I still refuse to forgive Will Smith for his product-placement laden treatment of Asimov's I, Robot.

The (original) Men in Black was pretty awesome though.

Silenius 01-19-2008 07:13 PM

Yeah Asimov is a badass (Nightfall anyone?) and making his stories into films requires a lot of attention to detail which I, Robot clearly lacked.
I Am Legend's ending ****ing sucks.
I agree. I saw it and was like wtf that's it :-/
I agree. I saw it and was like wtf that's it :-/
They should have at least kind of explained what happened beyond that, but they just expect you to assume that they cured the diseased people...

Apocalypticon 01-19-2008 07:38 PM

I really wanted everyone to die in the end of I Am Legend

Shred Danson 01-19-2008 07:38 PM

I would've been down for a Sopranos-type ending where the screen cut black right after he dies then it says in big bold font "READ THE BOOK, FAGGOT"

Steerpike 01-19-2008 08:02 PM

Just saw Cloverfield. Here's my review.

Cloverfield: The Review

Cloverfield: holy shit!

Angmar 01-19-2008 08:05 PM

I thought Cloverfield looked kinda lame, I might go see it.

LifeInABox 01-19-2008 08:06 PM

It looks awesome you ****ing **** ****er **** ****it

Steerpike 01-19-2008 08:14 PM

What I liked about it was that there were no fucking answers!

What is the Cloverfield monster?
Good question. You see it, and the characters guess at it a few times, but nobody knows.

Where did it come from?
See above.

What happened to the chick who got bit?
My friend Greg and I have about 4 different theories running right now.

The movie raised so many questions and didn't answer any of them. Rather Romero-esque actually.

Iluvatar 01-19-2008 08:20 PM

It is explained a little bit by the production notes.

A little bit.

pulseczar 01-19-2008 08:22 PM

the biggest question left unanswered is what happened to natalie imbruglia's career lol zing

Iluvatar 01-19-2008 08:23 PM

She went on to have success in the UK and nowhere else.

but Torn still rules.

pulseczar 01-19-2008 08:27 PM

Okay then.

Tyler 01-19-2008 08:27 PM

Isn't she acting now?

Shred Danson 01-19-2008 08:27 PM

I'd still **** the hell outta her

Iluvatar 01-19-2008 08:34 PM

She is trying to act, but she still has a music career and plans to release something in the next year or two.

She released a set of singles last year called "Glorious" which was quite good.

Steerpike 01-19-2008 08:42 PM
It is explained a little bit by the production notes.

A little bit.
Then I have no interest in reading it. The mystery is much more appealling.

Iluvatar 01-19-2008 08:55 PM

It really only tells you the tiniest little detail about the monster really.

I was kind of hoping the movie would explain more tbh.

DBlitz 01-19-2008 08:59 PM

Yea but that kind of makes it better in some way. The characters had no way to find out about the monster. But when it ended I realized how much wasn't shed. They could explain it in a sequel or something

big80smullet 01-19-2008 09:15 PM

Sup guys. I am tired from drinking till late last night

1338 h4x0r 01-19-2008 09:17 PM
Yeah Asimov is a badass (Nightfall anyone?) and making his stories into films requires a lot of attention to detail which I, Robot clearly lacked.
I dunno. The ethical message of I, Robot was really pretty simple and powerful. I'm pretty sure Asimov's Laws of Robotics are taught as part of the cirriculum in some university-level robotics courses.

If I were the director, I wouldn't have buried that under a load of CGI faggоtry that had very little relation to the actual stories. It's like they went out of their way to fuсk it up. If you ever saw how I reacted to the bullshіt about Aragorn falling over the edge of a cliff in The Two Towers (gaaaaay), you can pretty much infer what I thought of I, Robot the movie. It sucked the gay right out of Liberace's anus.

Shattered_Future 01-19-2008 09:26 PM

I enjoyed I, Robot. Sure, they could have done a better job with it, but the acting was solid.

1338 h4x0r 01-19-2008 09:33 PM

It was full of really gay 'droids that made C3P0 look like Sigurd.

Shattered_Future 01-19-2008 09:35 PM

That is true. The robots' BAMF factor was probably lower than Billy Joel mating with a flower.

Apocalypticon 01-19-2008 10:25 PM

sup thread

just finished watching Boys N The Hood, christ what a good movie, although I can't relate to it in any way

Nostalgia 01-19-2008 10:34 PM

Jacked Up is the best gangsta' movie I've ever seen.

Apocalypticon 01-19-2008 10:35 PM

Boyz N The Hood is way more than just a gangsta movie

Nostalgia 01-19-2008 10:37 PM

Oh ok Steve.

+1 in reputation for that remark.
Is Cloverfield worth walking 5 miles to go see (for free at least).

My car's brakes aren't working right and no one I know wants to go see it.
Hmmm... If you don't got anything else better to do. Yeah. It's an awesome movie.

Glitterati 01-19-2008 11:32 PM

I watched Dead Man Walking tonight, that was pretty gangster.

1338 h4x0r 01-19-2008 11:36 PM
wtf is wrong with you
They took a steaming shіt on the book in The Two Towers. Making Legolas an 'Xtreme Sk8bord Warrior' was also pretty annoying. In spite of that, I still love The Two Towers because of the Rohirrim; they make me feel like saying stuff like "The Muster of Rohan was a fun hobby army until Hellhammer and Dead joined." Also, Miranda Otto == boners.

publicastration 01-19-2008 11:39 PM

The skateboarding bit was a little silly, but it's ONE 3 second piece in a 3 hour film.

The LOTR films are brilliant, especially the extended ones.

I agree, the charge of the Rohirrim at Pelennor Fields gave me a surging erection, but wtf was with the Witch-King of Angmar breaking Gandalf's staff in RotK?

publicastration 01-19-2008 11:46 PM

What's wrong with that?

Also earlier he said "I will break him" and that would do it, effectively cripple him magically until he could aquire another one.

Tyler 01-19-2008 11:49 PM

nerds

big80smullet 01-19-2008 11:51 PM
