Ehm. I wanna see Metallica cover more songs live. Astronomy is one I'd like to see. Opinions?

Ya, i wanna see Metallica cover more songs, and less other bands cover metallica songs live. Every time i hear a live metallica cover it sucks the metallica versions d*ck

Youve obviously never heard Trivium do Master of Puppets. Of course, its not as good as the original, but its amazing none the less.

Huber 08-07-2005 02:40 PM

I wanna hear the Trivium MoP cover...

and to RideTheLightning03:

Tell that to Dream Theater

i've never heard that one, and i have heard some decent ones, but usually they suck

Dream Theater butchered that CD. They made it sound lame by using Keyboards, and im sorry but Labrie just sucked at singing it.

Really? Most (including me) loved it.

Yea, I also thought it was pretty bad also. I didn't mind the keyboards, but the vocals sounded exactly opposite of hetfield's, and obviously when they put opposite vocals with their music, it will sound like shit. They played MoP slower than metallica plays live, now I dont know whether metallica plays faster live than their album, or if DT played slower. Petrucci and Portnoy were great though. Actually portnoy was better since all petrucci did was stand there and play. He has almost no stage presence that it becomes boring to watch him.

Ya, i agree about th DT covers, the vocals are the worst part of it. I'm also pretty sure Metallica plays faster live than on thier CDs. On all the live stuff i have, it clearly sounds faster

Yeah, but when playing the kind of music DT does, the precision is the stage presence, however that wasn't true with Master of Puppets.

and yeah, Portnoy was awesome.

FlyingPaul_83 08-07-2005 10:35 PM

DT had awesome stage presence at Gigantour. And their precision was dead on.

To make this metallica related: I think DT did very good playing MOP

JACKROXYOU 08-07-2005 11:04 PM

They covered the entire album live, and there's a video running around out there of them playing MoP live.

Chu 08-08-2005 01:45 AM

I also have Sanitarium Live, and I am hoping there will be an Orion (They do an extended ending on Orion, at least on the version I have (I have 2 different versions of them doing Orion too  ) and it's bloody awesome, although I do wish the recording was of better quality, and Myung could be heard more, but meh don't always get what you want.

I have found a few different versions of that gig around. The first I got was taped from the crowd, all I could hear was the crowd, but I finally found the good official version.

Have you heard when they did The Number Of The Beast?

Chu 08-08-2005 03:50 AM

I have the crowd recording of the full album (Master of Puppets).
And the professional recording of Orion..
I wouldn't mind the full recording of the album.

Nah, I'm not a big Maiden fan :p

Jev 08-08-2005 10:55 AM

Someone upload me the DT cover of Orion please? Thanks much.
