 Hey. I listen to rap. No dissing... cause I can run circles around you of how rap and hip hop is music.

Besides, being a lover of the low end and rhythm.. how can you not dig the beats?!?!

LR
Nono the beats wtfpwn. I love it when people drive down the street with the bass all the way up. However, I dislike this:

"Yeah n***** let's pimp the bitches and the hoes. I'ma bust a cap in yo ***. Let's smoke a joint and get wasted, yoyo n*****. *insert random ghetto words*"

I cannot stand rap like that. ^ At all. It makes me sick.

I don't mind most rap, but the kind of rap I mentioned is what I hear too much here.

Samadhi 08-14-2004 08:40 PM

Has anyone here heard the new cure cd? It is amazing I actually am thinking of doing a review I love it.

Foxfire 08-14-2004 08:46 PM

I don't hate rap or hip-hop, but I don't prefer it over other types of music, I suppose.

Of course, I'm considering heavy-ghetto rap as a different genre...

Bass+Fingers+Amp=Groove 08-14-2004 08:56 PM

I think the thing is, if you dont like rap/hiphop, dont listen to it. works for me ans emo.

There are so many talented rappers out there that don't talk about that ****.

And if I may be so inclined... you hear those innuendos in all types of music. Even opera. It's just more harshly worded in rap.

Bass+Fingers+Amp=Groove 08-14-2004 09:20 PM

Get some, J5, Jlive, cannibal ox, Questlove, the roots, quasimoto, roots minurva, etc. etc. for some good hiphop.

You know... that is a really good song though, even though I am not religious/have no religion.

He's got a **** good point too:

We rappers are role models we rap we don't think
I ain't here to argue about his facial features
Or here to convert atheists into believers
I'm just trying to say the way school need teachers
The way Kathie Lee needed Regis that's the way yall need Jesus
So here go my single dog radio needs this
They say you can rap about anything except for Jesus
That means guns, sex, lies, video tapes
But if I talk about God my record won't get played Huh?
Well let this take away from my spins
Which will probably take away from my ends
Then I hope this take away from my sins
And bring the day that I'm dreaming about
Next time I'm in the club everybody screaming out

Oh, and if you want to hear the absolute MASTER at Beatboxing.. check out Rahzel! God I love that boy.

LR

casbah rocker 08-14-2004 09:27 PM

Yeah, rap definetly has some good beats, dance music too at least from the few songs I've heard. I don't have to worry about rap music too much where I am, it's more fake punks that are in fashion at my school (it's also somehow become cool to look like a stoner....). I try to give emo music a chance (I have a used cd thats pretty good) but not for me, and I avoid it.

bassopotomous 08-14-2004 09:29 PM

The new Wyclef Jean is kinda cool, I dled it.

Festibal Festival is pretty cool, those carribean sounds are so awesome.

Duncster 08-14-2004 09:31 PM

yeah. i love that song, despite the title it really has a more broad message.
i hate when people bash the genre instead of the individuals.

I'm a lumberjack, and I'm okay.
I sleep all night and I work all day.

MOUNTIES:
He's a lumberjack, and he's okay.
He sleeps all night and he works all day.

I cut down trees. I eat my lunch.
I go to the lavatory.
On Wednesdays I go shoppin'
And have buttered scones for tea.

MOUNTIES:
He cuts down trees. He eats his lunch.
He goes to the lavatory.
On Wednesdays he goes shoppin'
And has buttered scones for tea.
He's a lumberjack, and he's okay.
He sleeps all night and he works all day.

I cut down trees. I skip and jump.
I like to press wild flowers.
I put on women's clothing
And hang around in bars.

MOUNTIES:
He cuts down trees. He skips and jumps.
He likes to press wild flowers.
He puts on women's clothing
And hangs around in bars?!
He's a lumberjack, and he's okay.
He sleeps all night and he works all day.

I cut down trees. I wear high heels,
Suspendies, and a bra.
I wish I'd been a girlie,
Just like my dear Papa.

MOUNTIES:
He cuts down trees. He wears high heels,
Suspendies, and a bra?!
[talking]
What's this? Wants to be a girlie?! Oh, My!
And I thought you were so rugged! Poofter!
[singing]
He's a lumberjack, and he's okay.
He sleeps all night and he works all day.
He's a lumberjack, and he's okaaaaay.
He sleeps all night and he works all day.

 :naughty: :D
