milkmit 04-11-2006 07:15 PM

any cyclists here?

I'm thinking of buying a used cannondale m400 bike for $150.
my main needs are a light, durable frame (this one is aluminum, and is said to be amazingly in light, strong, and sexy), and a decent number of gears (this has 21).

I'm torn between this or a road bike...... ugh..

Janeway 04-11-2006 07:17 PM

*cough*dirtyhippiefreak*cough*

White 04-11-2006 07:18 PM

roadbike. I used to Love biking with a passion before drums got to into the way. but 150$ you could only get a cheap roadbike lol. Im talking a vintage beast. ut ya, I would say go with a roadbike, they are very lightweight and good for transportation

3,000th POST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

milkmit 04-11-2006 07:33 PM

hmmm.. yeah I'm thinking I'm better off with a roadbike (though I do prefer mountain bike bars)....and would be willing to pay a bit more for a used one.. but this thing isn't so bad. from what I've read, it retailed for about $600 in ~2000, so assuming it was maintained well, I think $150 seems like a decent deal....especially since everything I've read has so much good things to say about the aluminum frame!

Double Bass Jim 04-11-2006 08:18 PM

We_Love_Lime 04-11-2006 08:41 PM

Hey Berk. I got some math for you.

You have had just about 1442 posts in 4 months correct? Yet you dub yourself MX's fastest poster?

Lets see. Chippy569 has 5742 posts over a course of 12 months correct?

Now lets do a little 8th grade math. And set this up as a proportion.

1142 X
4 = 12

The X is in there to show how many posts Chippy needs to be equal to your 1142 posts in 4 months.

Do a little cross multiplying and you get:

13704=4x.

Divide both sides by four and you get: X=3426.

That is how many posts he needs to be equal to your posts per months ratio?

But infact he ACTUALLY has 2316 more posts than the requirement.

Berk11= Mx's fastest poster? I think not.

A question to highschool students:

Are school guidance counselors supposed to be so nosy? Are they supposed to call you into their office to "talk" if they think you have a problem of some sort? I thought they were just there for if you wanted to talk to them.

mysticalyeti 04-11-2006 09:06 PM

Yeah, well I own at slow posting.

DuckinFutch8 04-11-2006 09:12 PM

nice...

And I don't know, I've never really had problems at school, I've only gone in there to ask about stuff... Are you failing a class or something?

Double Bass Jim 04-11-2006 09:15 PM

Not so much in HS but in middle school the counslers always tried to talk to you

"You know Jim.. you're failing every class again mabey you should try harder this semester" Naaa........

No, I'm a lame nerd and have good marks in all my classes. The guidance counselor just noticed a small detail about me lately and jumped to conclusions, so she called me to her office to talk to me because she was concerned I might have a "problem".

Chippy569 04-11-2006 09:47 PM

that's what they're supposed to do, what would you do with 8 hours and free access to lots of students' personal files and stuff? (hint: not switch classes all day)

but yes, actually, that's why they're "guidance" counselors, to... guide. And who in hell is honestly going to *ask* their counsellor for help?

Juicy_Forlorn 04-11-2006 09:54 PM

I would understand if it was obvious that the student had a problem, but in my case, she just jumped to conclusions. There wasn't really any real reason to think I had a problem :-/

PremierManiac 04-11-2006 09:56 PM

Our guidance counselors don't do crap. I've talked with my counselor twice in my three years of high school and have been utterly pissed off twice. The first time was when she told me I needed to take the ACT test to get into college, and when I told her I already took it and got a 33 (out of 36), she said I should retake it to "make sure". Dumb b****. The second time was worse. Guidance was calling everyone down one by one to talk about their plans after high school, and when I told her I wanted to try to be a proffessional musician in addition to becoming an architect, she told me to be realistic and focus on a real career. I instantly got up and left.

Janeway 04-11-2006 10:28 PM

I <3 my counselor.
When she found out I was gay, she started calling me down every few weeks and talking to me for sometimes two full periods. She asks me questions about how I figured it out, what I did when I did, and what I think should be done in educational programs to deal with homosexuality.
I'm not supposed to tell anyone about it, because she'd totally get fired for it. But god. It makes me feel good when I get done.

Futuro 04-11-2006 10:39 PM

I want to learn complete finger and limb independance, then master the art of percussion, then master the art of Stick.

Next I will release a solo album of 4 limb independance drumming, and 10 finger 2 footed (wah and effects) stick playing.

Finally die a happy man. :cool:

Double Bass Jim 04-11-2006 10:40 PM

Just learn the guitar solo from holy diver man

Thats all you need to do.. trust me

Yeah it is awsome. Good song.

I was just making a joke, like I had enough time to learn 10 finger independance, but not enough to down tune :p
