Britton 01-08-2006 02:31 PM
Yeah, if it wasnt for hammetts imperfections, we wouldn't have the cool ass bend off the fretboard in the master of puppets solo \m/  \m/
Seriously you whore, quit advertising.

timmySmi 01-08-2006 05:34 PM

I don't see Metallica going thrash again there last (real) thrash album was 18 years ago.they are completely different musicians from way back then and making different music so all you thrash metal lovers prepared to be dissapointed. There nexted album is either going to sound like an improvised ST Anger or The Black Album. Keep in mind thats my opinion.:smoke:

Bazarov 01-08-2006 05:38 PM

Well, I'm pretty damn sure there will be solos. And I'm pretty damn sure it'll be more along the lines of older Metallica since Kirk said it was more "jurassic metal". Which I would guess is him hinting it is going to sound more to their roots.

heres to hoping it doesn't suck :chug:

Britton 01-08-2006 05:45 PM

Dude it's not gonna suck...well it could bt I don't see that happening.

When is coming out? april may?

Grimm 01-08-2006 05:53 PM

If there's a instrumental on the new album, it means they're goin back to the early days.and that would be good, all their instrumentals are awesome (even if to live is to die has barely legible bass).

NP: Solitude - Black Sabbath:cool:

Britton 01-08-2006 05:57 PM

Hey does anyone want to go fight with the A7X fans in their thread.

They're saying Metallica sold cause they made a music video.

anyway

has anyone bought anything from the online store? is it good qaulity stuff?

Bazarov 01-08-2006 05:58 PM

Doesn't A7X have music videos?

Sph 01-08-2006 05:59 PM

Instrumentals = cool. It would kick ass if the new album had one.

Britton 01-08-2006 06:00 PM
Doesn't A7X have music videos?
Yea it's really gay cause if you are gonna say Metallica sold out cause they changed their style and made music videos then A7X are just as much sellouts.
at least Metallica can make more then one album in a particular style

Bazarov 01-08-2006 06:02 PM

I agree. Anyways, I think A7X is overrated and suck. So I'm not going to even bother to post in the thread.

Britton 01-08-2006 06:04 PM

I'm thinking about getting a Metallica wallet. My other one got jacked

BLS_Infernus2.0 01-08-2006 06:39 PM

Bazarov 01-08-2006 06:42 PM

Were you banned because of it?

BLS_Infernus2.0 01-08-2006 06:43 PM

no I don't know why I was banned it had something to do with chad messing up the guitar forum section

Bazarov 01-08-2006 06:43 PM

Oh. Damn Teh Poonless Avenger!

Britton 01-08-2006 07:01 PM

Yup, I play guitar.

ValeOfShadows 01-08-2006 07:13 PM

why does everyone play guitar? Is it because its easier to learn but harder to play?

Bazarov 01-08-2006 07:17 PM
why does everyone play guitar? Is it because its easier to learn but harder to play?
I've noticed that in this generation of teens, many have played guitar at one point or another. Some continue, like myself, and others realize that they picked it up for the wrong reasons, or go to a different instrument.

I chose to play guitar because I wanted to be able to play fast solos.

Dimebag Dom 01-08-2006 07:47 PM

Yeh the fast solos reason....

mr black 01-08-2006 07:59 PM

It's just a really accesable instrument that one can pick up and play any where any time, and learning things is (or was) as easy as typing a name of a song into a search...

BLS_Infernus2.0 01-08-2006 08:09 PM

fast soloing

you haven't seen to many good bass players or drummers I take it

STRETCH 01-08-2006 08:09 PM

drums are fun too

Ghost Of Perdition 01-08-2006 08:24 PM

I think people start for the factor of 'looking cool'
not the factor of learning to one day, create and play music that will influence people.

But looking cool is a bonus...

Bazarov 01-08-2006 08:39 PM
fast soloing

AHAHAHAHA!

Yes I have. I know plenty fast drummers. But the fact is when I was like 12 I wanted to be able to play the solos that I heard on my favorite CD's.

iluvkirkhammett 01-08-2006 09:32 PM
why does everyone play guitar? Is it because its easier to learn but harder to play?
Because it's fun, and I love Kirk Hammett....

Grimm 01-08-2006 10:05 PM

I reckon people these days learn to play guitar because there's heaps of famous guitar players.Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Page, Carlos Santana, and of course, Kirk Hammet.where as Drummers and Bass players aren't as famous(probably gonna be proven wrong). You don't always here about people like Tommy Lee or Gene Simmons gettin an awesome solo in a song, although we get that a fair bit here in R&M (not of these particular rythm players).but in the long run, rythm doesn't get as much praise as a wacked out guitar solo. I play bass, but thats coz on a regular guitar, i can't get as much coordination on the smaller strings and frets.

W.M.A 01-08-2006 10:18 PM

i know a lot of people who play guitar just so they can sit at home and play songs they know, and then when it becomes too hard, they quit wasting hundreds of dollars of tuition fees.
its true guitarists are generally given much more publicity than bass players.

ValeOfShadows 01-08-2006 10:34 PM

Ahh...im not going to flame you but there are many famous drummers. Mike Portnoy, Dave Weckl, Virgil Donati, Buddy Rich. Actually i suppose your right i bet most of you havent heard of some of them.

Grimm 01-08-2006 10:37 PM

Yeah i suppose i haven't heard of many famous drummers.but then again, i post here, and i have never heard lars do a solo.people talk about him doing a solo, but i'm beggining to think its a myth.

Curse this young and innexperienced mind!

ValeOfShadows 01-08-2006 10:47 PM

Well drummers are basically only famous to other drummers.

BLS_Infernus2.0 01-08-2006 10:51 PM

I see your point but Hetfield gets more praise in the general public as a guitar player then Hammett does. I saw in a mag. called "Greatest Guitars of All Time" and Hetfield was 54 and Hammett wasn't on the list nor was Steve Vai, Satriani, Zakk Wylde and a long list of other great guitar players

blue3 01-08-2006 10:54 PM

Those lists suck most of the time.

Lars did a drum solo when he was going at it against James at live shit binge and purge I think.

But yea, guitarists are more famous than bassists and drummers. Majority of people who listen to popular music know many guitarists and barely any drummers or bassists.
