THe term 'shred' is so open ended these days. I think, as far as Adam's playing style goes, that is shred for him.
Although listening again, it wouldn suprise me is that little end bit was mainly Justin. |
Just saw these dates over at the ToolHotline..fvck, and sadly I can't make it to any...*beats roommate*
May 2 Seattle - The Paramount May 4 Oakland - The Paramount Theatre May 5 Las Vegas - The Joint May 6 Phoenix - Gammage Auditorium May 8 Dallas - McFarlin Auditorium May 10 Denver - Temple Buell Theatre May 11 Kansas City - Memorial Hall May 12 Minneapolis - Orpheum Theatre May 13 Chicago - Auditorium Theatre May 15 Detroit - Fox Theatre May 16 Toronto - Hummingbird Centre May 18 Philadelphia - Tower Theatre May 19 New York City - City Center May 20 New York City - City Center May 22 Boston - Orpheum Theatre |
i would HARDLY characterize that as shred guys
And thank god for that. I never want to hear Adam shred on a Tool song, ever. |
Oh my word, yes!!
Frances kicks the shit out of De-Loused, and it's one of my favourite albums. In 30 years, we'll look back on The Mars Volta the way we do 70's prog bands now. That's right, I said it.
I don't know. I have phases with them. Sometimes I love them, but for the most part I find them to be rather annoying. I agree they are talented, but I'm somewhat put off by how "loose" their live performances are. I prefer a tighter prog sound (i.e. Rush). |

I've been dying to see them live. |
May 18 Philadelphia - Tower Theatre
WHAT!!! someone, plz find me a link for tickets |
Least I can now take what people are saying about it and compare to what i've heard now. It also confirms what I thought about people who think its such a terrible thing, are the ones that had a closed mind towards Lateralus
I was always openminded towards Lateralus. I just hate how nothing has changed in their sound. Undertow to Aenima, Aenima to Lateralus, makes it seem like they're gonna do the same stuff as they did on Lateralus. Those dates can't be right. They would never skip over Milwaukee. |

id=3SO1BORYMY8J43LK8OAGAKN907 heres a re-up for the lazy bitches :thumb: as far as "changing their sound" its one fukking track man. There has YET to be a track by TOoL that i cant recognize as TOoL. Not because I've heard the song before, could tell the alubum, year released, etc., but because of the fact that TOoL is its own sound, and is recognizeable by their "fans" |
Well I'm not saying it has to be unrecognizabel to do somthing different. It's obvious to me that it is one track and that I should judge the album as a whole when it comes out, but this track makes me not so excited.

see, i was quite the opposite. I didnt want an album like Ticks & Leeches for 74 minutes |
You're not understanding me here...
I'm saying it sounds like the new single is just a track that didn't make it on Lateralus. The album isn't out yet but this track makes me alot less anxious for it. The singles have always been more expositive to the rest of the album in the past. |
i wouldnt say that at all man
if you went through the list, really Schism is the only one you could say that about, and it hardly reflected the entire album with that one single sober/prison sex : no ænima : no (wtf swear filter) opiate/hush : even further from the rest of the album maybe 46&2, but even that. I always feel theres songs are different from one another |
Where did you find those tour dates? They don't look like they are correct at all.
|
Man Moses... You're such a pessimist, haha

They're on toolband |

Sucks for you. The sound has changed from Lateralus, the vocals are different to anything Tool has done. The lyrics are in a new style. The bass is similar to Lateralus or Ænima, but I see nothing wrong with that, it's a great style which I enjoy. the guitar is Adam Jones through and through, sounding a little different to Lateralus. And the drums, well, they sound nothing like Lateralus, especially with the inclusion of more electronic segments and melodic parts. As for the song as a whole, it's more energetic and seems to have more changes in the song structure quicker than anything from Lateralus. Not to mention all the cool little goodies in the song; The weird half sung part "Half vampire, etc." The news report about 5 minutes in buried under the guitars. The way the guitar cuts out and leaves the drum and bass and vocals wasn't on Lateralus in the way it's done here. etc. etc. Like I say, sucks for you. I agree there are simularities with Lateralus, but this dosn't sound like a Lateralus B-side even slightly, even though it's possible some of the riffs maybe are. The song is quality and production and feel makes it different. |

Spending my whole spring break without gettin any makes me like this. |
o come on..
did you really think the cooter was gonna fall into your lap  |
Shadius, I completely agree with you on every point.. And I'd like to add that the song is much more complex melodicly than anything on lateralus.. the addition of an extra guitar, and the melodies being played by Danny, really adds several layers to the song
|
someone find me a place to buy tickets to that Philly show. I might need to laminate my under garments for such a show
/was SCREWED out of last TOoL tour |
Okay, it grew on me, damn it. I must go to the Dallas show.

Is that confirmed? Their site isn;'t working for me... So, do you think these are real? If it is, I'm going to see them on the 5th. |
Dangit, I'm looking at Ticketmaster for the Kansas City showings...and they're not coming up.
I want to catch this show before they go to Europe....dangit. |
Give it time guys. Hammersmith shows (UK) were announced a week before the tickets appeared (and they STILL havent been put up on the Tool tour list)
|
kk, I have to find out when they're exactly going on sale, I HAVE to see them...it's been 4 years!
|
im gonna see this fukkers twice. Its going down
|
Well, the dates are now up at toolband.com and I believe I read somewhere that most if not all tickets to these shows go on sale on Saturday April 22.

Should I make the 4 hour trip from Houston and spend the $120 (because I know my g/f will want to see the show)...OR wait till the official US tour starts..? Like it's been said, these shows will be pretty "sober" and not too many new sets are going to be played. At least with a full blown tour the sets will be amazing, and new songs galore.. Hmm.. I got f u c ked outed over the last tour, though.. I'm torn.. |
I'd see them as many times as I can. Might go down to Chicago or over to Minneapolis.
