behind enemy lines, set to explode, varukers
Set To Explode are not crust at all.

Threadstarter should listen to Nausea.

ibanezman575 06-15-2006 08:40 PM

set to explode are a good band that have elements of crust

Iron Bug 06-15-2006 08:41 PM

If you're talking about the DC Hardcore band, I don't aggree with you. If not, my bad.

ibanezman575 06-15-2006 08:52 PM

/listens again

ok you're right
i guess my first impression of them was a little different

Iron Bug 06-15-2006 09:00 PM

You're most definetly right about them being a good band though.

Brain Toad 06-15-2006 09:07 PM

A question for you Grind/Crust dudes.

It's easier to have discussion of Grind and Crust in one thread, this one seems the most popular. As you know, J has his crust band list. Right now the list is just linked from this post.

I want your opinions, especially J's and Justin's, since these are his threads.

A) we keep them seperate with the crust list linking from here
B) We merge them, moving all the band lists to the first post, maybe add some more education.
C) Make this thread only for Grind and J's only for Crust.

Feel The Darkness 06-15-2006 09:16 PM

I say we just transfer the crust band list to this thread and continue it from there as discussion in my thread ended long ago.

ibanezman575 06-15-2006 09:24 PM

i know man, i've seen them live

thetrickedoutfernandez 06-15-2006 09:59 PM

so ive listened to grindcore bands and played against on in battle of the bands(we beat them for obvious reasons) now im just curious for somebody to actually explain the music to me i read the definition and it didnt help me at all. my band is heavily old metallica influenced old metal mixed with some new stuff like the offspring and rhcp. but i read the whole mathcore thing and more complex in musical writings? all it sounds like is noise to me. Tuned down guitars with no real talent and 3 minute double bass beat in every song with some loser holding a microphone making noise in it. More complex in musical writings is only true if by musical writings you mean sexual preference. so ive listened to grindcore bands and played against on in battle of the bands(we beat them for obvious reasons) now im just curious for somebody to actually explain the music to me i read the definition and it didnt help me at all. my band is heavily old metallica influenced old metal mixed with some new stuff like the offspring and rhcp. but i read the whole mathcore thing and more complex in musical writings? all it sounds like is noise to me.
Yes, I did! Do you have it? I was so pissed; I left it on top of our car when we left.

Oh, and last night, Relapse played their first show, a surprise set with Iskra, Resistant Culture, and Warfair?.

And Iskra had funny Canadian accents and said "Eh." But were amazing, even if they get lost.
Yeah man, i have your sweater. We found it and i saw it was a dystopia sweater and was SOOOO ****in stoaked. then it clicked that it was probally yours. Ill give it back. I might be commin down to sacto on wednesday or somthing so ill bring it along.

Why the hell did the guy above me type everything twice? Why the hell did the guy above me type everything twice?

Good idea.

whiteminority 06-16-2006 08:18 PM

Not grind or crust but I know you guys will appreciate this most likely, this awesome band from Knoxville called Generation of Vipers, really drone type stuff. If you like Isis/Neurosis bands you will probaly dig this. http://www.myspace.com/generationofvipers

Times Ten 06-16-2006 10:48 PM
I need more epic crust.
Schifosi or Requiem. Requiem uses a freaking violin. How can it get more epic than that?

AIRIC 06-16-2006 11:37 PM

Garmonbozia use somethign like that but I haven't really listened to them yet.

clustifux 06-17-2006 12:43 AM

Requiem rules.

whiteminority 06-17-2006 08:56 AM

Justin go check the link I made now. http://www.myspace.com/generationofvipers

RetiredAt21 06-17-2006 09:16 AM

Alrighty.

Subvert_bassist 06-17-2006 02:39 PM

Requiem's new stuff is amazing, more melodic. And their violinist toured with them this time. We talked to Brian for a long time; next time Requiem comes through, and when we go through NC, we're staying with each other.

And no dude, I've never been to a WCWW show in my life.

Theramed 06-18-2006 05:23 AM

And Artimus Pyle, or Ekkaia, or Blacken the Skies, or Takaru, or Zann, or the Makai, or Grief.

God, I love sludge.

RetiredAt21 06-18-2006 01:22 PM

Sludge is pretty sweet. Could someone send me some Blacken The Skies?

Times Ten 06-18-2006 01:25 PM

Takaru is the best band ever. I don't call them sludge, though.

clustifux 06-18-2006 01:56 PM

Just thought you guys might be interested in these, if even slightly. Pics of us from Monday's show with Destroyer Destroyer and Me And Him Call It Us:

http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f19/OhMonsiuer/dd1.jpg

I like this one: sing along on the right, and ghost vocalist in the center:

Ill ****in' picture:
http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f19/OhMonsiuer/d4.jpg

The only reason I put this one is because I like the spirit fingers. We have fun metal breakdowns in the middle of crust songs:

I'm hella rockin' brown shorts:

AIRIC 06-21-2006 09:16 PM

Nice. I might go see Destroyer Destroyer and T#12.
