Hey Schyma do you remember the link to that book on Erowid? I searched for it and I couldn't find it.

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 05-29-2005 10:12 PM
Schyma...do you still have the link to that book that is on Erowid? I went to read it and I couldn't find it and I searched all over Erowid.
Yea, just click here.

I suggest anyone thinking of doing psychedelic drugs to read this.

Oh perfect. I searched for that forever the other night! Thanks.

edit- I'm kinda friends with a guy (massive nerd, but really nice guy) who is most likely gonna be a scientist or a doctor. I'm gonna convince him to conduct tests using psychedelics (we'll have to find enough legal ones) and I'll be his test subject.

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 05-29-2005 10:16 PM

^No problem. :)

Also anyone that doesn't know the Syd Barrett story should read this.

http://www.pinkfloydz.com/the_cracked_ballad_of_syd_.htm

It's a really good read I learned alot from it.

You got in too early :p

thickasabrick 05-29-2005 10:20 PM

I bookmarked both sites. I've got my reading cut out for me now.

(is currently reading To Kill a Mockingbird for an English assignment)

I also have to read Lunch's FA, but it's too long for me to do right now.

For GREAT trip tips (shrooms) click here.

It will answer all the questions you'll have about tripping on shrooms.

Out of curiousity, does anyone listen to Elvis Presley? I used to not like his style (a little too old-fashioned) but it's growing on me.

ATM 05-29-2005 10:53 PM

Not really my thing.

I do like Hendrix's cover of Hound Dog.

Canadian-Guy 05-29-2005 11:02 PM

Ah, continuing your tradition of hawt avatars, I see.

I sold my soul for plenty of hot women avatars.

wanton 05-29-2005 11:06 PM

I enjoy Elvis's country songs, especially "Blue Moon of Kentucky."

Must be nice.

I liked Elvis Presley better the first time when he was every major black artist in the 40's and 50's

o shi.

To me all Elvis did was show white people all that was good in the black artists at that time.

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 05-30-2005 10:08 AM

Do any of you happen to know anything about Acid Jazz?

Badmoon 05-30-2005 10:11 AM
I enjoy Elvis's country songs, especially "Blue Moon of Kentucky."
Yea, Bill Monroe's original is also good.

I liked Elvis's Gospel and Relgious-Countryish work, just as much (if not more) as his Rock stuff.
I have Farmhouse but I haven't got around to listining to it yet. :-/
Farmhouse was the first Phish album I ever bought (about a year ago). It's good, though I only like three songs off of it.

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 05-30-2005 10:19 AM

Which 3 songs? I plan to go in my room find Farmhouse, go back to my computer and play the 3 songs that you list. SO MAKE THEM GOOD!!! :p

ATM 05-30-2005 10:35 AM

I downloaded Farmhouse, and the chrous in the title track sounds EXACTLY like Bob Marley's No Woman No Cry.

Badmoon 05-30-2005 11:11 AM
Which 3 songs? I plan to go in my room find Farmhouse, go back to my computer and play the 3 songs that you list. SO MAKE THEM GOOD!!! :p
Farmhouse
Heavy Things
Dirt

And I wouldn't say the chorus to "Farmhouse" sounds like "No Woman No Cry". The tempos seem completely different, but I can see how one would think they're similar; with the background vocals and such.

I just bought...

Jerry Garcia - Reflections
Johnny Cash - American Recordings

ATM 05-30-2005 11:12 AM

Yea, it's probably just the vocals that had me thinking that.

I love that Johnny Cash album! It's the only one I have, but I listen to it all the time.

JonG 05-30-2005 11:15 AM

Most of Bob Marleys songs sound alike :O

Tom Petty, George Harrison, Neil Young and More - My Back Pages

I really liked American Recordings IV: When the Man Comes Around, and supposedly that was the worst of the series. So, I'm looking forward to this one. :)
Most of Bob Marleys songs sound alike :O
You best be jokin'.

And I love that song you posted. Does yours also include Roger McGuinn and Eric Clapton? :)

JonG 05-30-2005 11:19 AM

Well some that I've heard. I'm just not a big fan of reggae.

Yes that song does.

That's why I put more :P

Then your wrong

:(...

:)

robo2448 05-30-2005 11:22 AM

Billy Breathes was the first and only Phish album I bought. Prince Caspian is an awesome song. Maybe I'll upload it later. Free is really good too.

Badmoon 05-30-2005 11:25 AM

I've never really liked Billy Breathes. It's better than Round Room though.

robo2448 05-30-2005 11:55 AM

Here's Prince Caspian which I really like: http://s40.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=1YTKWZQCD0Y3N0CPKSSYC63L5A

The rest of the album is ok, not great. I'd give it like a 6/10 or something like that, maybe a little better.

Badmoon 05-30-2005 12:05 PM

You guys should check out the Cover Recording Contest thread. Maybe a couple of us would like to enter.

lunch998 05-30-2005 12:12 PM

Whenever we have our huge CR thread reunion somewhere, we should have a giant jam session and record it.

Badmoon 05-30-2005 12:28 PM

Are you guys out of school yet?

I'm interested in this cover contest. We should think about entering, or at least play around and try to put something together.

lunch998 05-30-2005 12:29 PM

Nah, I don't get out until June 17th. And I don't have anything to record with, so count me out.

Woodstock 05-30-2005 12:30 PM

June 9th for me.

Badmoon 05-30-2005 12:30 PM

Get Audacity (its free) and a cheap microphone.

RobNY 05-30-2005 12:47 PM

All right guys. I've got a borders gift certificate of indeterminate value. I plan to get Inner Mounting Flame.

Otherwise though, I also want to brush up on some other music. Assuming there is something left over on this gift card, that, for all I know, could have anything on it. I was thinking Black Sabbath. Which album of theirs is best (to get, first)? And between nabbing Eat a Peach or Live at Fillmore East, which should I get for CD (have both on vinyl).

This way I don't have to ask next time. :)

Oh yeah, I got an electric guitar for my birthday today. :)

Illmatic 05-30-2005 12:51 PM

What kind of guitar?

And I'd get Eat a Peach...it's better. Not by much, but better.
Are you guys out of school yet?
My last day was May 6th :D

lunch998 05-30-2005 12:52 PM
My last day was May 6th :D
Well la-di-da College-boy.

And I'd probably go with Eat a Peach first as well, even though I think I prefer At the Fillmore.
