nah he's a pretty cool guy...I've meet him more then once and everytime drunk or sobber he's been pretty cool. best part was one time I got everyone to sign my ESP JH-1 (Rob not Jason) but now I've put that guitar aside into my private collection
Oh nice. My collection is a Flying V autographed by Megadeth during Friedman's time and an ESP by Alice in Chains and Iron Maiden |
the only other thing I have signed is a ESP DV-8 by Mustaine
|
That would be awesome to have.

Wow, i wish i have something singed by AIC, all I got is Persistence in Time singed by Anthrax, Among the Living line up. |
Metallica are freakin' awesome! me and my dad (both being drummers) like to listen to them on the stereo and study the way Lars plays, and i find it cool that a drummer is the spokes person hehe
|
if you think Lars is good check out Dave Lombardo
|
if you think Lars is good check out Dave Lombardo
Well, almost every Thrash drummer is better than Lars, but i thing it's a good think that Metallica is something that keeps families united. |
Lars isn't that great but he has some unique features that I like about him
|
If you think those drummers are good check out dream theatre :smash:
Hahahaha....Ah...hey BLS do you think James is a good guitarist?Or are you just a fan of his vocals? |
Meh, I was dissapointed with lombardo's drumming when he played drums for metallica at download festival. Joey definetely was better playing metallica songs and adding some more action to them.
Anyways, dave mackintosh and danny carey are also great drummers and both much better than lars. |
But Lombardo played the hardest songs.
|

Hahahaha....Ah...hey BLS do you think James is a good guitarist?Or are you just a fan of his vocals?
I think James is a great rhythm guitarist but if every guitarist is on a list then hell no. also Dream Theater is boring and repeative to me...John Petriucci has 0 emotion and he is to predictable. I also hate keyboards and James LaBrie |
But Lombardo played the harder songs.
Yea, but he played same beat as lars which didn't change songs at all. He should have added some of his stuff to make songs a bit different than with lars. Seriously when I heard seek and destroy and creeping death, I was amazed at how great it sounded with more double bass action and stuff. |
Man, I didn't know that Lombardo played drums for Metallica at download.
|
Dave shows his true talent on the Slayer albums and live Slayer shows when he gets to solo
|
I love slayers drummer \m/
|
Dave shows his true talent on the Slayer albums and live Slayer shows when he gets to solo
I'm not a fan of drum solos, but I do like his beats like anger of death and here comes the pain. He really should have added a better beat to battery though. I don't like the four horsemen much, so didn't care about that one much. |
why are you people talking about slayer on a metallica thread? just wanted to point that out to you
|
why are you people talking about slayer on a metallica thread? just wanted to point that out to you
Because we can. And Lombardo did some drumming for Metallica live. Thanks for pointing that out, but I'm pretty sure we noticed. |
joey jordison played with metallica to
|
I definantly don't think that Lars is the greatest drummer around, but I do think that what he does is perfect for Metallica.
|
joey jordison played with metallica to
Yea, I just posted that like 5 posts above.
I definantly don't think that Lars is the greatest drummer around, but I do think that what he does is perfect for Metallica.
Yes he is. Although once in a while, it is nice to see another drummer play a metallica song or two and just add his own style and stuff. |
also Dream Theater is boring and repeative to me...John Petriucci has 0 emotion and he is to predictable. I also hate keyboards and James LaBrie
I somewhat disagree, I loved his solo's/guitar playing in general. It might not be emotionally charged as some of Metallica's solo's but far from boring to listen to, I love the sound and just everything he puts into most of his solo's, including in Octarium (solo). |
lars is good but not the best...children of bodom's drummer is awesome too
|
I just love the stage presense that Lars has, the faces he pulls are classic, and at times he just looks like such a little cutey, especially in the old days like the 80s and early 90s where he'd go hard out and then he'd just collapse at the end of the show (eg Live **** Binge and Purge). And check him out as kid! <<<

I also don't like DT's music much. Never figured out what all the fuss was about. I heard few of their songs which were all like 9 minutes plus and the songs never got anywhere really. I liked their instrumentals of MoP covers they did. Not better than metallica's obviously, but it was a nice change.
|
Does anyone here listen to Apocalyptica?
|
yea lars has a huge stage presence, its just fun to watch him live, besides he improves almost all of the songs live with his double bass playing which is awesome
|
ooo apocalyptica rules...specially the metallica covers
|
I've heard only their metallica covers which were quite good. I haven't heard any of their original work. I have a vid of them playing S&D at download festival 05, and they had some drummer from another band. It was pretty cool and crowd sang most of the song.
|
i like path from their original songs, and the video is just awesome
|
Does anyone here listen to Apocalyptica?
The covers are great, their own music is original, but not so good. |
I also don't like DT's music much. Never figured out what all the fuss was about. I heard few of their songs which were all like 9 minutes plus and the songs never got anywhere really.
Well, depends on what cd you listened to. Ocatavarium was probably the best cd released last year. Listen to Panic Attack or Octavarium (whole song) both are amazing songs and what got me into them in the first place.
Does anyone here listen to Apocalyptica?
I listen to them on and off. I have 2 of their cd's, none in which they cover Metallica, I used to but it got scratched to hell. Great music when in the mood. |
I'm seriously thinking of buying one of their albums, to add to my sleep soundtrack. I can't sleep in total silence so usually I listen to some tracks from Load and ReLoad, S&M, Echobrain's album, some tracks from the acoustic recording for Tuesdays Gone etc and I want to add some more stuff to it.
|
That's weird. I can't sleep with loud music.. I can with some Alice in Chains or Pink Floyd, but not Metallica.
|
carpe diem baby is a good sleep song from 'tallica along with low mans lyric, astronomy and i really get into outlaw torn..... the really relax me when i feel like it..
............keep headbangin |

I have to listen to something like DT to help me sleep. |
I don't listen to heavy Metallica when I sleep I listen to like Low Man's Lyric, Bleeding Me, Hero of the Day, Nothing Else Matters (S&M version), acoustic version of Creeping Death, Echobrain Anjali...
|
How comes? I can't get to sleep without heavy.
|
I don't listen to anything in particular to sleep.
