because my professors are idiots and I have 33h of class a week + 4 lab reports to write a week + 5 midterms every 3 weeks so I'd rather just do my studying and learn faster than listen to some old tenured windbag that doesn't give two shits about me or the material he is teaching.
for example: my organic chemistry professor (who has been teaching this for forever apparently) 1) didn't know that van der Waal's forces are NOT the same as London dispersion forces and 2) said that induced dipole forces are the same as London dispersion forces. Anyone who had taken 5 seconds to look up London dispersion forces would know that instantaneous dipole forces are london forces and induced dipole forces are Debye forces. If I went to all my classes and did everything I was supposed to I'd have a 70h week, which is a serious detriment to the quality of my work. still have have an A average so FUCK CLASS oh and some of my classes talk about the same stuff just at different skill levels. Distillation in physical chemistry is much more detailed than in organic so fuck organic, semiconductor doping is much more detailed in inorganic than in electronics, so fuck electronics. it's all about priorities and time management
Haha didn't need a novel man, I was just saying in general really. I've been to classes where I'd see people only show up on tests. There was one class where this guy didn't go to any of the previous lectures and showed up one day to do his presentation. I guess too it depends on the course. I know for my courses they're definitely more lecture/discussion based as opposed to text based so it's definitely beneficial going to every lecture. I guess I was basing my post on what I've witnessed. Plus I like to get the full uni experience - meet people in class and shit. |
you get a novel from gorgon whether you want one or not
|
@shortz
sounds like me. I go to classes that I like the prof for and if I like the material @juddy you know it |
All of my classes have at most 15 people in them, so you REALLY are recognized for not being there.
|
mine range from 20 to 150
|
All of my classes have at most 15 people in them, so you REALLY are recognized for not being there.
That's like my classes - it's max 30 usually. And all the profs know my name and shit, it's kind of like high school in that way. I enjoy it though. Officially done classes for the year, so stoked. Now it's just finishing up some papers/take home exam and it's summatyme *~~ Now to figure out what I want to do this summer activity-wise. |
I only have one summer class and it goes for 40 days.

Acts Of Depression would be so fucking good if it wasn't so sloppy and haphazardly written.
Same with Cries Of The Past, but The Last is a fucking jam. All about Changing Of Times-Define The Great Line, those albums are straight flossin. |

I don't like anything after The Changing of Times. sounds really flat and drive-thru records. MEH. also Dallas was p awes.
|
flat?
also, define the greatline and after is metalcore bro they got mad muddy sounding with the last two |

cheggit son |
everything is compressed and silly. sounds like a freaking (newer) Metallica CD in terms of production. plus the songs flat out suck. nothing that grabs me. no emotion, no catchy riffs, no nothing. The Changing of Times is fucking amazing. up there with The Satellite Years and Jhazmyne's Lullaby.
|
Good production isn't a bad thing dude.
Also, I honestly think Jhazmyne's Lullaby would be so much better with decent production. Satellite Years = boring son. |
"good production" is *not* the same as flat and compressed piece of shit. it was a early/mid '00s disease, unfortunately kept alive today by bands such as Meshuggah.
Jhazmyne's Lullaby has amazing production. I think you must be listening to demos or something. The Satellite Years blends pop, punk, screamo, & shoegaze perfectly without even blinking. do you dislike shoegaze? because if you have the attention span of IDK Justin or something, or just don't like shoegaze in general, I think that it's very understandable that you find The Satellite Years boring, as it is very clearly shoegaze-influenced. |
Doesn't flat like refer to pitch?
And sorry dude but the loudest thing in the mix on Jhazmyne's Lullaby is the bass drum, and the vocals don't even sound the same as the dude does live due to shitty mics. |
flat in this case refers to this:
the lower one is a track off of Metallica's Death Magnetic. |
okay cool
underoath has great production regardless of you pretending that good music doesn't sound good if it's well produced |
okay cool
underoath has great production regardless of you pretending that good music doesn't sound good if it's well produced
their songs are shit, so even the production of Dark Side of the Moon doesn't stand a chance of remedying that. furthermore, compressed tracks does not mean *good* production. you need to realise that "good" is entirely subjective, and I do not think that "lol everything at the same decibel all the way" is a particularly good idea. it sounds awful. |
