Well, I busted out Awake today, and like most of you, I've learned to love it.

Too bad you didn't get speared too.

Dragon_Prince 10-11-2005 11:59 PM

They played DSOTM yeterday :( wished I was there

Enlighten Me 10-12-2005 03:41 AM

What's up with all these Canadians? :P

Deth 10-12-2005 06:30 AM

It would actually annoy me slightly if they played someone else's album in it's entirety. I go to see DT, not Pink Floyd, even though I love them as well.

nowitzki 10-12-2005 06:35 AM
They played DSOTM yeterday :( wished I was there
Hmm, I wonder if that means they'll cover it in London as well? Dark Side should be very cool, but I was secretly hoping they might do a Pantera album.

Lord Abortion 10-12-2005 06:46 AM

I would cry tears of sorrow an blood if I went to see DT and they covered a gay pantera album, no offence to you Pantera fans, but I really would hate it.

Jev 10-12-2005 09:05 AM

Oh I'd hate it too. I'd throw my shoes at Petrucci.

scenesfromatheater 10-12-2005 09:30 AM

...it would be cool if they played SFAM or I&W in its entitiry....that would be good for all DT fans

Lord Abortion 10-12-2005 11:28 AM

Apparently the second show in London will contain "a classic album in it's entirety", I have no Idea if that's a DT album, or a cover of another band's work, but I&W live next tour would cause me to have convulsions of joy

scenesfromatheater 10-12-2005 12:44 PM

I suppose I wouldnt mind Number of the Beast or something like that but I think a DT album would be the coolest

I'd die to see them do I&W live.

Triangle 10-12-2005 01:26 PM
DT remains my favorite band for about 4-5 years now. i have every album plus many Portnoy dvds. For me, they are the only one band that never gets me bored after hearing the song countless times. everytime i hear Erotomania and Dance of Eternity, something goes down in my stomach. they are just, flawlessly written.

As far as drumming goes, there ARE more influential drummers out there, but i don't think there are many who can play with the intensity Portnoy pump out. I went to their 15th anniversity show in Hollywood and for 3 god**** hours (their shows are 3 hours long...) with so much charisma it was just inspirational... so i ended up buying a ticket to Japan for Budokan show and he did awesome job there, too

Portnoy will always be my #1 hero... too bad i couldn't see him on Giga tour.
Dude, you went to Budokan! :amaze: How was it?

Med, it is DSOTM that they're playing.

Are you sure they'll play the same album in London as they did in Amsterdam?

suspended_animation 10-12-2005 03:08 PM

Man DREAM THEATER RULEZ! I've heard about them 2 or 3 years ago but couldn't get anything to them, but 2 months ago (On 10/8/05) I got their COMPLETE ALBUMS on a MP3 CD !-hey I got their albums as mp3 coz I live in Iraq :upset: , and here everything is pirated :D !- man they rulez, they became my 2nd favorite band after (Metallica), also John Petrucci's (Suspended Animation) Rocks. my favorite songs to DT are: Pull Me Under, Another Day, Wait For Sleep, Home, Fatal Tragedy and ALL (TOT) songs. :thumb:

Chu 10-12-2005 04:04 PM

You haven't heard The Glass Prison, or A Change of Seasons, have you?

Some could say a few songs on Octavarium are a bit heavier too.

excellent, suspended animation ****ing rocks but, please, dont say, rulez, rules!!

Chu 10-12-2005 10:48 PM

Just wondering, has anyone here heard any Circus Maximus, and if so, what did they think?

I think they sound heaps like Dream Theater (Especially their drummer!), and they have a decent singer. They're also more Metal based from what I picked up too (Which isn't always a good thing, but meh).

I reallyt should listen to the non- ballads on that album eh? :p

temporary 10-13-2005 09:53 AM
I got the impression that they meant something like their Master Of Puppets album cover, although if I was seeing them live, I'd be more pleased with seeing them do Scenes From A Memory in its entirety than anything else. I saw rumors that the classic album might be a Rush album, which would be pretty cool as well. I wouldn't want to see them cover DSOTM though. I don't think it would work that well. :-\
Seeing them doing Rush would be great. The really fit their style. I'm pretty sure Rush was one of the biggest influences on Dream Theater (Neil Peart definitly inspired Mike Portney.)

scenesfromatheater 10-13-2005 10:06 AM

I've only heard YYZ(and it is awsome) by rush so I wouldn't really want to see that myself, but I would prefer it to Floyd

Download 2112 ASAP, or I can upload it. I prefer Floyd to Rush, but they just don't fit each other. Petrucci and Gilmour are about as oppisite on the spectrum of guitar gods as any two men can be...

Deth 10-13-2005 10:33 AM

I got my SFAM shirt through in the mail today .

scenesfromatheater 10-13-2005 10:41 AM

hmmm... is that a long sleeved shirt by any chance?

Deth 10-13-2005 10:45 AM

No. But I did buy it for $12 : Double cool:.

scenesfromatheater 10-13-2005 01:12 PM

I've got 5 Rush albums on my computer but I've never had the time to listen to them :naughty:

listen to them NOW.

scenesfromatheater 10-13-2005 02:28 PM

Will do

GenuineImitation 10-13-2005 05:06 PM
I imagine so...didn't they play Master Of Puppets 3 times on the same tour, and not cover any other classic album on tour?
Didnt they do The Number of the Beast also.

nowitzki 10-13-2005 05:16 PM
Didnt they do The Number of the Beast also.
Yes I think they did do them both on the 6DOIT tour. And on the ToT tour they did both Number of the Beast and Fragile by Yes. But I reckon it is more than likely we'll be seeing Floyd in London, they might do something different if there is chance while they're in South America on the next leg of the tour.

Darkness 10-13-2005 05:44 PM

I got that Budokan DVD today, pretty good show. In The Name Of God was played so awesome... that little improvising Petrucci does at the end was wicked.

That is an amazing DVD. The production is amazing...I wish they played Metropolis or the glass prison though.

Darkness 10-13-2005 06:57 PM

Yeah.. I really wanted to see The Glass Prison... oh well.

what was John thinking? Was this outfit supposed to make him look more heavy metal?

Darkness 10-13-2005 08:12 PM

He's gone metal. :D

http://dougorama.net/concert/DT05/DSC_1695.jpg

MAthiAS 10-13-2005 09:01 PM

If he really wanted to be metal he'd have gotten a sig guitar that didn't look gay.
