trivium - dying in your arms, pull harder on the strings of your martyr, ascendency, the decieved. actually, listen to the whole album. unearth - zombie autopilot (awesome song) and aries (not really a song, more of an instrumental but still great to listen to) |

Megadeth - A Tout Le Monde Dream Theater - These Walls (maybe not metal metal) |
Well, you're really talking about song structure, and many different bands use many different song structures for different songs because i dont think a single bands sticks to a whoel 'soft---->heavy' structure. So, yea, 'tis a lttle vague =/
Anyway: Can anyone reccomned some Beautiful heavy music? Like... Cynic or Aghora, Sometimes the music is light and airey, then intense, then haunting. Its hard to describe. Anyone? I've checked out Aethist, but there a tad too heavy for what i'm looking for, and i lose some sense of melody when listening to them. EDIT: Or lighter like Agalloch... with more guts DVG.
\ you can try some Therion and Haggard later Katatonia |
Any recommendations for these bands would be great..
Atreyu
listen to lip gloss and black, if you like it. listen to the whole of sucide notes and butterfly kisses. and then listen to bleeding mascara, if you like it, listen to the whole of the curse |
wintersun
They only have one album (s/t) which its really worth getting. I would reccommend listening to Battle Against Time. |

Maybe even Hollenthon.
Any recommendations for these bands would be great.. The Beatles Bob Dylan cheers :)
For the Beatles, I'd say Revolver, first and foremost, and then Rubber Soul and Abbey Road slightly below it. For Dylan, my personal favourite is The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan, but that's a very folk-y album. If that doesn't sound like what you want, then try his later, more rock-like albums - Blonde on Blonde, Highway 61 Revisited and Desire. Those are all amongst his better-known releases, too. Once you get a feel for him (and whether you like him or not) you can start exploring his many other releases. |

what are tool like?
|
what are tool like?
very weird, alternative music with alot of winks towards metal long songs in genral with weird structures, (often interlining) the lyrics are very deep and meaningfull, and require a lot of research if you truly want to understand them. Tool consists of Four members. one of the things you will notice is the very rhytmic sound, and the lack of melody. the band is really driven by the trhytm section, but their guitarist is wel capable of awesome licks too. check out my above post for song recommendations |
thnanks for the explanation. Im still looking for a melodic metal band with clean vocals but there seems to be no such band, but while i was searching i did find a band i liked...unearth. Can someone recommend me some bands simiiar to unearth, one that doesnt uses a seven string so i can play along with. Oh and a melodic metal band with clean vocals would be cool to. Respnoses appreciated.

Nevermore, maybe? Their music has a lot of melody to it, and their singer has a clean voice. |
yepp, nevermore just has heavy metal singing.
anyway, if you like melodic stuff.i suggest you try and listen to in flames. although, they have growls. but i think the melody may make you want to listen to the songs even more. listen to their newer works for less growling and more clean vocals. try...evil in a closet, the quiet place, my sweet shadow... |
Would Tool be considered post-metal?
Tool is really hard to put in a genre. Post-metal or post-rock doesn't seem to be too far of. but I'm not really an expert on Tool, I enjoy their music a lot, but I'm not too big on them. a mix between post-metal and alternative seems ok to me:) for anyother discussion I recommend you ask in the Tool thread |
thanks ill check them out..can someone also recommend me a band like unearth with six string guittars rather than 7?
|
Can anyone recommend me some really classical orcheastral guitar music please.
ThankYou |
Jason Becker
Yngwie Malmsteen Symphony X Edit: Sorry, I forgot the ocheastral part...But Symphony X has a lot of orchestrated parts, check out The Odyssey. |
i like in flames because their singer almost has a clean voice imo but do they solo at all, i know melodic most of the time means slow but it would also be good if there was a technical side as well..and are nevermore technical as well?

Nevermore is as technical as hell...brilliant, brilliant solos. In Flames, their older stuff had solos...not brilliant, but still good. |
