I never call them Nu-metal. What do you mean by 'metal is metal'?

Aakon_Keetreh 01-04-2006 07:38 PM

i really think nu-metal is dying

Lil’ Bloodred Ridin’ Hood 01-04-2006 08:27 PM

i dont see the point in calling something nu-metal yeh its diff. from i guess the old stuff or whatever but that doesnt make it any diff. if anyone knows what i mean and what im talking about

Punctuation man, punctuation.

Drunken Viking 01-04-2006 08:33 PM

What?

Sph 01-04-2006 08:37 PM
What?
You don't know what punctuation is? Bloody hell...

Drunken Viking 01-04-2006 08:41 PM

No, I meant what was that kid saying, I couldn't tell without him using punctuation and a clear thought process.

King_Of_Terrors 01-04-2006 08:43 PM

Shes a chick, and she just types like that, get over it.
Shes a chick, and she just types like that, get over it.
Yeah, but even with correct punctuation it makes no sense.

PepsiMetal 01-04-2006 09:06 PM

(S)he means (s)he doesn't believe that slipknot are nu-metal, even though they are different from the older metal.

Hmm, ok.

Lil’ Bloodred Ridin’ Hood 01-05-2006 09:59 AM

yeah thats what im saying thanks

smart86 01-09-2006 08:32 PM

the genres of metal have become a completely opinion based matter now, especially when the topic is the "definition of nu-metal". in my opinion, slipknot is metal, but i dont think it fits into the any of the "coventional genres" (black, death, industrial, thrash ect.) but i dont agree with the industry cramming slipknot, and any other band which may have even slight rap/ hip-hop or wateva , influences and cramming it all under a label, and the claiming "it isnt real metal"

Drunken Viking 01-09-2006 09:17 PM

Who said that Slipknot isn't "real metal", they are Nu-Metal, but that is a kind of metal.

Lil’ Bloodred Ridin’ Hood 01-10-2006 11:56 AM

dont most people bash nu-metal

Sph 01-10-2006 12:03 PM

Yes they do. I still stand by my opinion that Slipknot aren't nu-metal.

blackthorne 01-10-2006 12:23 PM
dont most people bash nu-metal
i dont know what slipknot is. but my definiton of nu metal is: limp bizkit linkin park and that crap so i knock it alot with slipknot being the exception

Lil’ Bloodred Ridin’ Hood 01-10-2006 01:42 PM

same here i dont think slipknot is nu-metal at all i think there totally metal im not sure what genre to put them in tho someone help me out here

Sph 01-10-2006 01:55 PM

They're far too complex to be labelled nu-metal. I'm unsure what to call them.

I'm Charming 01-10-2006 03:24 PM

I agree. Technically thats the genre they find a home in but,

When you think of what nu metal is and who "is nu metal", slipknot isn't.

I guess just plain old metal...

I listened to Vol:3 last night... Pretty solid.

PepsiMetal 01-10-2006 03:42 PM
Yes they do. I still stand by my opinion that Slipknot aren't nu-metal.
If they were underground people would probably call them rap metal or something like that. But obviously when a band reaches success, they'll become nu-metal. That's how it is on these forums at least. lawl

On these boards, metallica has become nu-metal, and I'd be damned if St. anger sounds anything like papa roach or limp bizkit. Oh well.

It doesn't sound much better than papa roach or limp bizkit... Thats for sure.:p

BigMike_Quebec_Canada 01-10-2006 03:50 PM

Sorry to ask this...but i was wondering.

has anyone in this thread done any video's/audio's of them playing slipknot? i dont really feel like going through all 85 page's lol.

PepsiMetal 01-10-2006 04:28 PM
It doesn't sound much better than papa roach or limp bizkit... Thats for sure.:p
It does to me. If either of those bands made st. anger, I would think the album was amazing for who made it.

Them playing slipknot? What?

If you mean if anyone has any slipknot vids, then I do. You can view some online at youtube.com.

TemperamentalGoat 01-11-2006 09:34 PM

Back to the thread. I've uploaded another rendition of Slipknot's Vermillion 2. This one IMO is absolutely amazing.. blows the original out of the water in its contrast, timing, mood, balance of heavy/soft verses. Definitely the best song I've heard in 2006 so far.

Enjoy

I'm surprised this thread hasnt finished yet, usualy everyone gets shot down after the first 10 replies, but slipknot do have SOME talent, they are nu-metal though so don't think you hardcore for listening to them, ive only really heard People=****, Volume 3 The Subliminal Versus and Joeys drum solo, but ive heard alot better, i dont mind slipknot, but theres alot better. what is sad is alot of people think they are cool just because they can switch time signatures in the middle of a song, for christ sake, METALLICA do that, and they arent even heavy.... i suggest getting onto better bands such as Soilwork, Pantera or Opeth, and if you want a laugh listen to System of a Down, they have pretty good lyrics, i think they were stoned to write most of there songs though, anyway cya

There are better bands than opeth, pantera, soad, and soilwork, so what is your point?

It is all subjective, so what you think is best, might not be same for 10 millions of other people. OK?

Anyways, check out my plague vid. They took shots from resident evil, which was a pretty good movie. Second one sucked balls though. lol

Did they actually make that or was that remixed by someone else? I like original better since it has nice acoustic guitars.

Lil’ Bloodred Ridin’ Hood 01-11-2006 10:53 PM
