Yea, that live version alone officially makes Joe Walsh one of the greatest guitarists ever. I'm sure they'll play it too, or riots will surely break out.

Joe Walsh on Rides Again > all

Badmoon 06-01-2005 07:11 PM
I thought Badmoon was joking. Not sure now though.
They'll play them.

However, when I saw Robert Plant openning for The Who many were very mad that he didn't play "Stairway to Heaven".

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 06-01-2005 07:12 PM

If that was a bet you'd lose. I hate them even though I'm watching it right now. I'm just hoping for something good.

Fdit: This song sucks.

TheDMV 06-01-2005 07:13 PM

I don't really know anything by Walsh outside of his Eagles work and Life's Been Good.

Yeah that solo is so awesome.

God you guys suck at jokes.

robo2448 06-01-2005 07:18 PM

I got it as a joke :thumb: That is until everyone started taking it seriously and threw me off. They have some good vocal harmonies as well.

Yea, they do have some good harmonies. Their Soft-Rock/new stuff is usually bad, but their older Country-Rock stuff owns.

I wouldn't say it's going through a revival, at least not where I live anyway. However, like the threadstarter, the majority of the music I listen to just doesn't get made any more (ie, the artists are dead, band is no longer around etc). At least I don't have to worry about the bands I like turning ****e :D

BludgeonySteve 06-03-2005 09:37 AM

Yeah, Joe Walsh, thought kind of insane, is a great guitarist.

LedZeppelin173 06-03-2005 09:39 AM

agreed, i really love funk #49. really fun to play that too

PinkFreud 06-03-2005 10:17 AM

haha, did you guys see him in the crossroads dvd? he looks a little bit like a gremlin.

magicbus 06-03-2005 10:22 AM
haha, did you guys see him in the crossroads dvd? he looks a little bit like a gremlin.
Yea man, I thought he really looked like a troll on there. But Funk #49 is still a cool song.

(Cooler on Crossroads due to the bluesy intro)

Illmatic 06-03-2005 10:46 AM

I like Funk #49

One of these days I'm gonna have to pick up a copy of that, i have Eric Clapton Crossroads on Vinal record and that doesn't fit in the DVD player to well.

I was begining to show withdrawl symptoms

Are all of you out of school yet?

As soon as I get out I am going to see Bob Dylan

jpj 06-03-2005 11:18 AM

Today is my first day out.

One month and 13 days until the Allmans!

Illmatic 06-03-2005 11:21 AM

I've been out of school for almost a month...

/college boy

MalcolmYoungRock 06-03-2005 11:25 AM

I'm still in school :(

As a matter of fact. I'm posting in school right now!

magicbus 06-03-2005 11:37 AM

I've been out for exactly one week.

Badmoon 06-03-2005 11:40 AM

"Funk #49" owns. So does the James Gang for that matter. The recording, producing and tones on Rides Again may be the most clean and most satisfying I've heard.

Woodstock 06-03-2005 12:31 PM

Rides Again is one of my favorite albums.

6Stringer 06-03-2005 02:24 PM

The first James Gang songs I heard were "Walk Away" and the classic "Funk #49." Whats everyone's opinion of the Quicksilver Messenger Serivce? Great band with a very amazing and underrated guitar player.

John Cipollina is very under rated.

I'm listening to Maggot Brain right now.

I'm not out till June 22 :upset:

I'm also seeing Dylan this summer. I'm hoping some NY tour dates go up, but if not I'll just see him in Connecticut, which is just as close to me as NYC.

Silent Death 06-03-2005 03:50 PM

Hey guys I'm new here and I was told that this thread is pretty cool. So I figured I would come check it out.
Rides Again is one of my favorite albums.
Mine also

Illmatic 06-03-2005 04:00 PM

finally a noob who doesn't post total garbage...I like the prospects of this one.

JonG 06-03-2005 04:01 PM

I was the best noob.

NP : CSNY - 4 + 20

^ Great song.

Welcome. I forget how big a noob I was, which is pretty pathetic since I just joined about a month ago- i'll find the post.

Thank you,

Dose anyone else here like Styx. I just started listing to them a while ago. A little softer than most of the stuff I listen to but I'm starting to like them. Whats a good Styx album I could buy?

jpj 06-03-2005 06:09 PM

I don't really care for Styx. If I want cheesey music, I usually go for Kansas, the Kings of Cheese.

Silent Death 06-03-2005 06:13 PM

Yeah their music is cheesy but for some reason, I don't know why, from the few songs I have heard, I like them. Allthough I have only heard about 3 of their songs

robo2448 06-03-2005 06:14 PM

I find them too cheesy too. I don't care for them. There was a thread about them a while ago, you might want to search for it.

ATM 06-03-2005 06:15 PM

Styx aren't really my bag.

So I put Wooden Ships by CSNY on a mix for my girlfriend, and she LOVES it! That's very exciting for me.

jpj 06-03-2005 06:15 PM

If you find the thread, don't bump it. People don't like it when you bump old threads.

Also I downloaded The Soft Machine-Vol. 1 and 2, United States of America-s/t, and Pink Floyd-Obscured by Clouds.

^^^why the A&I YSI Thread kicks the shit out of ours
If you find the thread, don't bump it. People don't like it when you bump old threads.
Ok, I won't. I don't think i'm even going to look for the thread. I'm going to listen to some more stuff before I go buy an album. My dad likes them and the few songs he showed me just stuck in my head.

jpj 06-03-2005 06:35 PM

Everone vote for Oakley!

Broken Arrow 06-03-2005 06:54 PM

Too bad I went Bruce.
