Hey, just a question, why does Sepultura get grouped with Death Metal more than Thrash, Beneath The Remains is one of my favorite THRASH albums, so I dont understand. I really have not heard much of the stuff after Max left, Is it more Death Metal like?

madthumbs 06-07-2004 04:05 AM

nah the early stuff is all thrash, but when they got the new singer (don't know the name) they just kinda turned to a new direction, still playing fast, just not as good.

Jondur 06-07-2004 04:39 AM

They got lumped in with death metal because they were part of that scene. They wore Obituary tshirts, recorded at Morrisound, took death metal bands on tour.

There's a fine line between thrash and death anyway and Sepultura (on BtR and Arise) were not far off from death metal

DimebagDarrell 06-07-2004 05:01 AM

hey guys went to download festival last night and Metallica were ****ing amazing. Lars was ill and couldnt play but metallica played anyway with a little help from DAVE LOMBARDO!!!, Lars drum tech and Joey Jordison!! so yeah i doubt that will ever happen again. Slayer were awesome [tho very late] and machine head got the biggest circle pit going i have ever seen

LordDargon 06-07-2004 05:19 AM

Girl-Playing-Bass: how did you get all those beers? Is the drinking age 14 in holland or some thing?

\m/ Deicide \m/
\m/ SLAYER \m/

there was some mallcore like El Nino on that bill though :-/

What Jondur said, and also becuse Bestial Devestation and their really early stuff is black/death/thrash-type necro stuffs. :D

DimebagDarrell 06-07-2004 05:24 AM

^ yeah but we intentionally turned up late to miss the early **** bands such as ill nino

No for beer it's 16. But you can get it anyway. they don't ask for ID or something. If you look 16 they will sell it. And I don't really look 14, so that wasn't a problem.
Yeah Slayer en deicide kicked ass. I I didn't like some bands , but meh COB, Shadows Fall, Slayer and Deicide alone were reason enough to go.

And as far as Sepultura goes. Thrash or Death, I don't care, they were never one of my favourite bands :\

LordDargon 06-07-2004 07:01 AM

Of the bands on the list the only ones I would be interested in looks like, uh, SLAYER and Deicide! :p

And speaking of Sepultura, Beneath The Remains is on the list of albums I am wanting to get... so far I only have Bestial Devastation and some of Arise.

ThrashMaster27 06-07-2004 09:00 AM

I'd personally get Schizophrenia ahead of Beneath The Remains, but that's just my opinion.

NP - Coroner - Die By My Hand

yeah i think too that schizophrenia is better than beneath the remains

LordDargon 06-07-2004 03:55 PM

Arg, now I am confused. My gut instinct tells me to get BtR, but my fellow thrashers tell me to get Schizo.

JMet will be along soon to sort things out :D

FatalEnergy 06-07-2004 04:09 PM

Schizo is a good album, but I still like BtR a little more

Corporal Compendia 06-07-2004 04:10 PM

Beneath The Remains is the better one... IMO.

FatalEnergy 06-07-2004 04:11 PM

Hey did you guys here that Dave Mustaine wants to get a tour or something going with Megadeth, Anthrax, Testament, and Exodus

but for some reason Exodus doesn't wan't to play with Testament, which pisses me off, because I like Exodus, but Testament is my definate favorite band

Corporal Compendia 06-07-2004 04:18 PM

Mustaine always says things like that. Never happens though.

Bartender 06-07-2004 04:23 PM

Why don't Exodus want to play with Testament?

FatalEnergy 06-07-2004 04:25 PM

I don't know why Exodus doesn't want to play with Testament, Mustaine didn't say

LordDargon 06-07-2004 04:54 PM

Well, 2 for Schizo and 2 for BtR + my gut instinct. But The Corporal is awesome and let me leech Forward to Termination the other day, and also I just downloaded the 3rd BtR track (Stronger than Hate?) and it is top-notch, so looks like I'll go with BtR

\m/ thrash on

pantallica90 06-07-2004 11:27 PM

The best song on BtR I would have to say is Slaves of Pain

Wow, that only happened like a year ago.

inner self is better IMO but slaves of pain is good to ;)

Dito that. It's an all round fun song, but still manages to thrash the **** out. Lots and lots of riffs, just like the whole album. I think BtR is the classic example of how thrash should be done, Heaps of riffs, great riffs, lots of tempo changes, all thrown together just nicely. Schizophrenia is great too, but is just not as well rounded as BtR. Although, it does have my favourite thrash song ever on it. From the past comes the storms \m/.. you really cannot get much more thrash than that!

LordDargon 06-08-2004 06:38 AM

I'm trying to think of something new to do on this thread...

NP: Vio-Lence - World in a World

WORLD! in a world!
WORLD! and you fear this fu.cking!

EDIT
Anyone heard of these bands:
Rigor Mortis (US)
Blood Feast

I guess I'll have to check them out later :p

Griffin_Page 06-08-2004 11:50 AM

Well, I no longer look like Jesus/look older than anyone. I shaved today, for a job. It's cool tho, time for a change. It might be cool looking my age again. Anyway, I picked up a used Nile CD yesterday for pretty cheap. Amongst the Catacombs or something.. its a good cd. Not thrash, but cool stuff. I'm not a big blastbeat fan tho.
