I still recommend an Avatar but if you want a Bag End go for one of these:
I was planning on only buying one cab. I dont really need two. Do I?
You dont need 2 now but think about the long term. Its only a resomedation, though there are more advantages to having 2 cabs. |
What would I need two for?

Is this a good deal. |
If you want to be louder in a band or gig setting. And Having a 115 and a 210 or 410, sounds great, theres a nice balance of bass and treble. Its all about what you need and your preferance. If you only need 1 get 1.

What's the difference between the Neomydium and the standard magnets?
|

Is this a good deal.
No, its not powerful enough, you need at least 700 watts RMS. Dont just look at the peak wattage. |
For now I'm not in a band. I play stuff that ranges from progressive to classical to shred, but I also play lots of funk. What setup would you suggest for that? I hear avatars 2x12 is a good stand alone cab, but would a 2x10 and 1x15 be better for my music?
|
What's the difference between the Neomydium and the standard magnets?
Neodynium is a very powerful magnet, thus you can use a smaller magnet made of neodynium in a speaker making it lighter and in some casses more powerful. |
so... Avatar Neo or Avatar Delta? Which would give me a clearer sound?
|

A 212 will be fine, though a 210/115 setup woud give you better sound definition in the very high and low ranges. |
Okay, I've decided to just hit the BX3000T. As I plan to go two cabs anyhow, 300 watts should be more than enough for the setting I'll be using them in. Besides, my guitarist has a THIRTY FRIGGIN' WATT AMP. Any future gigs won't need more than the 300 watts that the BX3000T + two cabs can give me. I'm going 2x12 + 4x10 so it'll be loud either way.
so... Avatar Neo or Avatar Delta? Which would give me a clearer sound?
Neo. |
So should I get an 8 ohm 2x10 for now?
|
Hey, did Avatar stop selling Ashdown heads?
|
Hey, did Avatar stop selling Ashdown heads?
No. From what I recall, an Avatar 2x12 + Ashdown MAG300H is 500-some USD. 4x10+2x12 Avatar for me. I'll have a kickass rig by Christmas time. :D |
so... Avatar Neo or Avatar Delta? Which would give me a clearer sound?
Thier about the same sound wise the only major difference is that the NEO is lighter. The sound difference is minimul. |
I was leaning towards a 4x10...
|
I dont recommend avatar 4x10. From what Ive heard, its just loud. Not very good dound quality.
|
So should I get an 8 ohm 2x10 for now?
If thats what you want. |

The 410 Delta is OK, but the PRO is fantastic. |
I haven't extensively tried different speaker configs, so I dont know. Which would handle highs as well as a B string (for when i get a 6er)
|
Well for a 6er I recommend a 2 cab setup, like a 10/15. The 15 will really hold down that B while the highs will sing out of the 10s.
|
Okay, so maybe I will just get the 2x10. Its cheaper and if it supports my needs more, Ill go for it. Which speakers do you recommend? Delta, Neo, or Pro?
(What I really want is an SWR Henry the 8x8 haha) |
The 95 pounds on the Avatar 4x10 Pro is sort of scary. :p I might just go for a 2x10 Pro.
|
Delta is thier basic, Neo is a bit better and lighter, and the Pro is the creme of the ceop, it depends on how much you want to spend.
|
95 isn't too much....
|
I'd heard that two excellent rigs are the 2x12+2x10 and 2x12+1x15.
|
95 isn't too much....
Where I have the music stuff in my house is the 3rd floor. |
Probably neo. I can afford to spend the extra 20. Why is it better?
|
So the 40$ more is worth it, tenfold?
|
Probably neo. I can afford to spend the extra 20. Why is it better?
Lighter magnets. I'd say go Pro if you're going 2x10. |
Where I have the music stuff in my house is the 3rd floor.
See, I DON'T HAVE STAIRS!!! Freedom! |
Its worth springing for the Pro, its really an incredible cab.
|
See, I DON'T HAVE STAIRS!!!
Freedom!
The stairs in my house going up to the third floor suck too in that they're spiral. :upset: On the plus side, I have the entire third floor to myself. After December, the big one is going to be a sick room. |
I'll think about it after a possible trip to me local GC to look at cabs and heads...
|
I also recommend getting the casters, they really help, its a lot harder to pickup or push a 90 pound cab, then it is to roll it.
|
Whats the difference in the 3 cabs?
|
I'll get the casters, though. Save me some trouble.
|
^ If I go 2x10 and 2x12 I'll have 65 pound and a 72 pound cabs to deal with (respectively). I'll still try and get them for the 2x12, I think.
