i think cradle of filth is very underrated. they define black metal. pretty under produced too.
Cradle of Filth is good -> opinion

Cradle of Filth (besides 1st LP which is debatable) is not black metal -> fact

Doesn't have anything to do with simple minded...

the2stranger 11-25-2007 07:26 AM

Ugh.
COF talk.

Anyways, I'm seeing Celtic Frost in the spring of '08.

pate 11-25-2007 11:09 AM

Awesome! They put on a killer show.

the2stranger 11-25-2007 11:25 AM

Yeah, I'm really looking forward to it.

Anyone got some new bm discoveries?

Aakon_Keetreh 11-25-2007 01:10 PM

i was only joking, and i've heard all these cradle fans say the first album was black metal and it makes me laugh.

NYMPHETAMINE!!!!
Yeah, I'm really looking forward to it.

i've been downloading more death than black metal lately, but i picked up Fran Marder by Arckanum and its really interesting from the few songs i've heard off of it so far.

NemesisDivina 11-25-2007 01:44 PM
Anyways, I'm seeing Celtic Frost in the spring of '08.
Their live show is ****ing incredible. I don't like the new stuff very much, but they definitely turned me into a believer. I almost died when they played The Usurper. I was all \m/
Anyone got some new bm discoveries?
I haven't discovered any new bands, but I downloaded the new Peste Noire split with Horna the other day and I'm pleased to say that it is actually quite good.

rattlehead42147 11-25-2007 01:47 PM

that peste release with the extremely long title that Tyler reviewed is pretty good but kind of turned me off after a while.
is the Horna side worth listening?

NemesisDivina 11-25-2007 01:49 PM

Yeah the Horna side is definitely worth a listen, but the split is only 10 min. long (1 song each) so it's not like you're gonna be wasting much time even if you don't like it.

La Sanie Des Siècles - Panégyrique De La Dégénerescence

rattlehead42147 11-25-2007 01:51 PM

cool. yep that was the one.

i'm definitely going to get that Blasphemy LP today, so i'll just grab that split while i'm at it.

Stormrider 11-25-2007 01:52 PM

The song on that split is nowhere near the best song on FFF, though.

NemesisDivina 11-25-2007 01:52 PM

I can hook you up with a link if you want, I'll just e-mail it to you if you want. Gods of War is a great release. I think that and Fallen Angel of Doom are tied.

NP: Jewel Throne

rattlehead42147 11-25-2007 01:54 PM

coolio!

yeah that'll work. I thought it was called GoW but then I was like "no that's a PS2 game" :)

NemesisDivina 11-25-2007 01:58 PM

Heh, I lost your e-mail address. Mind posting it again? And I only have a link for the Horna/Peste Noire split

Niflheim 11-25-2007 02:06 PM

Horna sucks, Fatraugh is a fat finnish queer who listens to Korn, Limp Bizkit and SOAD regularly. Along with that all his bands ****ing suck and are the epitome of shitty trendy black metal.

Stormrider 11-25-2007 02:10 PM

don't you sorta like Sinisterite?

NemesisDivina 11-25-2007 02:11 PM

The song I heard off the split was alright, nothing to get super excited over but it was decent black metal...

So I finally got around to picking up the last Inquisition CD that I needed to get- Invoking the Majestic Throne of Satan. I'm hoping that it's gonna be as good if not better than Into the Infernal Regions of the Ancient Cult.

the2stranger 11-25-2007 02:13 PM

Thanks for the recommendations guys.
I haven't listened/discovered new black metal for some time.

Well, I'm so busy with doom and drone, so yeah. :p

Niflheim 11-25-2007 02:13 PM
don't you sorta like Sinisterite?
I listened to it once and thought it was alright.

Stormrider 11-25-2007 02:16 PM
I listened to it once and thought it was alright.
There's really no need to listen to it much more then that, anyway. It wasn't all bad, just some retarded vocals and boring parts made up most of it. Though, some is was actually pretty decent.

rattlehead42147 11-25-2007 02:40 PM
Heh, I lost your e-mail address. Mind posting it again? And I only have a link for the Horna/Peste Noire split
i'll just blogsearch it later, don't worry about it. i can probably find both pretty easily. so do you have every Inquisition release?

and does anyone know where to find the album Seeming Salvation by Epitaph? i've looked everywhere and found nothing.
edit: death thread my bad

I already sent you the split

Yeah, I have every Inquisition full-length. They all rule from what I've heard. I still need to give Invoking the Majestic Throne of Satan a listen though. From what I've heard, it sounds very promising.

rattlehead42147 11-25-2007 02:48 PM

alright cool. i'll check my email then. does he use the same vocal approach on every release? :)

NemesisDivina 11-25-2007 02:50 PM
alright cool. i'll check my email then. does he use the same vocal approach on every release? :)
Yep, and it rules. In the later releases, they do some mixing tricks to make his vocals sound less abrasive though. Still good :thumb:

Angmar 11-25-2007 03:22 PM

My cousin has seen Inquisition live, he said they ruled. I bet they play a lot in Washington, I should try and see them some time.

Nostalgia 11-25-2007 04:26 PM

Inquisition sound a lot like the band that opened for Enslaved, name-wise I mean. I can't remember the actual band's name though. It's something like Inquinok.

Angmar 11-25-2007 04:27 PM

Yeah that sounds about right, my cousin also is friends with another one of the Olympia bands Ceremonial Castings and he said I should check them out, does anyone here know/like them?

i am the robots 11-25-2007 04:27 PM

Olympia is really good live, I saw them with As Cities Burn. They played mostly old stuff though, they used to be really ambient, but their new stuff is like hard rock. :thumb:

Angmar 11-25-2007 04:28 PM

Shut up Mappy!

i am the robots 11-25-2007 04:30 PM

Is it because of my insanely Jewish avatar?

Nostalgia 11-25-2007 04:32 PM

http://www.myspace.com/inquinok

Finally, there's the band that opened for Enslaved.

Niflheim 11-25-2007 05:17 PM

I thought I was listening to Emperor when I opened that page. Terrible.

i am the robots 11-25-2007 05:33 PM

Their guitars were far too fast to be good.

Nostalgia 11-25-2007 06:06 PM

Yeah, they sound tons like circa In the Nightside Eclipse Emperor. Definitely not something I'd buy or download, but they were fun to see live.

masterchaos 11-25-2007 06:52 PM

I bought a Naglfar cd today...Pariah I beleive...I really enjoyed it.

i am the robots 11-25-2007 07:08 PM

Pariah's a great album.

rattlehead42147 11-25-2007 07:49 PM

I don't know why a lot of people hate Emperor, I love the early stuff. I'm trying to get the Thou Shalt Suffer demo. i thought The Adversary was a good album too.
