Well, regardless of all this, wednesday I will be going to a concert that includes the likes of Robert Randolph and the Family Band, who is not classic rock, but is one of the greatest slide guitarists ever, so piss.
Robert Randolph is awesome. He's coming somewhere around me, don't know if I'll be able to go, though.

Illmatic 06-09-2005 06:08 PM

I've seen Robert Randolph before.

jpj 06-09-2005 06:14 PM

I just found out the show is free. That should increase my chances of going.

Boo mines 40$ because its at the bigget ripoff venue on earth and includes some guy named Dave Matthews.

He's gonna be opening for DMB here, too. He should definitely be headlining.

Meh I don't really care. Daves good too and he gets people in the door. A lot of people will go just for Robert Randolph, but it will get him a lot of new fans as well.

robo2448 06-09-2005 06:28 PM

DMB is much more popular, I don't understand why, but I'd certainly go to that show just to see Randolph.

How was it?

ATM 06-09-2005 06:50 PM

I was reading a review of a Santana concert, and it made me so angry.

It was like "People didn't come to the show to rock, they came to dance! Santana played his smash hit Smooth! He ended the set with Black Magic Woman, which was when most people began heading for the exits."

 Leaving during Black Magic Woman! That's disgraceful!

Against Miik! 06-09-2005 06:57 PM

Um who wrote that? Anyone who goes to a Santana show just to here Smooth can blow me, even though thats the song my AIM name is based on.

Broken Arrow 06-09-2005 07:11 PM

The Harder they Come is pretty good, although I prefer Marley more but whatever, I like it.

Many do, but I haven't heard one Marley & The Wailers album as good as THTC. Exodus and Natty Dread come close though. (IMO)

It was in the Washington Post.

^ newspapers suck. What an idiot.

Dr.SLASH 06-09-2005 07:43 PM

i guess alot of bands arn't hitting the acid and pot as much as they used to....na i think simon cowel and punk bands are ruining music you can only do so many four chord progressions with e minor shape barr chord before it all sounds the same and the idol contest voice can have little or no influence on a artists creativity so you end up with a bunch vocal gymnists who when they win you pray to god your not going to see there face again,

Take a deep breath, then try again.

Dr.SLASH 06-09-2005 08:02 PM

just my veiw on why classic rock is getting younger listners because its hard to find the good music when the radio and tv is covered in crap

Dr.SLASH 06-09-2005 08:05 PM

know it was a bit long winded but this is page 1381 i thought screw trying to catch up with the conversation i'll just type something

I'm not a fan of Santana, but that^ annoys me anyway. When I'm in the mood for it, Black Magic Woman is awesome, but that's about all the Santana I can take.

Anyone going to the Chicago Blues Festival? Buddy Guy's gonna be there. I would go if I could drive, but I can't.:(

I think I've convinced my dad that we need to go to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame sometime in July, so that'll be fun.

I like Aoxomoxoa mostly for Cosmic Charlie, but Saint Stephen and Dupree's Diamond Blues are cool too.

I don't think I've heard anything from Robert Randolph.

I could go, but probably won't. I wouldn't go for Buddy Guy (I can see him anywhere; he even has his own restaurant), but for John Mayall.

I didn't know John Mayall was going to be there. Only 60 miles away and I can't go. I really need to get to see somebody live.

jpj: If you upload something, will it take forever for me to get to hear it since I still have dial-up?

Well, YSI is currently not working for, so nothing will be uploaded :(

But you should definitely try downloading some of his stuff.

thickasabrick 06-09-2005 10:55 PM

We are playing Evil Ways by Santana as one of the songs during our "cowbell medley" it's gonna be awesome.

And I saw Robert Randolph playing at a concert on tv, he was amazing. I'm trying to think who he was with, but I don't remember.

Ben Harper And The Blind Boys of Alabama did an amazing album together. I was gonna see Ben Harper and Trey Anastasio on the Zooma tour this summer but the fags cancelled it.

John Mayall is great. Love his solo stuff, and love his stuff with Clapton and the Blues Breakers.

My dads met him a couple times and said it was funny how many people would have him sign a guitar when he sings and plays harmonica :)

Woodstock 06-10-2005 09:04 AM

I saw Robert Randolph on the Crossroads Festival. I should really buy that DVD, it was a great show.

Cool. I know it's a pop song, for the most part, but it's a damn good one. Does anyone else have the Santana 'Legacy Edition' remaster? Two discs of brilliance. It's got the original studio album, a bunch of studio outtakes (with my favourite version of Soul Sacrifice), and their entire woodstock set. Very cool. Well recommended.

that dvd is great anyway. awe inspiring performances by clapton (of course), mclaughlin, vai, and others. hubert sumlin, hownlin' wolf's guitarist makes a few appearances. and buddy guy is a badass. theres nothing more to say about him.
