BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 06-11-2005 03:39 PM
Me too. And he's also one of my biggest (if not the biggest) guitar influences. Buddy Guy is the man.
I need some Buddy Guy. Any albums you suggest I begin with?

I don't see what's so great about Tom Petty.

robo2448 06-11-2005 03:59 PM

Somebody uploaded one of his albums in the other music thread.

Anyone else want a Classic Rock forum?

We've already discussed this, and no.

I think rock and metal should be separte forums because some of the metal heads camo into some good rock forums and totally mess it up.

Woodstock 06-11-2005 04:11 PM

If we asked for a Classic Rock Forum, all the metal fans would ask for separate metal forums. If R&M were to have one branch forum, it would probably not be Classic Rock.

robo2448 06-11-2005 04:16 PM

Compared to the total members, it's a pretty small percentage of us that would regularly post in CR forum.

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 06-11-2005 04:21 PM

The Metal community is drowning out the Classic Rock community in R&M. I'm sick and tried of argueing with these **** Metal Heads. I feel we are an entirely different community and we are in need of a new forum.

No, a Classic Rock forums is not needed, but possibly a Rock forum.

^That's kinda what I'm defending.

Badmoon 06-11-2005 04:36 PM

It's almost kind of silly how the two biggest genres get lumped together. Rock alone would most likely have more traffic than Alt & Indie and the other forums.

Yea, but if we were to split now, it would lead to a genre nazi war.

Badmoon 06-11-2005 04:42 PM
Yea, but if we were to split now, it would lead to a genre nazi war.
I wouldn't say so. The only common problem would be Alternative acts, but that's nothing new at all. Classic Metal acts also may show up (ex. Judas Priest, etc), but that is not a good enough of a reason to stop the seperation.

Metal has genre problems; Rock rarely does.

True, I suppose that was just the Black Sabbath talking.

Badmoon 06-11-2005 05:04 PM

Yea, they'd be one of the few problems.

MC5 06-11-2005 05:25 PM

A lot of ppl at my school are starting to like classic rock.Led Zeppelin and AC/DC are 2 of the favorite bands at my school. Also Black Sabbath,Van Halen, Rush, and The betales have become really popular. Although Blue Cheer and Iron Butterfly still havnt been noticed

MC5 06-11-2005 05:27 PM
well at least some of us have our heads on straight. it's a start. i'm wanna see some band come along and revitalize the classic rock style...
Wolfmother and Parchman Farm are kind of a classic/acid rock revival.

robo2448 06-11-2005 05:28 PM

Anyone like Springsteen?
My parents, especially my mom are obsessed with him, and I always liked him but now I'm really getting into him.

What happened?

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 06-11-2005 06:55 PM
What happened?
Long story. My friend went out of town and well we kinda made a bad choice to go in his house and chill for the time he was gone. It was the funnist week I've had all summer until Thursday we were all really ****ed up on shrooms and we wrecked his house and well the lady that was taking care of the house showed up right when we were sparking our 1st bowl of dro and she said "Are guys supposed to be in there" I froze. She came up stairs and gave us a long *** speech made us clean everything up tossed the dro and the rest of shrooms got out of the house and two days later I hear two of the 4 friends I was hanging with got their mom's called then a day later another friend's mom got called then today just now she came over my house and talked to my mom. Now we're all grounded for the summer and I lost a best friend and tickits to see McCartney and Allman Brothers. I'm pretty ****ed right now. :upset:

Excuse the grammer problems.^

Lets all go to http://xmradio.com/, click "Listen Now," sign up for the 3 day trial, and tune in to Channel 51. Go now! We could all use some Bonnaroo over the weekend.

wow...

are you sure there's no way you can talk them into letting you go?

Badmoon 06-11-2005 07:12 PM

I don't know his parents, but I know I could persuade my parents to let me go, even if I was grounded for three months.

Well they haven't exactly said that I can't go yet but I'm 99% sure that I'm not going. I'm very sure I can't go to see Allman Brothers but I still have a shot at McCartney.

Well, that's gotta suck.

Seafroggys 06-11-2005 07:27 PM

Well, have a Borders Gift Card, went out and bought Benefit and Disrali Gears today. Gears was alright (not as good as I thought) but Benefit had some really badass stuff on it. With Your THere to Help Me one of the sweetest songs ever.

I had also downloaded Knights in White Satin, that is also a killer song.

My uncle has "god bless the red krayola and all who sail with it"...
but its in vynil.

They are a really cool band, never got the fame they deserved, (which is good in a way).

their stuff is preety hard to find, i just listen to my uncle's record when i can

|~Iceb0x~| 06-11-2005 08:36 PM

Speaking of Classic rock has any one ever listen to Chuck Berry, I don't usally listen to him but when i do ITS GREAT MUSIC,

I would say one of the main reasons why Classic rock is on the rise is because teens are getting tried of this mainstream, HighDistortion, and Watered down Lyrics, They want to listen to something original

The Parable of Arable Land is flat out AMAZING. I can't wait to get more of their matrial. Is God Bless the Red Krayola or All Who Sail With It any good?

Texas psychedelia represent! I hope someday I'll be contributing to Texas' psychedelic reputation. :)

White_heat 06-11-2005 09:05 PM

its really good, really chanllenging to listen to, but it grows on you, especially if you are a seasoned Phycedelic listener.

I dont know how it compares to "parable", but from what ive heard "God bless..." is their best album.

By the way where did you find "The Parable of Arable Land"?
