Futurepunk has been around for years :-/ Its nothing new.

Panopticon 01-29-2008 01:04 PM

kind of ironic.

TGP why did you get kicked out?

Drum Phil 01-29-2008 01:06 PM

Yeah.

Its just one of those daft cross-over genres.

Hey guys. Just thought i'd throw this up here. The new song siren of jericho is VERY rough. Drums were recorded a few hours ago through a pair of headphones and into audacity. I did the best i could to it with audacity. Some parts off a little off time because the guitarists didnt use a click and had some off moments :\

But id love some feedback.

Cheers

Janeway 01-29-2008 01:39 PM

I yelled at my psych professor about something and after class she came up to me and told me that she thought our confrontation was wonderful because it's the most she's heard me say in the two years she's known me, and she thought it was a wonderful breakthrough.

A-hole. =/

And I regret starting Catcher in the Rye and wish I had stuck to Anna Karenina.

Drum Phil 01-29-2008 01:41 PM

I wish i didnt listen to that.

I could have taken it straight from the "How to be emo" handbook.

it's a little rigid man. I know there is a rather agitated feel to the song, but i still feel your playing is a bit too angular.

i agree with this man...needs more feel and less robotics.

please don't use the term emo in this context

the_pure_drummer 01-29-2008 02:14 PM

Well i'd be able to play more fluently in the song i think if theyre was an actually tempo and time sig i could stick to. But there isnt so it's kinda hard to play to.

Jay reckon you could make something up to that?

Give it a go.

You dont want me to use a music genre in a musical context?

What the hell?

Chippy569 01-29-2008 02:20 PM

lol

Drum Phil 01-29-2008 02:21 PM

I love how we've resorted to using "Josiah-Like" as an insult now.

using a musical genre to describe a piece of music, when one seemingly doesn't know what said musical genre actually is, is bad times.

i don't wish to argue though so i'm sorry.
I find it funny that people will rag on almost any drug but as soon as they give you it in hospital, they forget all about being morally against it.
Intention is everything.

There's a difference between "I just snapped my femur someone please stop this pain" and "hey I'm bored lets get fucked up"

Drum Phil 01-29-2008 02:27 PM

You do know shit is supposed to come from your arse right?

So far as im concerned, the track sounded like every other scene/emo band in the country.

Arguing about genres is moronic at the best of times. Especially when you werent even born when the genre had its time.

True. I was thinking more of the people who aquire things illegally for pain at the time though.

I mean, those people intend to use it for the same reason as hospitals, but hospitals wont give them it.

Whats so wrong with that?

tbh if you're in desperate need for illegal drugs to ease your pain, you're probably not going to wander around the streets searching for them.

Experimentation -> Use -> Misuse -> Abuse -> Dependancy

Left side of the scale = positives outweigh negatives
Right side of the scale = negatives outweigh positives

If you're able to stay on the left side, by all means have fun. But if you're slipping into misuse/abuse, you should slow down/stop/reevaluate why you use.

Drum Phil 01-29-2008 02:38 PM

Yeah but how do you define those categories?

I mean, dependancy is obvious, but how do you define the difference between misuse and abuse.

Win A Rabbit 01-29-2008 02:45 PM
Yeah but how do you define those categories?

There's definately grey area between the two.

When I took courses, the way we learned is that misuse is when the positives and negatives are equalled out --- and abuse is when the negatives start to take over \.

Intentions, frequency, etc, all need to be taken into account.

There's a difference between drinking 15 beers to have fun every now and then, and drinking 15 beers to get drunk and pass out every weekend.

Drum Phil 01-29-2008 02:51 PM

I suppose most of its one huge grey area.

I mean, if you intend to get fucked up, but know fine well you'll just sit and giggle for several hours, thats surely a positive when compared to people who get messed up and violent.

Win A Rabbit 01-29-2008 03:02 PM

Using a substance with the intent to get fucked up is very habit-forming.

The way we measure positives and negatives was to break it up into life areas, most of which I probably forget. But it was things like friendships, family, education, physical health, emotional health, work, money, etc.

Then write positives/negatives for each, and then look at them as a whole and compare. So there's going to be variation between areas, but it's kind of a general result. You don't officially move from misuse to abuse, it happens slowly over time, as your family/friends distance themselves from you, your money runs out, your health runs down, your education/work runs down, etc.

Drum Phil 01-29-2008 03:08 PM

Fair point.

:) A conversation about drugs in the stronghold that didn't end with "you're a loser i hate you."

hi5.

off to work now.

Janeway 01-29-2008 03:13 PM

I've had three bowel movements today.

Drum Phil 01-29-2008 03:13 PM

See now, so long as everyone looks at things objectively and doesnt get all hot headed and morally outraged, we can all play nice.

The Mites 01-29-2008 03:25 PM

The discussion of Pespi's bowel movements is morally outraging.

Drum Phil 01-29-2008 03:27 PM

Well lets be honest. We've heard enough about pespis bodily functions to be jaded by now.

I'll always be reminded of the spotty cunt flap incident.
