Jacaranda 06-05-2005 08:14 PM

I see it too...

So, what does everyone think of the new Live Aid?

robo2448 06-05-2005 08:19 PM

Keith Moon is the man. And CSN is awesome.

It kind of sucks. All the good bands are split up. There are a lot of good bands, but a lot of bad ones too. It's good but not as good as the old one.

I think it looks really sucky.

PinkFreud 06-06-2005 11:16 AM

you mean live 8? haha. it looks like london is getting the better show.

journey, the allman brothers, buddy guy, blue oyster cult, grand funk railroad and others in july.

sonicst0rm 06-06-2005 11:26 AM

yup ive noticed it too

RockAndRoll 06-06-2005 01:40 PM

going to a festival this summer, maybe see allmans too.

Badmoon 06-06-2005 02:15 PM

Let it Bleed is a very good album. It actually made me find an interest in the Stones again. I particularly like how they played around with Country.

Illmatic 06-06-2005 02:22 PM

I like Let It Bleed a lot.

Gimme Shelter is one of my favorite songs ever and Midnight Rambler and You Can't Always Get What You Want (imo, better than Hey Jude, which I think was the song it was most compared to) are great songs too. There are some really underrated Stones songs (like Monkey Man, Let It Bleed, and Country Honk) on there too.

I'll beong going top the same festival and the Allmans at the same venue. ;)

Let it Bleed is amazing.

/listening to Gimmie Shelter

jpj 06-06-2005 02:24 PM

The only Stones album I've heard all the way through is Their Satanic Majesties Request, and I love it. Some great psychedelic rock right there. Let it Bleed, Exile on Main St., and Get Yer Ya-Ya's Out are all on my wanted list.

Broken Arrow 06-06-2005 02:26 PM

When you think about it the Stones have soo many classic albums.

Yea, it's a great album.

Whenever I hear "Gimme Shelter" I think of that one cocaine scene on Goodfellas. It fits nicely.

Illmatic 06-06-2005 02:29 PM

I'm not a very big fan of Their Satanic Majesties Request, although it had its moments.

Their classic albums are:
Beggars Banquet
Let It Bleed
Sticky Fingers
Exile on Main St.
Get Yer Ya-Yas Out
Whenever I hear "Gimme Shelter" I think of that one cocaine scene on Goodfellas. It fits nicely.
The one where Ray Liotta and Lorraine Brocco are flushing all the coke down the toilet when the feds bust in? I haven't seen Goodfellas in a long time.

Just download Let it Bleed from the YSI thread. I'll post Exile for you too. Get Yer Ya-Ya's Out is on my wanted list as well.
Badmoon, I'd like to thank you, as I had kind of stopped listening to Let it Bleed and have rediscovered it . I thought you might like Country Honk. I listened to it all day today and can't get Gimme Shelter out of my head, all the songs are great. Sticky Fingers still pwns it, but Let It Bleed is still fantastic.
np- Let It Bleed- the song.

Thanks a lot for it :)

How do you like, Born on the Wrong Planet and Nashville Skyline?

robo2448 06-06-2005 02:39 PM

I haven't downloaded Born on the Wrong Planet yet, I had a 7 page essay that I had to concentrate on writing last night :upset:Will do now.
Nashville Skyline was great, I listened to it once early last night, it was surprisingly short, but great. Lay, Lady, Lay is great. I would listen to it now if I wasn't currently obsessed with Let It Bleed.

np- Midnight Rambler- Jagger was pretty good at harmonica.

jpj 06-06-2005 02:42 PM

Born on the Wrong Planet is awesome. The s/t song, Texas, Lester Had a Coconut, and Land's End are my favorite songs off it. Nashville Skyline, however, I don't really care for.

I just uploaded Let it Bleed, but I can't listen to it right now because I'm listening to MMW-It's a Jungle in Here. My music folder has gone from 5.86 GB to 6.66 GB in a matter of days from these YSI threads.

Woodstock 06-06-2005 02:50 PM

I've been downloading a lot of Jazz. I just downloaded WinRar and Mingus-Ah Um.

Other than "Born on the Wrong Planet" and "Lester Had a Coconut", the songs you named are just okay to me.

"Black Clouds"
"Born on the Wrong Planet"
"The Remington Ride"
"Resume Man"
"Johnny Cash"
"Elvis' Wild Ride"
"Lester Had a Coconut"
"Jellyfish"

^ My favorite :)

Well, you're more of a blue grass man than me, so that's why I left out Black Clouds, The Remington Side, and Resume Man (I still really like these). I should've included Jellyfish and Elvis' Wild Ride, though.
I've been downloading a lot of Jazz. I just downloaded WinRar and Mingus-Ah Um.
Yeah, I downloaded John Coltrane-A Love Supreme and some Miles Davis.

EDIT-and I see my Ravi Shankar request got answered.

I like the new YSI thread in other music, I'm gonna request some CR albums there because its so much cooler than our YSI thread

robo2448 06-06-2005 03:19 PM

I downloaded the Ravi Shankur- haven't listened to it though.

Yeah, the Other one has less Metal, more variety and less rules. I definitely prefer it :)

Still going to meet Calexico? If so, I got a question or two for you to ask them.

1.) How did they manage to put out an album with seventeen tracks, have thirteen of them be useless filler, and lack even one good song?

ATM 06-06-2005 04:13 PM

Which album?

I think I may get to see them.

Badmoon 06-06-2005 04:14 PM

The Black Light, terrible album. Convict Pool EP puts it to shame.

ATM 06-06-2005 04:16 PM

Haha, maybe I'll just call you and let you ask them.

I don't want to be rude.

No way. :p

I just started to listen to A Feast of Wire, and it's sounding really good.

Morrisey uploaded The Black Light and Feast of a Wire in the Other YSI thread. You guys should upload those.

ATM 06-06-2005 04:19 PM

I don't want them to get rowdy and tear my grandparents house apart.

Badmoon 06-06-2005 04:19 PM
I'm glad I didn't download that.
It reminds me off something Dr. John would put out, but much much worse and pointless.

Broken Arrow 06-06-2005 04:21 PM

Can you describe their sound? Maybe that will help me download.

Badmoon 06-06-2005 04:24 PM
Can you describe their sound? Maybe that will help me download.
Calexico are Country Rock, but definitely not like how you would think. They play Country as in Tex-Mex, Mariachi as well as the American traditional Country. They also fool around with European-esque Gypsy/Carnival music.

Broken Arrow 06-06-2005 04:29 PM

oh, I wont check them out then.

Badmoon 06-06-2005 04:32 PM

Well, then you will be missing out on one of the greatest albums mankind has ever heard.

But I'm sure you'll be satisfied with your Nick Drake and Neil Young, queer. ;)
