Isnt it from The Good, the Bad and the Ugly ?

Photophobic 04-24-2004 01:50 PM

^^maybe because they thought it sounded cool?

btoto 04-24-2004 01:50 PM
^^maybe because they thought it sounded cool?
True, but I was wondering if there was any specific reason/history

Photophobic 04-24-2004 01:53 PM

That deserves more beer!
:chug:

sensei 04-24-2004 01:54 PM

what do you like better

unforgiven or unforgivenII

(IMO unforgiven is better)

Photophobic 04-24-2004 01:55 PM
True, but I was wondering if there was any specific reason/history
I dunno. That's why they used Blood and Seaman for the load covers. They looked through an artbook and thought it looked cool.

I love the unforgivens equaly, for different reasons.

dblstepinit 04-24-2004 01:57 PM

Hey everyone,I'm kinda new so flame away, let me say, I like this site alot.!!.
This is the longest thread I have replied to.I cant say I read the whole thread,,but quite a bit.I noticed alot of people havent even heard some of the Earlier Metallica,if you like them now, check some older stuff. Those guys came out swinging, and will go down that way..They used to be my Fav band through school,,real 80's and 90's metal. You want to hear Lars play some real kicka$$ drums.?get the older stuff,And justice for all is IMO the hardest fastest album they did.Kill em All was smokin!!.Master of puppets another smokin album. And who can forget Ride the Lightning??
Cry out!!I'm trapped under Ice.For whom the bell tolls is one kick riff..Fade to black was always the favorite ballad from them,or Sanitarium.

R.I.P. Cliff Burton,,you Rock,and always will,imo.

If you want to dig deaper in the metal Archives,,check out some Exodus..Kirk Hammett Started those dudes too..cmon,,,Everybody do the toxic waltz..Slam your partner against the wall.!!THATS METAL!!Exodus is some real old school metal, waaaaaaaaaaaaay back..Pick up some of the First Megadeth, and some of the first Metallica, hear how 2 bands split, and made the same songs real kicka$$.

fav lyric,,hmmmmm...ok ...and justice for all. hits home.."Dyers eve" in full.!!real slam it in your face tune.not really digging the new stuff, but mabey i'm just old........I do like how they have tried alot of different things along the way.Much Respect to em'.

Photophobic 04-24-2004 02:02 PM
For who the bell tolls is one kick riff
I think what you meant to say was For Whom the Bell Tolls is one kick-*** riff after another kick-*** riff after another kick-*** riff....
not really digging the new stuff, but mabey i'm just old........I do like how they have tried alot of different things along the way.Much Respect to em'.
Ok, now I've seen everything. Someone said they didn't like the new stuff, WITHOUT flaming the band into the ground!

Burdcheese 04-24-2004 02:27 PM
Ok, now I've seen everything. Someone said they didn't like the new stuff, WITHOUT flaming the band into the ground!
I think in the spirit of the day, that deserves more beer :chug:
what do you like better

I prefer The Unforgiven myself.

Photophobic 04-24-2004 02:30 PM

still, I like Unforgiven II as it was the first song i heard which was a sequal.
that too deserves beer :chug:

Burdcheese 04-24-2004 02:32 PM

I can't think of (m)any others...

Photophobic 04-24-2004 02:34 PM

no, neither could I. Except for Iron Maiden. Thy had the Charlotte saga, and the Murders in the Rue Morge saga as well as others.

dblstepinit 04-24-2004 02:36 PM

ok,fixed the spelling, and yeah..Ride the Lightning is in full a kick a$$ album.
:chug: thnx.

Hard_Rocker 04-24-2004 02:40 PM

Could anyone recomend band like metallica that are heavy and have a somewhat similar sound?
No one say iron maiden because they sound nothing like metallica. Metallica is way heavier and James' voice is 10000000000 times cooler.

Armor O'Malley 04-24-2004 02:43 PM

Xentrix

Testament ( heavier and faster mostly ), Megadeth, anthrax, Slayer, Exodus.

hmm maybeee try some Pantera - not really the same but very cool none hte less.

*owns all pantera albums*

Photophobic 04-24-2004 03:07 PM

No one's voice is that much cool than Bruce's!
And they're not so much heavier, as they play totaly different styles of music

Try Misfits. They sound nothing like Metallica, but after I heard some covers from Garage Inc. I got some mp3s and you may like 'em, I did. And so did James and Lars, obviously.

Squirrel 04-24-2004 03:24 PM

Kirk and cliff liked the Misfits a lot more than James and Lars.

Photophobic 04-24-2004 03:29 PM

Really? I knew someone would do that to me. Ok, i just assumed that because they are the most prominent and driving members of the band (and Cliff was dead)that the songs Garage Inc. would be their choices. But still, check out Misfits.

Hard_Rocker 04-24-2004 03:45 PM

these are great thanks. Sorry Photophobic if u like Iron Maiden but they just dont do it for me. And people always mention IM as a related artist to metallica.

Burdcheese 04-24-2004 03:47 PM

I'd agree, they're pretty Incomparable - completely different sounds.

Photophobic 04-24-2004 03:49 PM

Yeah, but I guess it's more because of the status and number of albums. There are also other similarities, but I can't be bothered with little details like that.

As a suggestion though, I would go though your favourite songs on Garage Inc. and get a few songs by those artists.

Hitroshimite 04-24-2004 03:51 PM

If I'm not mistaken, Cliff had a tattoo of the Misfits skull (the fiend, I think it's called) on his right shoulder.

If I'm not mistaken, Megadeth did the sequal song thing to. They had Hanger 18 and Return to Hanger.

Photophobic 04-24-2004 03:52 PM

^^Neither would surprise me. I really ought to start listening to Megadeth.

Burdcheese 04-24-2004 04:08 PM

They're pretty good and (unsurprisingly) similar to Metallica. I still prefer the Met boys though, particularly over Mustaine's voice.
