Immediately. |
yes sir.
...anyone wanna second this? i've spent a lot of money lately |
I'm pretty sure this whole thread loves it.
|
haha alright
|
yes sir.
...anyone wanna second this? i've spent a lot of money lately
Definitely seconded. It's my favourite DVD EVER.:smash: |
David Gilmour says something on there about drugs too, it's pretty funny. Something like "Pink Floyd isn't drug inspired music...you can trust us" or something like that and then he just looks at the camera with this hilarious akward look on his face.
Haha that's my favorite non-music part of the video. |
deal sealed
|
I should get round to buying it as well. Looks better than pulse anyway.
|
It's different than Pulse. It's hard to say which is better, because they're completely different films.
Pulse is a straightforward concert video, and nothing else. It's a very good concert, and they have a good setlist, but there's the small problem of no Roger. That's really the only downside to it. LaP is a concert video, but there's more to it. There is a lot of time during the film where the music is playing, but you're looking at a landscape, or ruins, or something other than the band playing. There are also breaks and interviews in between songs. It's really a toss up for me. I like the setlist in Pulse better, but LaP is the entire band, in 1972, just as they were hitting their peak. Anyways, I've just finished listening to The Final Cut again. That album is definitely growing on me. |
I'd prefer LaP in terms of interviews and things obviously - Roger's oyster quip is sheer class. But PULSE is still an unreal concert.

To me most of it sounds like all the slow songs of The Wall put together.
As for Pulse I don't think much of the setlist but that's mainly because i'm not a fan of post-waters stuff, which it has a lot of. |
I love The Division Bell. AMLOR is nothing special but I like it more than everyone else seems to
|

Not for me, man, LaP>>>>>>Pulse |

I guess from what Ive heard of the Division Bell it could grow on me, but Id rather get more albums with Waters first. |
then i shall purchase both pulse and LaP :]
|
:thumb: Pink Floyd is a great live band with all the cool lasers and screens and stuff.
|
yea i hope to ceck out the floyd laser show next year
|
I just picked up Relics. The only Syd stuff I've heard before this is Piper and Jugband Blues...
Good stuff, it is... |
That reminds me, Id like PATGOD as well. So many choices.
|
I looooooove pre-PatGoD Floyd.
|

I really can't think of a song I dis-like on the album. "Get Your Filthy Hands Off My Desert" and "The Gunner's Dream" are probably my least favorites. I thouroughly enjoy everything else though. Especially "Your Possible Pasts" and "Not Now John". And I think a big reason I like Pulse so much is because I'm a big David Gilmour fan. So watching a concert featuring him instead of Roger is nice. |
Late:
I think if LSD when I think of Grateful Dead. Pink Floyd is more of a marijuana band in my eyes. :p |
I'm listening to Dogs right now. Hoorah.

Interesting that you note Your Possible Pasts as a favourite. I like it now, but it really had to grow on me first. The solo is great :) Good to hear you're getting into it :chug: If anyone's interested in the album, you should check out my review for it, which I insist on whoring at every possible chance  http://sputnikmusic.com/review_9689 |
Your Possible Pasts really sounds like a leftover from The Wall.
|
They all do apart from Not Now John.
|
Ok, they all have war as the theme. But that song has the other part of The Wall's story as it's theme, the love part.
|
Your Possible Pasts featured in The Wall movie. "Pink" is singing it when he's in the toilet cubicle. As far as I know though, it wasn't written during the actual album.
And I think Not Now John could slip easily onto The Wall, in the "at the show" section on the second disc? |
You mean when he goes mental with the fascist thing? Lyrically I guess it would sorta fit there, musically it sounds more like Young Lust.
|
I bought Ummagumma and Animals yesterday in a "2 for $30" deal, which is sweet. I haven't listened to either album yet, however I have Ummagumma on vinyl :)
|
You should be pleasantly surprised. Both of those albums are really good.
|
I remember being obsessed with Animals for about a month after I first bought it.
|
I listened to it last night, and then I listened to a pre-Animals bootleg too. The song names are all changed up haha.
|
I'm not a huge fan of Ummagumma. The live record is pretty good but the studio record isnt that great. It was an interesting concept having each of the members write their own piece, but it really limited the final product.
|
I don't have Ummagumma... i only have Animals, DSOTM, Echoes: The Best Of Pink Floyd, Meddle, The Wall, TPATGOD, Wish You Were Here, Obscured By Clouds, The Division Bell...my favorite songs would be Learning To Fly, Speak To Me/Breath, Wish You Were Here, and Shine On You Crazy Diamond (All Parts)
|
high hopes is one of my favorite PF songs ever
|
Ineed.
And I'm gonna have to agree about Ummagumma. I love the live section of the album, but the studio section leaves some to be desired. |
I have to change several past statements. I've said that I really don't like AMLOR. Well, I'm really starting to like it nowadays.
And yes, High Hopes is one of my favorites. |
i heard on the radio a little while ago pink floyd was offered 200 million to go on tour
