The problem with the system is that people abuse it. That's basically the only problem, if people had treated it as intended then you would be able to distinguish all of the good posters.

Or could it be that the majority of MX are good posters? There are exceptions of course, a few people that have stars seriously shouldn't have them.

You can get stars from being +repped by only 3 of the right people. Adversly, you can also be negged into oblivion for no good reason. I don't think it's to big of a deal, your posts will always say more about you than some stars next to your name will.
