^^is that at Sonar or Black Cat? those are pretty cool venues. Madlib's pretty awesome, I'm not gonna go to that show though
|
It's at Black Cat. Venue is kind of crap, but I can't miss Stones Throw.
|
yep that show should be pretty awesome, can't say I've ever been to a hip hop concert though. Wu Tang's coming to Sonar, but it's with Three6 Mafia and Paul Wall so there's no way Im going.
|
Yea, I saw that they were coming to Baltimore. I'm without a car these days, though. I did see Wu Tang this summer and Ghostface last week :)
I want to go to that Rakim, Ghostface, and Brother Ali show at 930 club. |
Yeah check out Liquid Swords if you like 36 chambers. As for myself, I don't like Only Built 4 Cuban Linx that much, but alot of people do.
Also, check out some Native Tongue stuff, like Mos Def - Black on Both Sides, Black Star, A Tribe Called Quest and Common, those are all favorites of mine. Most are pretty accesible too.
Will do. Thanks for that. |
Only women and Canadians like Butch Walker.
|
also butch walker
I'm working on two fronts right now: punk and rap/hiphop. Butch Walker (born Bradley Glenn Walker III on November 14, 1969) is an American recording artist, songwriter, and record producer. |
yep that show should be pretty awesome, can't say I've ever been to a hip hop concert though. Wu Tang's coming to Sonar, but it's with Three6 Mafia and Paul Wall so there's no way Im going.
Why would you not go see Wu and Three Six? |
make an exception :(
Name a song (or few) and I'll give it a go. |
I did see Wu Tang this summer and Ghostface last week :)
Holy crap how were they? I would kill for awesome acts like that to come to Australia. But it will never happen :( |
They were good except for mic troubles.
Method Man really stole the show, in my opinion. |
Lately, I've really come to appreciate Public Enemy's Fear of a Black Planet. Fantastic album.
|
The new Nas song (Surviving the Times) is the ****.
|

Dig that album, real good. Most Public Enemy is though. |
Sadly, it's the only of their albums I've got.
|
You need It Takes A Nation of Millions To Hold Us Back, it's better.
|
I've heard some people say that, but I haven't had the time to listen to it yet.
|
The new Nas song (Surviving the Times) is the ****.
Yes I like it too. Hopefully I'll like the more album more than Hip-hop Is Dead. |
I had a dream last night that I could choose between going to a Stones Throw concert or a Wu-Tang concert because they were on at the same time. I couldn't decide and I left it too late and missed both concerts :(
What would you have done? |
depends on who would be playing at the stones throw concert and which members were missing at the wu tang one
|
I'm going to:
Thu Dec 6- MADLIB, PEANUT BUTTER WOLF, J.ROCC, PERCEE P, and more! $18 Adv/ $20 DOS Mainstage 8:00 :D |
depends on who would be playing at the stones throw concert and which members were missing at the wu tang one
Well Wu-Tang was all 8 Stones Throw was Doom, Madlib, Percee P, and I can't remember who else. I really can still not decide. |
New Little Brother album is ****ing good.
|
How's it compare to their other work? I've never gotten too into them, The Listening was pretty cool but I didn't get into Minstrel Show or And Justus For All.
|
Well, only one song has a 9th Wonder beat but it's still pretty damn solid.
I was never huge on them either, but their is some creative stuff on this album. It's worth checking out. |
Does anyone here enjoy Lil Boosie?
Or anyone from Trill Ent for that matter? |
Can't stand Boosie, Webbie is aight though
|
I like Boosie a lot, and Webbie is okay. Most of Webbie's rapping sounds dumb to me, and Foxx is cool, too.
|
Don't know if it's been posted before, but here's an awesome Funkmaster Flex best of the 90's mix, from Hot 97.
http://tinyurl.com/28wwrl for the download and: http://wmdeez.wordpress.com/2007/07/08/we-are-not-90s-snobs/ for the tracklisting. It's 5 hours or something, but it's worth it. |

Because people love Wu-Tang |
Not too bad. The percussion is far too low in the mix though.
|
Ohman i just dug out my old A Tribe Called Quest cd and it is still awesome!
|
which one?
|
Cool Wu song.
Listening to Percee P album, I really dig the production but his voice is kinda annoying. It's like a worse version of Biggie, which I'd forgotten since I last heard him. |
New Smif N Wessun is actually pretty good.
Did anyone get the new Little Brother yet? |
The new Little Brother is ok, I dunno. I've never gotten into them, but I liked this album better than their last few efforts. I dunno, their MC's are just so generic and don't have anything I find interesting in them. The new beats work well with them, much better than the 9th wonder ones.
"Stomp" by Smif-N-Wessun is really cool. The Ruckness Monstah is awesome. |
Yea, I like LB better with out 9th Wonder. Good Clothes is such a ****ing good song.
|
I've been really into RJD2, DJ Shadow, Dabrye, and Venetian Snares lately.
Any suggestions along those lines? |
