are there any songs on this transylvanian hunger disc that aren't five minutes of the same boring blastbeat over and over
Dude! You're killing me!

masscows 11-12-2009 10:59 AM
I don't want stupid grimness, i just want evil sounding riffs and not fast punk with with shrieking :upset:
Darkthrone - A Blaze in the Northern Sky is probably more up your alley than TH. It's soooo evil, honestly. Still kinda punky in spots but it's not as one-dimensional.

same here. its way better.

RetiredAt21 11-12-2009 11:39 AM

Transilvanian Hunger isn't punk at all, wtf. Are we listening to the same album?

EDIT: @ Alex

illmitch 11-12-2009 02:48 PM

i think it has punk influence

Txus 11-12-2009 03:08 PM

Yes, it does. Even Fenriz said it does.

But it's definitely not a "happy sounding" record.

RetiredAt21 11-12-2009 03:14 PM

All I hear is coldness, bleak riffs, torturous vocals and blast beats. None of that stuff is punk.

Tyler 11-12-2009 03:17 PM

The punk influence came much later IMO. I mean, there's still a shred of it on TH simply because of how the genre was influenced, but I wouldn't say there's any actual 'punk' on it.

RetiredAt21 11-12-2009 03:19 PM

Just because they've always loved punk and stuff doesn't mean TH sounds punk or even remotely punk influenced.

Nepenthe 11-12-2009 03:49 PM

punk influence is not apparent at all on TH

masscows 11-12-2009 06:33 PM

There's alot of punk influence on ABITNS. The d-beat part on in the shadow of the horns is the first one I remember off the top of my head.

As for TH, I've heard it compared to Discharge and while I don't hear it it's probably more apparent to someone who doesn't really listen to alot of black metal, since a person who does would be viewing it through a lens of "black metal literacy", so to speak.

On a side note I'm really digging Nyktalgia ALOT.

RetiredAt21 11-12-2009 06:36 PM

LOL comparing TH to Discharge is retarded. Sounds nothing alike.

Been heiling Drawing Down the Moon a lot lately.

Nostalgia 11-12-2009 06:36 PM

they're all right, kind of forgettable.

any of you guys listen to Carpathian Forest's Journey through? I used to whore it a while back, but I'm not sure anyone picked it up. One of my favorite black metal albums, I don't think it's like their later stuff but I never listened to it to begin with. It sounds like depressive black metal I guess (high shrieks, mid-paced, etc) but it was before any modern depressive act.

RetiredAt21 11-12-2009 06:37 PM

I'll dl it but I've never heard any Carpathian Forest that I thought was good.

Carl Sagan 11-12-2009 06:38 PM

not many people have heard it justin its okay for you to like it

Nostalgia 11-12-2009 06:39 PM
The music on this demo is not black metal and is different from the usual CF
sound. It is completely atmospheric with synths and acoustic guitars.
description on m-a. the first song is black metal, dunno what he's talking about there, but the rest is completely experimental.

I like lots of popular stuff don't be that way.
I'll dl it but I've never heard any Carpathian Forest that I thought was good.
It's nothing like their full-lengths, I wouldn't really call it black metal even. It's stupid good, though.

Nostalgia 11-12-2009 06:45 PM

the first song is

RetiredAt21 11-12-2009 06:45 PM

DL'ing now.

masscows 11-12-2009 06:46 PM

I'd have to relisten, it's been probably a year since I last heard it :x

RetiredAt21 11-12-2009 06:46 PM

nvm just read that description sounds kinda gay.

Nostalgia 11-12-2009 06:46 PM

its the best song on the albums. lyrics rule too

Ahh, dance through the cold shadows of Pan
as tears fall from heaven
once I had hold the rarest rose
But, that is now forgotten with time

Among the tree's I wandered
To feel the embrace of etemal eclipse
as my candle bums out
-And we must make the myths

Dark is the moon at harvest
the nightly mist approaches
through the forlorned marshes
-Then darkness has now been achieved

Crush your earthly virtnes
As I stumbled through snow and frost
my feeble heart is longing for the wood
where all dark cast a shadow

It's pale morrow landscape
Has now risen through the bleak night
over the moors and mountains
Flies the hunting ravens, searching

Dance through the cold shadows of Pan
As tears fall from heaven
Then, once I had hold the rarest rose

Frozen is my pagan heart
And once again the dawn is here
hear the sound of silence
In these trees
Are my gallows
nvm just read that description sounds kinda gay.
