Get Gris-gris. It's his debut, and possibly his best.
Plus, I wouldn't know, I only have one album.
Well, Zu-Zu Man was only $2.40 on Amazon and it got 5 stars so I decided to give it a try. Which album, Animosty? EDIT: Nice, Blues for Allah is awesome. |

|

Deep End 1 and Dose. |
+ Deepest End
|
Harold and Kumar Go To White Castle is a funny *** movie.
Classic Rock relevance? None. I'm picking up the Stephen Stills - s/t as reccomended by Badmoon, I'm sure I'll like it. When I found out I could order any Cd I wanted from my local record store and have it the next day my mouth started watering, heh I could've named 20 Cds off the top of my head the store didn't have that I wanted. |
Deep End 1 and Dose.

+ Deepest End
Any specific songs I should check out to see if I like like them, and which of those albums is the bluesiest? |
They're all Blues based. You can't go wrong by picking any of the three, Blues wise.
Though, Deepest End, Deep End: Vol. 1 > Dose |
I try to learn as many Blues songs as I can. I find that most good rock bands hold their roots in blues.
|
Country/Folk/Bluegrass influenced Rock bands > Blues influenced Rock bands.
;) |

True. Everyone from Bob Dylan and Eric Clapton to AC/DC and Guns N' Roses have roots in blues. |
Country/Folk/Bluegrass influenced Rock bands > Blues influenced Rock bands.
;)
Like? Not saying your wrong just wondering because bands like Led Zepplin, Pink Floyd, Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix, and The Beatles are awsome. |
Well, it's opinion, and you seem to be doubting the Country and Folk influence on The Beatles. They have numerous amounts of Countryish songs.
New Riders of the Purple Sage Grateful Dead Widespread Panic The String Cheese Incident The Byrds The Flying Burrito Brothers Buffalo Springfield Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young Bob Dylan Moby Grape The Band etc Great, great bands. |

 Same here, dude. |
and Phish for that other list...
|
I don't know if I would call PF blues based.
Well I didn't say blues based I said blues influenced, and I've heard a couple of PF songs where you can pick out blues influences like Semus (I can usually think of more, but I can't think very well right now for .......reasons) |
I don't know if I would call PF blues based.
There are definitely blues roots in their music, although it's more defined by the incredibly large amounts of drugs they were ingesting at the time. Heh, the band was named after blues musicians, though. (Floyd Council and Pink Anderson) |
and Phish for that other list...
I just got A Live One. |
and Phish for that other list...
Break Phish down and you get Jazz. Definitely not Blues or any form of Country. |

Oh God my blood is boiling, I'll try not to rant. Amazon.com probably has the most retarded people possible writing CD reviews. This one I read a few seconds ago so I'll choose it:
He wasn't the most accomplished member of Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young--or even of Crosby, Stills &Nash, for that matter. But his songs are certainly in a league with those of the other members, and it's chiefly on his solo albums that Stills's own personality comes through. Buffalo Springfield's "For What It's Worth" belongs to Stills, which shows where his influences lie. The hits "Love the One You're With" and "Sit Yourself Down," both of which live here, show how they developed. Sensitive? Lyrical? Not exactly. Think rugged denim, an acoustic guitar, and a woman at home to sew on his appliqués and pick the seeds out of the pot.
That person must be really proud of that display of pure idiocrisy. I've read hundreds of Amazon.com reviewers should be trying to get someone to buy the Cd...they do the exact opposite from what I've read. I only go by intelligent reviews from consumers. |

Very true, I always think of them as psychadelic rock. |
Break Phish down and you get Jazz. Definitely not Blues or any form of Country.
The only Jazzy album I can think of is Hoist, the first song on that album..other then that I would say folk or bluegrass. Mike Gordon is a drummer for various bluegrass artists now. |
You mean John Fishman? And "Julius" is a Gospel/Blues song. Listen to Lawn Boy, Rift, Junta, etc. They are pretty much a Jazz band, with a few slight exceptions.
Keep in mind I'm not saying there are no Bluegrass characteristics in the band. Mike is more of a Bluegrass player than anything. :) |
