Pebster49 05-20-2008 07:27 PM

I was joking about the emo/post-hardcore thing, sorta...they do care about vocals/lyrics more than music...

Vocals are matter of opinion in the most part tho

they won a contest to open for BTA on their next tour. I really am glad they won, great band. Not deathcore though.

they are definitely pretty much deathcore... i mean... dropped to drop A tuning, with tremolo picking, death metal riffing, and breakdowns... sounds like deathcore to me. what would you consider them if they aren't deathcore?

RetiredAt21 05-21-2008 09:22 AM

Drop A? My guitar cries if I try to tune to D standard.

Pete 05-21-2008 09:47 AM

i have mine tuned to drop C now, its no problem. also, i just got this guitar;

it looks like it needs serious downtuning

RetiredAt21 05-21-2008 09:58 AM

That's a really nice lookin' guitar. How much did it cost?

that guitar is metal

RetiredAt21 05-21-2008 10:49 AM

I have an Ibanez Prestige.

very nice

i also have an Ibanez, but its pretty much a piece now...ill get a new one when i go off to college

RetiredAt21 05-21-2008 11:05 AM

I like it a lot, but tuning down is a bitch. :(

McP3000 05-21-2008 11:06 AM

i've never bothered downtuning cause i like to play a lot of non-metal songs.
(partly because theyre easier)

RetiredAt21 05-21-2008 11:13 AM

I need more than one guitar so I don't have to down tune and whatnot all the time.

2muchket! 05-21-2008 11:17 AM

Having a Whitechapel and Glass Casket binge atm.

Its what deathcore should be all about.

RetiredAt21 05-21-2008 11:18 AM

Whitechapel is the only deathcore band I've heard that actually sounds like they have REAL death metal influences.

2muchket! 05-21-2008 11:22 AM

Glass Casket, Whitechapel, Eternal Lord (I consider them deathcore) and Viatrophy are the only decent bands in the genre imo.

McP3000 05-21-2008 11:38 AM

"genre" you mean

2muchket! 05-21-2008 12:06 PM

Deathcore does exist

RetiredAt21 05-21-2008 12:49 PM

Having breakdowns and group shouts doesn't make you "core". And having Gothenburg style riffs doesn't make you death metal, either.

dinosaurxbrocore 05-21-2008 01:11 PM

And having Gothenburg style riffs doesn't mean you don't have death metal parts too.
Whitechapel is the only deathcore band I've heard that actually sounds like they have REAL death metal influences.
Glass Casket, The Red Shore, Knights Of The Abyss, Veil Of Maya, Despised Icon, etc.

the list goes on and on and on son

masscows 05-21-2008 01:24 PM

The Red Shore doesn't sound like deathcore to me, just mediocre modern death metal. Didn't listen to much from them though.

dinosaurxbrocore 05-21-2008 01:26 PM

the ep's got a lot more hardcore parts, but the full-length has a lot of hardcore parts too, it's just much stronger on the dm portion of der sound

and they're not mediocre for sounding modern, you're just a fag for equating a modern sound to mediocrity.

masscows 05-21-2008 01:30 PM

I just don't like them, thus I find them mediocre. I don't think all 'modern death metal' is mediocre since I do listen to quite a bit of it.

dinosaurxbrocore 05-21-2008 01:31 PM

i dont think theyre trying to appeal to "REAL death metal" posers though, so i can see how they wouldnt be your thing

masscows 05-21-2008 01:32 PM

Why are you slagging on me for not liking most bands in a certain scene? you're a fag dude.

RetiredAt21 05-21-2008 01:33 PM

Anyone like Crackwhore?

dinosaurxbrocore 05-21-2008 01:33 PM

no i just dont like how you always act like youre some expert and youre a pretty big noob

crackwhore's cute

masscows 05-21-2008 01:35 PM

I tend to talk pretentiously online mmmmmkay

RetiredAt21 05-21-2008 01:36 PM

Are Crackwhore deathcore?

dinosaurxbrocore 05-21-2008 01:50 PM

idk they just sound like lo-fi dm

RetiredAt21 05-21-2008 01:51 PM

Sweet guitar dude!

I have an ESP Viper tuned to drop C and it holds it really well. So does my Fender Jazz bass.

about $1,000, guitars are mad expensive in sweden, compared to the us anyway
Sweet guitar dude!

i was thinking about getting a viper, but the 400-series wouldve been all i couldve afforded. not that thats too shabby or anything, but i just really wanted the 500 series. and this cort is so metal it hurts, i just had to buy it :p

I have the Viper 100. It's just for goofing off and writing, so it doesn't have to sound too great, even though it does. It was 100 bucks used.

Anyways, I just got the new Elysia off of DISV3.0. It's aiight.
