I've had some paraceetamol and 2pints of Ribena in the last hour or so. I also sneezed a bit, fired some green stuff out my nose and hey presto! I can breathe through my nose again :)

duffroxmysox 07-21-2005 10:39 AM

Never heard of ribena the great cold cure :)

Refl 07-21-2005 10:48 AM

I'm sure you can give purple pie all the love it needs.

Adam Jones is GOD 07-21-2005 10:49 AM

Your mind is elsewhere.

Adam Jones is GOD 07-21-2005 11:00 AM

Refl 07-21-2005 11:02 AM

Your solution is to kill her first.

Brew 07-21-2005 11:10 AM

Ribena = Vitamin C

Update on my gig:

Well, after some technicals problems delaying the soundcheck by over 2 hours, we got only four minutes to run one song. This meant we didn't get our sound as exactly worked out as we like, and the guitar was probably a bit too fuzzy for my liking. Oddly, the EQ on the microphone's was different going out, as to the loopback, meaning I was hearing myself back differently to how it was being played to the audience.

Due to bomb scares in London today, our bassist (Tom) was very delayed arriving. After planning to arrive at around six, he didn't get in until five minutes before we were meant to go on stage.

We opened with Catch Up. The first verse was hit with problems as we found there was no bass. We had to wait for an engineer to sort this out, until we could just play. I got the timing all wrong on the solo, as usual.

People were calling out for Little Brother Song, so I announced the next song as ICFFYFTYFC and played a nice, quick version. Tom did his bass solo very nicely. Due to the short soundcheck, I hadn't got used to the way the drums sounded yet, so picking out the snare was a strain, leading to some interesting timings throughout the gig. The song went down well, though.

We moved on to a new song: Purgatory's Angel. This was generally cheered, although I'm not sure how much the crowd understood the jazz interlude/metal outro. Well, we kicked butt with the song either way, so who cares?

At this point, we swapped bassists over, and Gemma took over for a song: a cover of Blink 182's Easy Target. This may have been the highlight of the show, as the timing was nice and tight.

The final song finally bowed to the chants which were getting loud by now, and we played Little Brother Song. This was another highlight for me. I'm not sure of how in I was in: making out the symbol hits and the snare hits was hard in the environment, and I mostly listened to Tom for cues as to where I was in the song.

The solo section was very good, Tom was brilliant in his bass solo. Even now, however, I have no idea how we all come back into the chorus seemingly spontaneously: I couldn't hear Chris's fill to return us to the chorus.

Overall, it was a very good night. We stole the show, in my opinion, and got excellent feedback from everyone. The headliners didn't get nearly as much support and I was very pleased.
sounds like a hot gig.

Yeah. The best bit was when I went:

"Say heeey-yo!"

I expected to get back a:

hey-yo!

Instead I got

Heeeeeeey-yo!!!.

That was very cool.

Hearing people call for a song I wrote was amazing. I loved that.

The outro to LBS (which I closed with) is just me yelling "Hate you really!" over and over again...it was so funny...I was pointing at people in the crowd as I did that...then Chris threw his drumsticks at me, and the organiser motioned to get off the stage, so I wrapped it up.

I'm still hyper from it.

I was a minor celebrity...I handed out flyers, which people asked me to sign...I was even asked to sign arms, and one guys arse...it was hairy and had spots on it.

Accentopus 07-22-2005 03:59 AM
