Rambo is all around good. I think "If Our Leaders Are Imptent Only The People Can Rise" Is by far my favorite song(as of right now)

Subvert_bassist 02-24-2006 01:39 AM

I just got back from the Ed Gein/Number 12 Looks Like You show. Whoever told me that TN12LLY was bad live was insane. They were intense, I love it. Ed Gein was awesome, too.

Subvert_bassist 02-24-2006 01:40 AM

Dude, it's all about "The War On Self-Esteem".
I'm not an expert, but I think death metal is more technical and has cleaner production whereas black metal is raw and simpler than death metal. I'm not sure about this one, but typically in death metal the vocalists growl while in black metal, they have high pitched vocals. I'm bad at explaining, it's easy to tell the difference when you listen to the two though.

Death metal is more of an expansion of thrash metal just with a bunch of brutality and a purge of rock from its bloodstream. Black metal was conglomeration of original black metal (venom, bathory, slayer, hellhammer, etc.) with a need for evil to be presented. Musically black metal is more straight forward while death metal is more complicated.
Ah, thanks.
I always thought Black Metal was less heavy and more about creating at atmosphere through the use of synth/keys. Nevertheless, Dimmu Borgir rule.
That's more of the newer poppier bands. The OG BM bands didn't use keys that much if at all, exception being Burzum.

You can create plenty of atmosphere without synth/keys. And female vocals. I personally don't like either of them, they have no place in black metal (for the most part). And Dimmu Borgir doesn't rule, listen to Craft.

SATANIC TERRORISM!

Dude it depends on how the female vocals are used.

Times Ten 02-24-2006 03:47 PM

I finally bought a Nausea album. Pretty cool.

NewKindofArmy03 02-24-2006 04:05 PM

The best RAMBO songs are Wall of Death the System, Guinea Pig Pride, and the War on Self-Esteem.

Fritz Plays Bass 02-24-2006 06:18 PM

I prefer Wall Of Death The System and If Our Leaders Are Impotent.

Nausea is real ****ing good too.

RetiredAt21 02-24-2006 10:39 PM

Nausea is amazing.

RetiredAt21 02-24-2006 10:41 PM
Dude it depends on how the female vocals are used.
As of yet, I haven't heard any female vocals in black metal that were worth mentioning.

Liebensaft 02-24-2006 10:42 PM

I downloaded R.A.M.B.O., Municipal Waste, Bones Brigade, Nausea, and eventually Napalm Death tonight. Just to name some.

Bliss.

RetiredAt21 02-24-2006 10:51 PM

Yeah man, it's hard to be dissapointed with any of those bands, they're all really good.
Anyone have any Doom albums other than War Crimes?(if their are any others)
I have several discography type albums. Doomed from the Start, Total Doom, and **** Peaceville (which I think was an actual release).

RetiredAt21 02-25-2006 09:03 AM

I can't get into the new Napalm Death album, I don't like it all that much.

Subvert_bassist 02-25-2006 10:23 AM

Napalm is coming here in March with A Perfect Murder, Undying, Devastator, and Kreator, but I'm not going. Waaay too much money. I just can't put down $25 for a show.

However, Tragedy is tomorrow. Now that will be a sick show.

RetiredAt21 02-25-2006 10:24 AM

Yeah, I'm sure Tragedy will kick major a'ss.

Times Ten 02-25-2006 12:39 PM

I have almost every Doom album.

Fritz Plays Bass 02-25-2006 03:45 PM

I have a bitch of a time finding Doom albums. Anyone have any suggestions which album to get first?

clustifux 02-25-2006 04:26 PM

I think they're all good, you can't really go wrong with Doom.

Subvert_bassist 02-26-2006 05:10 PM

My ride to Berkeley flaked, so I don't get to see Tragedy. Laaaaame.

Feel The Darkness 02-26-2006 05:57 PM

They'll go back. you have a better chance of seeing em often, then me over here in TX.

RetiredAt21 02-26-2006 07:19 PM
My ride to Berkeley flaked, so I don't get to see Tragedy. Laaaaame.
Aww dude, that sucks so bad.

whiteminority 02-27-2006 06:37 AM

what do you guys think of metal bands that adapt grindcore to their sound? primarily black metal bands that are known as war metal.

AIRIC 02-27-2006 09:32 AM

Andrew I think I'm probably going to TNTLLY show, but the only thing is that it's with Chiodos. Is it worth it?
