^^is that at Sonar or Black Cat? those are pretty cool venues. Madlib's pretty awesome, I'm not gonna go to that show though

ATM 10-13-2007 04:49 PM

It's at Black Cat. Venue is kind of crap, but I can't miss Stones Throw.

Time 10-13-2007 04:55 PM

yep that show should be pretty awesome, can't say I've ever been to a hip hop concert though. Wu Tang's coming to Sonar, but it's with Three6 Mafia and Paul Wall so there's no way Im going.

ATM 10-13-2007 05:03 PM

Yea, I saw that they were coming to Baltimore. I'm without a car these days, though. I did see Wu Tang this summer and Ghostface last week :)

I want to go to that Rakim, Ghostface, and Brother Ali show at 930 club.
Yeah check out Liquid Swords if you like 36 chambers. As for myself, I don't like Only Built 4 Cuban Linx that much, but alot of people do.

Also, check out some Native Tongue stuff, like Mos Def - Black on Both Sides, Black Star, A Tribe Called Quest and Common, those are all favorites of mine. Most are pretty accesible too.
Will do. Thanks for that.

Nostalgia 10-13-2007 08:36 PM

Only women and Canadians like Butch Walker.

badtaste 10-13-2007 08:43 PM
also butch walker
I'm working on two fronts right now: punk and rap/hiphop.

Butch Walker (born Bradley Glenn Walker III on November 14, 1969) is an American recording artist, songwriter, and record producer.

Why would you not go see Wu and Three Six?

badtaste 10-13-2007 08:46 PM
make an exception :(
Name a song (or few) and I'll give it a go.

Holy crap how were they?

I would kill for awesome acts like that to come to Australia. But it will never happen :(

ATM 10-15-2007 09:17 AM

They were good except for mic troubles.

Method Man really stole the show, in my opinion.

Tyr 10-15-2007 01:06 PM

Lately, I've really come to appreciate Public Enemy's Fear of a Black Planet. Fantastic album.

lancelott 10-15-2007 03:42 PM

The new Nas song (Surviving the Times) is the ****.

Dig that album, real good. Most Public Enemy is though.

Tyr 10-16-2007 10:35 AM

Sadly, it's the only of their albums I've got.

Apocalyptic Raids 10-16-2007 10:42 AM

You need It Takes A Nation of Millions To Hold Us Back, it's better.

Tyr 10-16-2007 10:44 AM

I've heard some people say that, but I haven't had the time to listen to it yet.
The new Nas song (Surviving the Times) is the ****.
Yes I like it too. Hopefully I'll like the more album more than Hip-hop Is Dead.

sgrevs 10-17-2007 07:45 PM

I had a dream last night that I could choose between going to a Stones Throw concert or a Wu-Tang concert because they were on at the same time. I couldn't decide and I left it too late and missed both concerts :(

What would you have done?

Eliminator 10-17-2007 07:52 PM

depends on who would be playing at the stones throw concert and which members were missing at the wu tang one

ATM 10-18-2007 11:23 AM

I'm going to:

Thu Dec 6- MADLIB, PEANUT BUTTER WOLF, J.ROCC, PERCEE P, and more! $18 Adv/ $20 DOS Mainstage 8:00

:D

sgrevs 10-18-2007 09:58 PM
depends on who would be playing at the stones throw concert and which members were missing at the wu tang one
Well Wu-Tang was all 8

Stones Throw was Doom, Madlib, Percee P, and I can't remember who else.

I really can still not decide.

ATM 10-21-2007 01:13 AM

New Little Brother album is ****ing good.

Rams 10-21-2007 11:45 AM

How's it compare to their other work? I've never gotten too into them, The Listening was pretty cool but I didn't get into Minstrel Show or And Justus For All.

ATM 10-21-2007 12:48 PM

Well, only one song has a 9th Wonder beat but it's still pretty damn solid.

I was never huge on them either, but their is some creative stuff on this album.

It's worth checking out.

Pluperfect_Arson 10-23-2007 05:42 PM

Does anyone here enjoy Lil Boosie?

Or anyone from Trill Ent for that matter?

40 oz 2 freedom 10-23-2007 09:37 PM

Can't stand Boosie, Webbie is aight though

Pluperfect_Arson 10-24-2007 02:23 PM

I like Boosie a lot, and Webbie is okay. Most of Webbie's rapping sounds dumb to me, and Foxx is cool, too.

Wyko 10-25-2007 07:49 AM

Don't know if it's been posted before, but here's an awesome Funkmaster Flex best of the 90's mix, from Hot 97.

http://tinyurl.com/28wwrl for the download and:

http://wmdeez.wordpress.com/2007/07/08/we-are-not-90s-snobs/

for the tracklisting.

It's 5 hours or something, but it's worth it.

Rams 10-27-2007 01:15 AM

http://www.xxlmag.com/online/?p=15268

Because people love Wu-Tang

Apocalyptic Raids 10-27-2007 04:46 AM

Not too bad. The percussion is far too low in the mix though.

big80smullet 10-27-2007 06:28 AM

Ohman i just dug out my old A Tribe Called Quest cd and it is still awesome!

Apocalyptic Raids 10-27-2007 07:52 AM

which one?

sgrevs 10-27-2007 06:50 PM

Cool Wu song.

Listening to Percee P album, I really dig the production but his voice is kinda annoying. It's like a worse version of Biggie, which I'd forgotten since I last heard him.

ATM 10-28-2007 04:19 PM

New Smif N Wessun is actually pretty good.

Did anyone get the new Little Brother yet?

Rams 10-28-2007 05:12 PM

The new Little Brother is ok, I dunno. I've never gotten into them, but I liked this album better than their last few efforts. I dunno, their MC's are just so generic and don't have anything I find interesting in them. The new beats work well with them, much better than the 9th wonder ones.

"Stomp" by Smif-N-Wessun is really cool. The Ruckness Monstah is awesome.

ATM 10-28-2007 06:49 PM

Yea, I like LB better with out 9th Wonder. Good Clothes is such a ****ing good song.

Win A Rabbit 10-28-2007 11:39 PM

I've been really into RJD2, DJ Shadow, Dabrye, and Venetian Snares lately.

Any suggestions along those lines?
