Buy Scenes From A Memory so you can follow the story along with the album booklet. :)
Be prepared for the show of your life Shattered.
Don't worry...I've been looking forward to this from June.

Moses 08-23-2005 07:59 AM

DON'T MISS DEP!!! I'll have to kill you. Even if you don't like them don't miss the show.

I wish I could go. DEP are so awesome, I'm still figuring out bits and pieces of "Sugar Coated Sour" on bass.

Moses 08-23-2005 08:10 AM

The guitarists can shred when they want to also. I mean listen to parts of 43% Burnt.

It's weird because they have all that originality coming out of the hardcore scene.

Shattered_Future 08-23-2005 09:18 AM

I STILL don't see why DEP is so good...it sounds like a whole bunch of chaotic noise to me.

I hear they put on a good show, though...might stick around. ;)

I only caught Nevermore, Symphony X, Dream Theater and of course Megadeth. All put on a ****ing fantastic show. Make sure you catch them all.

We just kinda stood around outside when Fear Factory was on, we had absolutley no intention to see them.

We didn't see DEP because they were on when Symphony X was on. There's no way I'm missing Symphony X for DEP.

Shattered_Future 08-23-2005 09:23 AM

I have full intention to see ALL of those...

Might stick around for Fear Factory...their drummer is crazy.

inasymphonyxmood 08-23-2005 10:36 AM

I'm going to the show tomarrow, how does the 2 stage thing work? 2 bands playing at the same time? How is that possible? I have a pair of tix to some seats, is that for main stage? Is second stage just standing room for everybody? ahhhhh somebody that's been to the show, HELP ME, i don't wana miss nevermore, symp x, and life of agony

ArcLite 08-23-2005 10:38 AM

They're not simultanious. 2nd stage plays the first part of the day, then main stage. Worry not, you'll get to see it all. There may be a small overlap when they change over, though.

inasymphonyxmood 08-23-2005 10:51 AM

awesome im so stoaked!

inasymphonyxmood 08-23-2005 01:21 PM

inasymphonyxmood 08-24-2005 09:23 AM

6 hours!!!!!!!!! IM SO HAPPPPPPPPPPY

ROH 08-24-2005 09:37 AM

Also expect to hear Panic Attack along with some of the songs Med57 mentioned.

Arrakakaka 08-24-2005 10:16 AM

Dream Theater and DEP are a wierd combination, but it still works.

supreme maidenite 08-24-2005 10:51 AM

did any of you here about the cover of pantera's 'cemetary gates' that dream theater and dave mustaine did?

Shattered_Future 08-24-2005 11:45 AM

Dream Theater was brilliant last night...no other word for it.

The lights dimmed, and the crowd started to stir...then some weird staticy noise came in. I had a hunch what the song would be...turns out i was right. As the first bells rang, the crowd went nuts...then that great bass riff comes in, and the whole band started The Glass Prison as their opener. One of the best openers I've ever seen, save for Symphony X's opener, Inferno.

Anyway, Dream Theater proceeded to play a sort of "greatest hits" set...one of the best setlists I've ever seen. It included, but wasn't limited to: The Glass Prison, Home, Lie, A Fortune In Lies (I think), Pull Me Under/Metropolis Pt. 1, As I Am, and others.

I think the best part was, though, when Portney brought out the drummer from Death onstage, and both of them proceeded to play Portney's drumset. They did beats from many different songs, including Hot For Teacher (Van Halen), Run To The Hills (Iron Maiden), a Megadeth song, and various others.

If you have the chance, definately catch DT on this tour. One of the greatest shows I've ever seen.

Tails 08-24-2005 03:59 PM
Pull Me Under or Metropolis are the MoP-esque crowd reaction songs, probably...on Budokan they get a MAJOR pop when the opening of PMU starts.
Or when Instrumedley starts off with the DoE/Metropolis effect and they are all excited and cheering, then it goes into DoE and they all sit down. Classic moment right there.

kidthatplaysguitar91 08-24-2005 04:15 PM

i'm going to a dream theater/ megadeth gigatour on friday at the boston pavilion, anyone else going??

So good :thumb:

vashts80 08-25-2005 02:35 AM

It's unfortunate that I'm going to miss Symphony X and Dillenger when I go see Gigantour on Sunday at the House of Blues in AC :(

My dad is taking me and he's not going to sit through a 7/8 hour concert, so we're going at 5 or 6 when it starts at (I believe) 3

inasymphonyxmood 08-25-2005 08:54 AM

OMMMMGGGG, JUST WENT TO GIGNATOUR LAST NIGHT! BEST CONCERT EVVVVEERRR.
The vibe you feel is not describable. SYMPHONY X WAS FUCCKING AMAZING why were they on 2nd stage with only 30 minute set? The crowd demanded another song after they were finished, and luckily we got one- a pantera cover (SWEET).
Michael Romeo=god. Dream theater fuccking ruled the stage, and megadeth -OMG MEGADETH. NEVERMORE RULED, FEAR FACTORY was better than i expected. This is how i rank the performances: 1. Symphony X 2. Megadeth 3. Dream Theater 4. Nevermore 5. Fear Factory 6. DEP bobaflex and dry kill logic absolutely suck btw

the2stranger 08-25-2005 09:39 AM

they played the Glass Prison live?

I wasn't there!!!
/cries

I must go when they play here in oktober

juggalotricksta 08-25-2005 10:37 AM

I would give my left nut to see DT live, but unless they come to Seattle, I dont think its gonna happen for me. :upset:

TAMA Drums Rule!!!!!!!!!!
TAMA drums also cost about 40 trillion pounds..

but anyway, i got my first DT album last week in france (they seem to have better music shops there), it was some really new one called Octavarium. i looked on amazon for it but they didnt have it so it must be pretty new i guess.... anyway, i thought it was pretty cool, much more coherant than i expected. i expected mroe pointless wankery but i was dissapointed (or un-dis-appointed :confuse:).

anyway, they seem to have a pretty solid rhythm and it seems to flow even with the wierd rhythms and time signatures. the drummer's good, to be sure, and he does a load of stuff i cant get near at the moment, but then again so do most pro drummers. to me it seemed a bit more accessible than tool. they also use more 'way-out' stuff.

hmm but anyway i really liked it, so i might get another. amazon couldnt decide which was best so i might go for liquid tension experiment or something...

Cousin_Ed 08-25-2005 03:32 PM
it seemed a bit more accessible than tool. they also use more 'way-out' stuff.
Yeah but Maynard James Keenan is a total moron, I really dispise him>_<, tool should have Dio!

Octavirium is awesome, the melodic chorus on The root of all evil reminds me of muse for some reason.

pizzapie88 08-25-2005 10:34 PM

I'm bored, here's my ideal DT detlist if I were ever to see them:

The Glass Prison
This Dying Soul
The Root of All Evil
Metropolis Part 1
YTSE Jam
Lie
The Spirit Carries On
Trail of Tears
Panic Attack
As I Am
The Dance of Eternity
Pull Me Under
Scarred
New Millennium
The Killing Hand
Home
Disappear

Encore

Octavarium

That is roughly a 3 hour set (I hope).

Apocalyptic Raids 08-25-2005 11:10 PM

I woudl give my left nut just to see them play The Glass Prison live.

Chu 08-25-2005 11:54 PM

I have to agree, I would too.
I don't need it anyway :naughty:

Edit: What's wrong with Mr Petrucci though??! Please see this
