i agree Set the world afire is the best song on the album did you know that it was going to be called megadeth?
Makes sense, what with the song being about a nuclear holocaust. |
That's for sure,
He's probbably my favourite metal songwriter. |
Megadeth is decent IMO...
Nothing standoutish, but nothing totally crappy either. |
i have to say I love 'In my darkest hour', I think mustiane totally opens himself up and we get a really good look about whats going threw his head and what makes dave tick.
I love that song for the lyrics...and the guitar is ok too... |
Inspired by the death of Cliff Burton (R.I.P) that song.
|
I love that song but i dont understand the lyrics. Is Dave basically bitchin about Cliff Burton or is it actually a real tribute to him?
|
I thought he had broken up with his girl or something like that...its about cliff?????
|
dw, I just found out, it's about how Dave and Cliff were really good friends and how Cliff wasnt there for Dave when he got kicked out aparently.

Did you ever think I get lonely Did you ever think that I needed love Did you ever think to stop thinking You’re the only one that I’m thinking of. You’ll never know how hard I tried To find my space and satisfy you too. But oh how I lived my life for you Still you’d turn away Now as I die for you My flesh still crawls as I breathe your name All these years I thought I was wrong Now I know it was you then whats all that about? |

I can see how they're about him
|
"Maria Ferraro, a true metal legend aptly named 'metal Maria' worked for Megaforce records. She called me the day that Cliff had died or somewhere close to it. No one else from Metallica or their management did. I went straight to the dope man, got some **** and starting singing and crying and writing this song. Although the lyrics have nothing to do with him, his untimely passing gave me this melody that lives in the hearts of metal heads around the world." - Dave Mustaine
They weren't about him. |
dave wrote the song, completly-which according to him was the only time he has ever done that-the day that cliff died after he found out the news. chirs poland was still in the band, and supposedly had a hand in writing it. the lyrics are about a girl that dave loved, who loved him back, but according to him they were "so toxic together" and it didn't work out. and now we have in my darkest hour.
|
Ah, my mistake
|
It is about Burton, what made you all think otherwise?
(read booklet of SFSGSW for details.) |

I'm reading the So Far, So Good...So What! booklet now and I see no reference to Cliff Burton.
|
I always thought it was directly about him.
/Runs and gets SFSGSW booklet. |
not about him.......promise
|
Meh, it was infuenced by him.
When Metallica kicked him out the band apparently (not neccessarily true) Burton kinda said "I'm sorry" and all crap, IMDH is sorta about him abandoning Mustaine, not neccessarily his death. |
No they aren't! did you not read the direct quote from Dave Mustaine. They have nothing to do with him...the music was inspired by his death, nothing else!
|
go pick up the sept (i think) 04 issue of guitar world with trey from phish on the cover. big article with dave talking about the new album and such. he explains IMDH in it. that's where i got the quote. hell, the even tabbed the intro!
|
Alright.
|
What do you mean "I aint kind"?
I'm just not your kind. One of my favourite lyrics.
I have a peace sells t-shirt with that on the back  also I knew stwa was gonna be called megadeth... maybe it would have been better that way so 'deth had a proper "anthem" with the name in (like iron maiden say... or iced earth) |
So i just played the LTD DV-8 at Grandmas, I gotta say it's pretty cool. kind of hard to sit with though....
|
I have a peace sells t-shirt with that on the back
Me too. It's my favorite shirt. |
I have a peace sells t-shirt with that on the back
Wow, I need to get myself that shirt, especially as I don't have a 'Deth shirt yet. NP:Metallica with Mustaine-The Mechanix |
I had a totally cooler Megadeth t-shirt than any o' you! Unless of course, one of you guys have it as well. Vic was on the front struggling with a bunch of demons...Anyways, I sliced it up and made a backpatch out of it. I've since retired that vest though.
As a matter of fact, here it is... the shirt. http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=33007&item=7506555155&rd=1 |
I have the Killing Is My Business shirt, with Rattlehead on the front.
It's cool. |
