I,ve just been reading a lot of stuff about Cliff, it's weird when your listening to his music and reading that. Just wish there was more footage of him playing.

Magero 08-13-2005 11:09 PM

OMG! I'm listening to the ST. Anger Rehearsals DVD.James is playing a custom built 7-string forest on Some Kind Of Monster, You cant hear Kirk playing at all, James keeps forgetting all the words and Rob is f***ing mad! I noticed that James plays a lot of the points where it's only one guitar. It's like He and Kirk swapped places. Oh and NEVER let Kirk sing. And on the subject of songs to play (sorry i'm behind) For Whom The Bell Tolls is good but if I have to play it one more time, i'm going to embed my guitar in my own head!

I haven't watched that in ages. The only part i can remember is Kirk fúcking up at the beginning(sp?) of a song.

exup 08-14-2005 07:38 AM

Jev 08-14-2005 07:40 AM

no we havent anof experience so we first gona cover :p

Jev 08-14-2005 07:53 AM

Write originals. I do, most of them aren't that long but if i'm playing them live and screw up, no-one but me is going to notice. If you screw up a cover everyone's gonna notice.

lightningmetal666 08-14-2005 09:51 AM

I love the part on Some Kinda Monster (I was watching it again on VH1)
where on fan appreciation day people got the chance to jam with Metallica.
I thought it was awesome when that hot chick got to play Seek and Destroy with the band.

The commentary to the film on DVD is hilarious in places.

I want to buy the DVD but srry no cash. (haven't gotten paid yet. ;) )
I've only seen it twice on VH1.

Just saw Some Kind of Monster last night on VH1, and I thought it was actually a great film. Interesting look into the internal workings of the band.

With your own song you can totally fúck up and then go "Yeah, that's part of the song, I meant to do that" and nobody will know :shifty:

Yeah, I own the dvd. The best documentary on them :thumb:

Schecterguitarist 08-14-2005 01:50 PM

The documentary SKOM is rly something els u get a whole new perspective on these guys on their individual personalities and not just as crazy rock stars. I like the part wen mustaine talks to ulrich about how ****ty james and lars made him feel wen they kiked him out. He says that he was happy in metallica and the small things were the coolest and most special parts of hanging out wit them (like dave sed that him and lars once talked about diggin a hole in the ground and smokin hash right from the earth, the small things u kno?). Dave also tells them that he hates thinkin of himself as #2 wen he was #1, and he keeps thiknin " I f**ked up!". Its just interesting to c how theyve changed and how they respect eachother so much mor now. I luv the part wen bob and kirk are on jet skis and they bump into eachother at like 20 miles an hour and bob says SH*T lol

Father_Jack 08-14-2005 02:43 PM

Yeah, the bit with Dave talking with the theropy guy was the best. When Dave talked about how some people shout "Yeah Metallica(!)" and stuff when they see him, made me wanna punch these people. And I also thought James was a bit of a dick really at times.

RustedPieces 08-14-2005 02:45 PM

I thought the stuff in the bonus features with Dave was better than what they actually put in the movie. How he talks about how he broke some guys leg because he hurt Lars or something.

Joe 08-14-2005 02:45 PM

So the first thing I see after a week vacation is terrible AIM talk... great...

SKOM was a great dvd.

See, I knew there was a reason why you hadn't posted

I was in the Middleofnowhere, Massachusetts.

I just downloaded In Flames- Dialouge with the Stars and it's a great instrumental. Metallica should do one like it. Only 3 minutes, some very cool but not difficult or complex solos, and some nice easy riffs (fun to listen to, finally one to learn)

rip-metal_rules 08-14-2005 03:04 PM

You know,I'm sort of happy that Dave was kicked out. If that hadn't happened, there would be no Megadeth and I love Megadeth. It's cool how "Hangar 18" sounds like "The Call of Ktulu".

Joe 08-14-2005 03:08 PM

I'm very happy. I like the Kirk stuff with Metallica than any of the Dave stuff. Dave headed it towards a more thrashy band, which I don't like as much. If it was this thrashy I would have never gotten into Metallica. Since, I've gotten into thrash (like KEA) and so I've grown to like Megadeth too

geezer6970 08-14-2005 03:21 PM

Whats the best metallica album in your guys' opinion?

Joe 08-14-2005 03:22 PM

I like Ride the Lightning the most because it has my favorite songs on it, except Master of Puppets has more good songs on it. So it's a toss up for me

Six Foot Revolver 08-14-2005 03:26 PM
Whats the best metallica album in your guys' opinion?
Ride The Lightning followed by Master Of Puppets

TojesDolan 08-14-2005 03:30 PM

Ride the lightning has it's great moments, and Master of puppets has a lot of energy, but Kill 'em all is both. But in personal taste, MoP wins the bet.

heavy metal kid 08-14-2005 04:30 PM

Ride the Lightning, it's their best album, lots of energy, great solos, good basslines.

Chu 08-14-2005 05:29 PM

Ride The Lightning!

I love it, best album ever in my opinion :)
Great bass lines, great rhythm, great lead, and James' best vocals (Well, it's really a tie between Ride and Master for vocals imo)

Not one song on this album I skip!

Then I'd say No Life 'Til Leather, Master of Puppets and Kill 'em All.
