*No underwear day So, I finally got Sideshow Symphonies. w00t!
ha, yay to free ballin'. I'm having a crappy mood day, too. Not like cranky or anything, I just feel kinda depressed, don't know why though... |
They do seem to be rather hard to track down, I'll hopefully find some though.
I joined the rock society thing here, which cost me £3.00 - which I actually borrowed from someone else who wants me to pay it back despite the large number of rounds I buy him -, so I'll hopefully meet one or two through there.
I don't know if there's a rock society thing here. I've not heard anything about it, but then I don't listen very hard. I'm probably missing out.
So on the whole Uni is good so far. I've yet to start my lectures, etc.. yet so I imagine that it'll go downhill after those commence.
Me neither. Have you got your timetable yet? I have, though I haven't been able to sign up for tutorials yet, so I don't know when they will be. My timetable on it's own seems really good though - I don't have any lectures (for this first semester, anyway) that start before midday. I don't think I'd dare ask for better.
And there's also a Fopp in Manchester  Though I think it's about a twenty minute walk away.
I have to walk for at least twenty minutes just to get anywhere interesting (University, for example) from where I live. Longer if I want to buy CDs :) |

Well they had it at a Fresher's fair thing where you could sign up for different clubs and such and get free junk. Though by the time I got there most of the important free junk - alcohol and food - had all been given out :upset:
Me neither. Have you got your timetable yet?
I have to walk for at least twenty minutes just to get anywhere interesting (University, for example) from where I live. Longer if I want to buy CDs :)
Well, I stay about a 20 minute walk from the city centre but I live right beside my lecture threatres etc... so it's pretty cool. I need to try and convince someone to come on a wander with me to try and find a decent CD shop, but I think the only person would come has gone hoe for the weekend :( In other News I'm rather excited because HMV have a 70% off sale, and I should hopefully get student discount on top of that.
I didn't join the rock society at my college because I could smell the stand before I could see it. Not really... I talked to them and they seemed a mixture of metalheads and RHCP/Audioslave-heads, neither of which interest me in any meaningful way. I should set up a Glam Society for next year, that'd be awesome. NP: Black Crowes - Remedy
Well it was only £3.00 and some good might come of it so I though why not? There are some more places I need to find and try. Like the rock night in the union is meant to be really good and that's tomorrow. I think there's also an extreme metal club somewhere in the city centre, but I need to check up on that. |

Without a doubt, the things I missed most often last year (which eventually got me in trouble) were 9 am tutorials, simply because I kept sleeping in :-/
In other News I'm rather excited because HMV have a 70% off sale, and I should hopefully get student discount on top of that.
They give student discounts in some sales and not in others, for some reason. It's always nice to get the extra 10% off, though. |
Uni talk, eh?
I went to Warwick on wednesday for the open day. Screw me, it's a beautiful campus. It's easily my no.1 choice of uni. |
Yeah, high school's such a bitch.
/feels out of place  NP: Lynyrd Skynyrd- All I Could Do Is Write About It |

so anyway, I'm still sick as hell. don't be surprised if I'm not on as much...I have like, zero energy. |

What grades are part of high school where you live? |
Get well soon, Ray. One of the things about not having a significant other is that when you get sick, you can't pin it on her. Or him, if you're a girl. Or if one is homosexual.
In other news: my roommates and I have a water balloon slingshot. Last night we tested it out in the parking lot, and man, those suckers can fly. I stood maybe 150 yards away, and they were still flying over my head. We have arranged our living room so that a couch backs against the doorwall. We are going to launch balloons from the inside of our townhouse, behind our couch, at unsuspecting people. I walked as a target while they tried to hit me... and man, they came pretty freakin' close. So tonight and this weekend, chaos will ensue when we play a rousing game of, "Hit the Stumbling Drunkard!" And this is what I do at uni in my spare time. grades nine through 12. it's kinda weird because the freshmen are always so tiny...like, when I was an upperclassman, I would see the incoming freshmen and think, "wow, there's no way I was that small". |
Heh, sounds fun :p (EDIT: To Jom's post)
I'm gonna go home and have a couple drinks, play my guitar... I'll talk to you honkeys later. |

I've been thinking the same thing. Now that I'm an upper classman, I've been looking at the freshman thinking, "holy hell, they're small". That and stupid, but they are freshman. |

My friend has one of those. At our end of the year tennis party last summer, he brought it outside, and him and a couple of people on our team took target practice on me. :-/ (Voluntarally, of course) They started off shooting them way too high, so the balloons were quite inaccurate, but after a while, they just started lasering them at me. I only got hit three times(twice in the right hand, once square in the chest) but man, I was sore the next day. The balloons are probably flying at ~80 miles per hour or so, so getting hit by one is definitely a large impact. The first time I got hit in the arm, it spun me around, and I actually fell. It ws a good time, though. :) My thoughts on Fresh(wo)men: lol more liek freshmeat lolol. I've actually met a couple cool freshmen already. I hung out with a few freshmen girls last Friday, and it's just really refreshing to hang out with girls who are closer to your level of maturity. :p I met them through a friend who is dating one of them,(For over a year, as of last week :-|) and we went to a dance afterwards, and it was just really fun. |
Some of the other freshman from other middle schools are pretty huge. I swear, a few of them could pass for juniors, and definitely sophomores. And then there are just plain TINY freshmen that look like they're 10.

oooh la la, Jake's in loooove :p yeah, when I became an upperclassman a lot of guys my age started going out with freshman girls and it's like, "Why?" they were not as attractive as the juniors and seniors (not in my school at least), and they were usually annoying as hell. |

Yeah, if they started at 9:00 I think I would have problems as well. I still think that they might be keeping soething back to spring on me, though :(
They give student discounts in some sales and not in others, for some reason. When I was a freshman, my lady friends started dating upperclassmen, and I also asked my self "Why?" I just thought they were dicks, mainly just because they stole my friends. :p Now, it's like my lady friends are either extreme sluts, or major prissy virgins, so I'm having a tough time finding anyone that I can attach myself to. NP: Arcturus- Demon Painter (If you've heard this song, refl@the burp at the beginning) |

To Jake, in regards to his water balloon slingshot:
Only 80MPH? This one flies well over 120... it's been clocked and everything. It is made out of some hardcore springy material. You can hear the balloons whizz past you if you aren't careful. |

I could definitely hear them as they came at me, so yeah, the thing probably was shooting faster than 80 mph. Also, I didn't want to sound like I was BSing, so I took a guess, heh. When we're feeling incredibly nasty, we're going to fill the water balloons with maple syrup (similar to what I did at uni last year... without the slingshot) :)
|
Kage- Since I'm too lazy to sign onto AIM, did you leave Houston, or are you gonna ride out Rita?
|
Is "uni" a European term?
|
Yeah, what we call going to college, they call going to uni(versity).
|
Yeah, what we call going to college, they call going to uni(versity).
Yea I got that part, I just didn't know if the shortened version "uni" was coined in Europe. |

Haha, I'd be so pissed if I got hit with one of those. Cola works good too. It's leaves you really sticky, even if you wash it off. Maple syrup though, :p |
Just a quick question for those of you with vehicles- In highschool (or in college, if it applies) did people ever write gross/funny things with their finger on your car's dust? Every day, I walk out to my truck, and there's always something like "I LIKE BOYS" or a picture of a wang on my hood. It's somewhat annoying, considering that it happens to me all the time(lol dirty vehicle) but when I do it back to that person, they get all bitchy about it.

People can't take shit...they can dole it out, but can't take it back in. I throw water balloons the old fashioned way...with my arm. :p |
Yeah, it's not the actual writing that pisses me off. It's exactly what you said- They can dish, but they can't take. What bitches.
You can't throw 120 mph, therefore you lose. :) |
You're going to deal with people like that all your life, though, not just in high school and uni.
People are going to say they're going to do something, but never follow through. People will talk as much shit as they can, yet they'll never back it up. You just gotta let those things go, heh. If you can't, call people out on it. |
A good smacking up usually does the trick. :thumb:
Maybe I can't throw at 120 mph, but I CAN get 3 inches from somebody's face with a water balloon...can't do that with the slingshot. |

When I got Firefox a few months ago, it let me import my bookmarks from Internet Explorer. Not sure if this helps you, but you may want to try that.
Are there any new wicked features on the updated version? |

I've had it in the past where it asked me if I wanted to switch to another version or something similiar, and lost them all too. I'm gonna stick to this version, methinks. |
