The average metal cd in HMV or Virgin where I am is about £15, which is a crazy amount. Always have to go digging in second-hand stores.
Yeah, it's annoying. I like going into town and coming back with a couple of CDs but I always get really angry about the prices in HMV. I go second hand, even if it means I end up spending £5 more than if I was patient and ordered it off the internet.

Permanent Solution 09-22-2005 03:40 PM
That's a pretty decent haul, congratulations. OK computer, KFAD, In Absentia are all really good.
The price is a bit scary, though :(
Yeah, I think everything on there is at least a 4 star album, or just about. I'm excited. The price is really low for the quantity.
Why? That's a good price for that many albums, it is here anway.
It is anywhere to my knwledge, if somone can find me CDs for less than $5.99 as an average price I'd be amazed.
Yeah I know, it's just paying out large amounts of money scares me :(
See, I know that I spend about that much on CDs every week or two weeks as is, so I just have to restrain myself that long from getting anything else and I'm good. I buy too many CDs though.
I was led to believe that this album was the best thing since sex, and I was severely disappointed.

I listened to it a while later and it just seems to be a large pile of "Mehhhh" compressed onto a CD. A very underwhelming album IMO.
Interesting, it's a blind buy, but I've heard great things. I've heard bands similar to them and I liek them so hopefully it won't be disappointing, but if it is I'm sure I can find someone who'll like it.
<-- Jealous

If I was to buy all of those albums it'd cost me $200, if not more.
Do you live in the US?
Yeah, I know what you mean. I always get depressed when I think about how much money I've spent on CDs, but then I realise that I have nothing else to spend money on so I buy another load.
Yeah, I buy CDs, food, and stuff for my instruments. Quite pathetic, but extrememly awesome heh.
I usually pay $13-$15 around here. I like to buy online since it's usually cheaper, but it all goes on the credit card.
I never spend over $10 on CDs. Online is a lot cheaper, but so is used. I can't stand normal CD shop prices. I buy 3 for the price of one normal price :-\
i like getting used cds. theyre only 4 dollars here
$4? Even for used that is fantastic, where do you live?

The Diary Of Heavy Riva

Monday

Heavy Riva was so glad
He spent the day with his girlfriend and she was veeery pretty
But he would soon be going home early
Boo-hoo

Tuesday

HeavyRiva was so sad.
He planned the beach and it was sooooo cloudy.
He went regardless and soon was rowdy
with his friends.

Chorus

He went out that night, out on the town,
Well he just stood there mumblin' and fumblin'.
Then a voice from above said--
"HeavyRiva, you are the sober one
Doesn't mean you can't have fun.
Do a dance without a plan,
And you will have a great night, man ."

Wednesday

HeavyRiva was stressed out,
He'd had zero sleep, and now he had uni and work
No time to even visit the forums and lurk
Before he started.

-----------------

So, my days at the beginning of the week?

Well, on Monday I spent the morning with Eleese, before exercising my arse off, as part of my "Get Fit For Summer routine". I woke in pain on the Tuesday morning.

Speaking of which, the clear skies and gorgeous breezes of Monday convinced me Tuesday would be a great beach day. Having organised it, I woke on Tuesday to discover it was gloomy and cold. Still we headed on down to the beach, and had a fairly good time, which is always a plus. Then we all tramped off back to my house to watch Team America, before I had to go to work.

After work, I headed on over to Eleese's house, and picked her up to go clubbing. It was a good night in town, and I enjoyed myself in the sober fashion to which I am accustomed. We headed into a few clubs, and after a while we entered a small bar that was just refurbished, whereupon we were targeted by a good natured evangelist who was flying 7 sheets to the wind, and preaching the power of Jesus and dance. But it was fun, and I managed to shake him off without too much effort.

After 3 hours sleep, thanks to the interruption of a friendly tradesman who'd come to install new security screens, I did some uni study, then headed in to work. And there I stayed, until 10pm, whereupon I came home and collapsed.
Woah, I'm a total CD addict, but I'd never pay $30 for one. Jeez.

Anyone who pays $30 for a CD doesn't know what to do with their money. Well heres what they can do with it: give it to me!

Lunch 09-22-2005 05:57 PM

I've only payed $30+ for:
The Who LaL (Deluxe Edition)
Allmans Live at the Fillmore (Deluxe Edition)
Grateful Dead - Closing of Winterland
Phish - Live Phish 14
The Who - Quadrophenia

All 2-4 Discs, and well worth it. $30 for a single disc is outrageous.

I can respect it though, that's some true dedication to the music. \m/

Shadows 09-22-2005 06:01 PM

Well you said 'welcome to Australia' and I don't know about you, but I would judge a country on their big cities. Nub.

And CD's in big commercial stores cost around that amount as well here. A few excepted, independent stores and second hand stores are usually where it's at. Although one big store that sells about everything that's electric has a place in my heart. Cathedral CD's for a euro, what were they thinking?

And at least we can think of our own name, instead of just paying in dollars.

Hey, grammar nazi, plurals do not require apostrophes.

And just because you're so mainstream that you judge a country by its big cities, you don't have to drag us kvlt folks down.

And besides, even the independant record stores have some eye-gouging prices at times.
