I'm stuck with two bitches that can only sing pop songs. And my drummer is a complete wanker. But it's fun, nonetheless.

Slayer - Reign In Blood - Literally!

SLAYER fan site Slayer Saves has posted a review of the group's July 11 show in Augusta, Maine, which was filmed for an upcoming live DVD, entitled "Reign in Blood Live: Still Reigning". As previously reported, the disc will feature a full performance of the 1986 album "Reign in Blood" by all original members of the veteran thrash metal outfit. The DVD, due on September 28, will have an approximate 75-minute running time and will retail for $14.98. An excerpt from the Slayer Saves review follows:

"The band took a short encore pause from 'Angel of Death' to 'Piece by Piece', same as they did on the Jager tour. Blood rained from the lighting rig upon the beginning of 'Raining Blood' soaking Tom and bloodying Kerry (Jeff avoided the bulk of the blood). The only adverse result of the blood was it killed the sound of Dave's cymbals for the end of the song when once again it poured blood soaking everything including the drums. The effect was quite striking and the crowd was blown away. A blood soaked Tom addressed the cheering crowd with a sneering smile and the words 'We'll see you in HELL.' Comments from people leaving the venue were positive and I think the show was received extremely well. The blood effect was amazing and worth every penny alone."

Set list from the shoot:

01. Disciple
02. War Ensemble
03. Hallowed Point
04. Necrophiliac
05. Spill the Blood
06. Fight Till Death
07. Payback
is that the one where they played whiplash?
they do play whiplash, they play it at alot of shows/did play it.During the show they play almost all of kill em all.I'll find a setlist for it.That slayer thing sounds bitchin. It comes out the day before my birthday so I want that and the new megadeth album, unless i go and download it and hate it.

hamstercaster 07-15-2004 06:33 PM
^^ Reign in Blood is way better than any of the death metal albums you guys talk about in your group. Not that death metal isn't good or anything, but thrash just slays.

EDIT: Sorry, I should say, I LIKE it better. Not "it is better"
I love your avatar. I grew up listening to those bands.......and still enjoy them quite a bit although I need to get the new Exodus and would need to get some possessed if it ever came out on cd.

Anyway, when the EP is done, i will be putting it on the computer for all to download. Until then, at least check out who were are and everything... -Griffin

Ellefson Vs Mustaine

BLABBERMOUTH.NET has obtained a copy of the 38-page complaint filed by former MEGADETH bassist David Ellefson against the group's leader, David Mustaine, alleging the singer shortchanged him on profits and backed out of a deal to turn Megadeth Inc. over to him when the band broke up in 2002. Ellefson also accuses Mustaine of locking him out of merchandise and publishing royalties. Ellefson is seeking $18.5 million from Mustaine, including $10 million in punitive damages stemming from Mustaine's "libelous statements" on MEGADETH's web site "falsely accusing" Ellefson of trying to "extort" Mustaine in order to appear on the new MEGADETH record. Corporal Compendia 07-16-2004 03:09 PM

^^^ Yeah well... **** you! :p

You know, I came in here to say something, but now I've forgotten what that something was going to be. Oh well. So... 8 Days until the Gates of Hell show! I'm gonna thrash up a stooooorm! I'm getting more and more patches for... "The Vest". I'm just worried the backpatch(Hellhammer) I ordered won't get here in time. The backpatch is vital! However, I did get a pair of Chuck Taylors, so soon, yes soon my 80's metal outfit for this show will be complete.

sensitiveorgan00 07-16-2004 11:19 PM

Just came back from Ozzfest. I finally saw Slayer live!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh man, that show ruled. Slayer fvcking owned. I couldn't stop headbanging. They played Chemical Warfare, but they didn't play Angel of Death. ****. Oh yeah, I also got Kerry King's signature on my South of Heaven cd I bought today.

And I mean that in a GOOD way.

GraveRobbersINC 07-17-2004 05:26 AM

^How is Soulside Journey, I almost bought that a while ago.

JMetallica 07-17-2004 05:40 AM

It's good, really ****ing heavy, and has a sludgy kind of fell to it. Pretty good album.

JMetallica 07-17-2004 11:13 PM

What the ****? I had to go digging for the thread.

Anyway, stumbled upon this site: http://intruder.biz/intruder.htm

Two free thrash albums. Thought you all might like to check them out. Varying quality musically, Not top notch, not crap. Average Thrash i guess :) Woth the Download for sure.

Griffin_Page 07-17-2004 11:38 PM

It's not bad, thats for **** sure.. pretty good stuff.. i dig it.

manuscriptreplica 07-18-2004 04:32 AM

Soulside Journey is awesome. It's not black metal, it's death metal, and one of the better death metal albums I've heard. It's a shame that they couldn't continue the death metal as a side project, but oh well.

An unfinished mock-up of the new MEGADETH album cover, "The System Has Failed", has been posted online at this location. The artwork is being conceived by Tempe, Arizona-based artist Mike Learn, who has chosen to do the art on the medium he is known for — sheet metal. The piece is being created on a 64"-by-36" piece of 16-gauge steel.

"The System Has Failed", the tenth studio album released under the MEGADETH banner, is set for release September 14 on Sanctuary Records. The CD was recorded at Phase Four studios in Tempe, Arizona and features mainman Dave Mustaine alongside drummer Vinnie Colaiuta and bassist Jimmy Sloas. Additional lead guitar tracks were laid down by former MEGADETH guitarist Chris Poland.

Commented Mustaine: "I took a real casual pace with this album. We started out working about three hours a night, four days a week. I know this is such a cliché, but it was like being reborn. I don't have three other guys that I'm gonna disappoint if I don't listen to their stuff. I was in there calling the shots and it was a lot like when (the band's first two albums) 'Killing Is My Business...And Business Is Good!' and 'Peace Sells...But Who's Buying?' first came out. It was me making my music, I had guys in the band listening to me, and I was the boss."

With regards to Poland's contributions, Mustaine said, "It was so much fun having Chris come down and play. He's a great person and there's a reason why we took a fork in the road back then. When he came in and listened to this record, I didn't know what to expect from him. I didn't know if he was gonna listen and say, 'I'm not digging this,' or whatever, because he's all into his jazz-fusion stuff. But he gave me a really great compliment, because he said somewhere, 'some of you guys are gonna have to break out your slide rulers, because this is definitely 'Rust In Peace'-type music.'

1990's "Rust In Peace", MEGADETH's fourth album and possibly most successful after 1992's "Countdown To Extinction" (which charted at Number Two on The Billboard 200 album chart), is held by many fans as the gold standard against which all MEGADETH releases are judged, for its heaviness, intricacy, and tunefulness. "Everybody's wanted me to make 'Rust In Peace 2', and I don't think I did," said Mustaine. "But I think what I did was make an album that was a natural progression from 'Rust In Peace'."

"The System Has Failed" will be MEGADETH's first album since the announcement that Mustaine was disbanding the group following a serious accident in early 2002. At the time, it was unknown if severe nerve damage in his left arm would leave him able to perform again.

Hang on about 2weeks ago it was annoced Menza was back in the band, looks good though
