Where are my English majors up in here when I need help with proper sentence structure. Fucking wordy sentences up here here. Tell me if they're proper (I doubt it), and if not then recommendations for proper versions of them.
"Designed a program in BASIC to implement the Basic Atom 40 Microcontroller to recognize guitar note frequencies, and interface with a program designed in Microsoft Visual Studio 2008." "Worked cooperatively with a partner to design a program in BASIC to implement the Basic Atom 40 Microcontroller to interface with infra-red sensors, GPS, robotic wheels, and LCD monitor." ... and maybe help me to figure out an interesting name for a robot which I basically put GPS coords in and it went from point A to B, then B to C, then C to D, then D to A. Also, if you stepped in front of it the bastard saw you and drove around you really quick-like. Right now it is just "GPS Guided Robot"... |
writing your resume, eh?
Why are you mentioning Visual Studio? Just say C/C++ or nothing at all if it was Visual Basic  Also, write that you are knowledgeable in MIPS, AVR and IA32 assembler programming, it makes people think you're a computer engineering guru, and you'll have to really learn it when they're asking for it  BTW did you do that program using FFT to analyse the spectra? Probably so huh? Man I wish I could do something practical right now, just buffing up on information theory and control systems... |
lod, i think i'm the only person in my apartment who knows how to properly operate a lightswitch.
if i dont turn on the kitchen/livingroom lights, people just wander around in the dark all day (blinds work really well so little sunlight + cloudy day) and if i dont turn them off before i go to bed they're on all night. i've been in my room for the past hour or so, everyone was in the living room. now everyone has gone to bed but they left all the lights on and the TV on. wat. |
Write a nasty formal letter and put it on the fridge
it's funny cause you could easily talk to them but fuk that |
On the bottom of the letter tell them that you've been instructed by your lawyer not to communicate with them unless in the presence of your lawyer and their legal representation. And then when they talk to you, look at them, then call a predetermined friend and put them on speaker phone. When the housemate talks to you, your predetermined friend will repeat lines that you have rehearsed beforehand, such as "I'm sorry my client has no comment on that issue" or "that is a matter for the courts to decide".
writing your resume, eh?
Yep, and I have 0 previous work experience in my field. So I am putting the three major projects which I did in college.
Also, write that you are knowledgeable in MIPS, AVR and IA32 assembler programming, it makes people think you're a computer engineering guru, and you'll have to really learn it when they're asking for it
Only problem with putting things you generally don't know about is if they ask you to write something out on a board during an interview. I already have a pretty good list of stuff which I'm confident in, and one or two things I'm not. I have a VHDL book right now which I need to get into. I've been focused on learning Perl as of late though. I took one class which went over Verilog, VHDL, and MIPS in the same semester. I have about zero confidence in Verilog and MIPS. VHDL was the one I liked most, and the one which we barelly went over. I'm not sure, but I've programed on an 8086 (16-bit) in Assembly. I'm not sure how similar that is to IA32 though. I might have to look into that one day. If the commands and stuff are similar then skills can be easily transferred. My Tech. Summary looks like this though:
Platforms: Windows 98/XP/Vista/7, Unix, Mac OSX , Linux (Gentoo, Slackware, Arch, Ubuntu, Red Hat) Languages: C++, HTML, Assembly, Basic, Matlab, Perl Tools: Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), B^2 Logic, L-Edit, P-Spice, Matlab, Microsoft Visual Studio

Why are you mentioning Visual Studio? Just say C/C++ or nothing at all if it was Visual Basic  BTW did you do that program using FFT to analyse the spectra? Probably so huh? Man I wish I could do something practical right now, just buffing up on information theory and control systems...
I didn't do squat for coding in VS08, it was all GUI driven pretty much. Which is one of the reasons why I didn't say something like that, as I didn't even know what it used. There were much more important things than figuring out how VS worked. TBH if you sat me down in front of VS08 I probably couldn't re-do the program I did with out google. :upset: I didn't use FFT, though that project was kind of a mess. There were 9 of us in the class, and 4 of us failed to realize (the others were not effected by this flaw) the Basic Atom 40 sucks balls and can't sample at a high enough rate to successfully identify a frequency. My program was supposed to display tabs for the person to display, then sense if they played them right. Nothing too drastic, literally three levels with the first level having 1 note and each subsequent level adding a note. The Basic Atom 40 had a command which should have sampled it (with out me needing FFT), but it didn't work. I then found another longer, but shorter than FFT, way to do it. That didn't work... I figured it was the code not the microcontroller just not good enough to do it. Though the 1 line of code which was in the manual which should have been able to find the frequency just caused the system to hang. I never want to work with a Basic Atom 40 ever again tbh. |

Get someone to give you a rimjob, it's relaxing. :naughty: |
@LFD: Sounds tough! I once did a project on an ADSP-21369 processor with digital audio, it's awesome to hear a Butterworth lowpass you've calculated in action :-D
We prototyped in Matlab and implemented it in a "nice" assembler, it was still kinda hard though. Friends have been continuing the project and it's a full-blown preamp with FX and everything by now. |
Get someone to give you a rimjob, it's relaxing.
:naughty:
i either have cabin fever, bc my car died and i havent really left my house since last friday, im having cigarette withdrawals, delerium tremors from not drinking, or im going crazy. or all of them. i cant even play guitars bc my hands wont stay still. and i dont feel like it. |
drink and smoke, easy

Sup lod.
Is that still cool around here gice? Every time I stop by here, I'm surprised by how many names I recognize from my younger years. LFD, Moto, AES, SBT etc. Pleasure to see you all again. |
Max be overly passive-aggressive for the lulz.
Also, I'm pretty sure my knee pain is ITBS, which means I won't be doing jack **** for like a month :upset: **** my shitty knees. |

tbh its only mildly annoying, so i dont care enough to bother messing with them. if we had to pay the utilities bill then i might get more annoyed. |
Even I do the dishes, and I'm a lazy fucker.

I had a roommate once and he refused to do dishes. so after a week away at work I would come home to a large f'n pile of them. So I tossed them all in the trash. Problem solved. can't dirty the dishes if you don't have any. |

one of my roommates also usually doesn't do his dishes. i've almost thrown his **** away before. not only does it look sloppy and start to smell after a while, but when he runs out of his dishes he starts using mine and leaving them dirty in the sink. he's also the roommate that stays here over christmas and summer breaks and stuff, and the place is always so dirty and smelly when i get back. every time he says he's going to clean the place up before we get back but he never does. |
My apartment room mate:
* Would let dishes sit until we ran out before he would clean them. * Didn't care/didn't know how to clean. * Had his mother cook/freeze 80% of his food for him, with 19% of the remaining was store bought frozen food. Seriously, that bastard vacuumed once in the 3 1/2 year we lived together. One time he did the dishes, didn't take them out of the dishwasher, and literally put two or three more dishes in and washed them + clean dishes. He better find a bitch of a wife which babies him or he is screwed. Though as one of my Houston friends described him when he came over, he looked like he came out of the movie "Revenge of the Nerds." |
lod im pretty ****ed... i got the 6.40 am bus home... im am ****ed... got a lock in in a oub in town, was ****ing hilarous.... but man i am off my head...., my gf is a douch im pretty sure i hate her, but its ok... lets get a beer

Friend of my younger brother was selling his acoustic because he never learned how to play it and wanted to know what it was worth. It was a Fender Starcaster, vinyl soft case which was evident in the slight twist that had warped into the neck, cracked bridge also I'm guessing from temperature/weather damage because he never played it, and given that it was only $100 to begin with I told him he'd be lucky to get $20. The guy he sold it to would only give him $10. Personally I wouldn't have given him anything for it.
I tuned it up to see how it held up and the low E and the A kept dropping flat after about 3 minutes of playing. |
Well if he fixed the neck and bridge, probably replacing both, he could have gotten something like $60 for it. Though he probably would have had to spend $100-200 to get $60.
i.e. it was trash-able. |

I always do my dishes but that may have something to do with me only having two of everything, plates, bowls, spoons...
