Is Ben Folds' solo album any good? Rockin The Suburbs was a pretty good song but nothing amazing...
the album is great but nothing like the single. it has more emotional heartfelt songs about suicide, death and lost loves, with a clever outlook on them. its depressing without being overly dramatic. really worth a listen, but first download, annie waits, zak and sara, and carrying cathy. |
After listening to "Side One Teaser", I'm so excited on Adrian Belew's album.

oh... my... god... Can we please type out a few words next time? All this internet shorthand shit can become quite tiresome. And for suggestions... considering the broadness of the Alt/Indie category it's hard to know where to start. So I'll just give you my top 15 of last year: http://www.asymm.net |
sorry about the writing I was in a rush to go and play my bass! because the neighbours get a bit stressy if i play 2 late! will you exept my appologie? < is that spelt right < is that? he he

Yeah... sure I'll accept your apology. So what music do you like so we can give constructive suggestions?

Right now, I've been digging Beck's music. The various instruments he uses create a fascinating sound, and I think he has some of the most original lyrics ever:lol:
Recommended songs: Loser Two Turntables And A Microphone Devil's Haircut Where It's At |
Two Turntables And A Microphone Where It's At
There is no song titled "Two Turntables And a Microphone," that line is in the song "Where It's At." :) |
Today I have been listening to Weezer avidly, and I must say I am quite impressed with the "blue album".

 Amazing. |
Ive been listening to a lot by a band called Amplifier recently. They're kinda like a moody, futuristic, metalish band who have just realeased their album. I would recommend giving them a listen, some songs are Motorhead, One Great Summer, Panzer and The Consultancy

Elliott Smith - XO TV On The Radio - Young Liars Exlposions In The Sky - How Strange, Innocence ... And a whole bunch of christmas music.
Both my mother and my grandma are obsessed. In the car my mom has a music station on that only plays christmas music, and my grandma always has a christmas CD playing in her room. |
Saosin-Seven Years ...
somebody help me |
Belle And Sebastian - Dear Catastrophe Waitress
|
My dad keeps playing that Christmas album with R2-D2 and C3PO in it the whole day.
|
My haul for today:
Dimmer - I Believe You Are A Star Charles Mingus - Alternate Takes John Coltrane - Coltrane And finally... Jeff Buckley's Grace. If this album sucks, then you guys will die. |

And finally... Jeff Buckley's Grace. If this album sucks, then you guys will die.
One of the albums the blokes here rave about that's actually worth raving about. I got a portable CD player for Jesusmas, which means I can now listen to music without disturbing Daddy, so I went on an indie-pop listening spree. Beulah, The Cardigans, Starlight Mints, The Unicorns, Pinback, Polyphonic Spree, Kayo Dot. Yes, Kayo Dot is indie-pop. |
Edit: Yeah ok... you guys win this round.

Here's something interesting that happened: I was flipping through the channels in the area of 65-70 that I don't usually watch, when I noticed music videos being played on channel 69. That's the "Style" channel, which is like a whole channel of models walking up and down runways. Well, at this time there was something different going on, where a music video would be playing on one side of the screen as model footage was being shown on the other side.
It was pretty interesting: they showed videos from Mogwai, Kevin Shields, and all sorts of indie-rock-pop goodness. |
Cool.
Did you dig what you saw? |
Style channel is for phags, omg.
|
Yeah, I dug some of it. I rented the "Lost in Translation" DVD, so I already saw the video for Kevin Shields' "City Girl." Scarlett Johansson = Indie girl of the decade.
|
What I've been digging lately
Three albums I didn't think I'd like this much:

Led Zeppelin - Symbols (IV)
Various Artists - We're a Happy Family: A Tribute to Ramones
Metallica - Self Titled (Black Album)
|
Haha, it's HIM.
|
...this thread sucks.
NP: David Bowie - Be My Wife |
