im after a more desolate/depressive sort of black metal greg, along the lines of wither or woods of desolation (who i discovered yesterday). anything local you can recommend? i've exhausted resources for perth bands (only found a couple of black metal albums, none depressive and none better than okay)

Not sure about bands in same vein as Wither/Woods.. Struggling to think of any similiar sounds.

Maybe try Nox Inferi, Pestilential Shadows, Rift or Paroxysmal Descent for a despressive sound. Elysian Blaze, Funeral Mourning and Abyssmal Sorrow if you're after a doomier touch.

ive listened to some pestilential shadows before but i cant remember if i liked it. didn't really like elysian blaze either, but i'll check out the rest. thanks :)

yeah ive been listening to toward the depths since yesterday, it's got a great atmosphere. the vocals on some of the tracks are a little weird though, totally muffled and not in a good way, but then they sort of just break free and sound really good on other tracks.
