If you ever need a groupie, you know which thread to find me in.

edit: This one tbh.

gaslight 12-10-2008 08:09 AM

Quality. Do church bands pay their members or is it like a community volunteer thing?

badtaste 12-10-2008 09:42 AM

Vague Iggy Pop reference.

gaslight 12-10-2008 10:03 AM

More of a direct reference I'd say.

badtaste 12-10-2008 10:04 AM

lol, true. I meant to say that I was vague on the reference.

In other news:

Generally it's just volunteering. But I have heard of those huge churches in America having a band as part of their staff. I'd love one of those gigs. How cool'd that be for a job; a constant twice a week gig to 5,000 people who you know.

I'm a better band-leader than a drummer, tbh. I just groove away and organise everyone.

big80smullet 12-10-2008 06:55 PM

The church my olds go to wants me to play guitar but id feel bad playing cause i dont believe in god and plus their songs are shitty and wouldnt challenge me at all and i couldnt play fast cause theyre all old.

Aaron 12-10-2008 07:00 PM

Our music is heaps challenging dude. It's all wierd dynamics. Actually, I'm doing a song thats in 12/8 tomorrow night. lol.

big80smullet 12-10-2008 07:04 PM

worshiping god is tech

Chu 12-10-2008 07:09 PM

I wouldn't say you have to believe in God to play in a church band.

You could always improv some shred in funny places, see if anyone notices

That's pretty much saying you have to be Satanic to play black metal, and whilst a lot of the bands claim it, few act it out, and I believe even fewer hold to their words...

big80smullet 12-10-2008 07:15 PM

no but i dont like being in church at all and playing in the band would at least double my church hours while simultaneously making me spend time with old people and play shitty old people jesus songs

Aaron 12-10-2008 08:08 PM

As soon as my electric kit is paid off I'm going to sink some dosh into a Synth Workstation I think.

Chu 12-10-2008 08:35 PM
no but i dont like being in church at all and playing in the band would at least double my church hours while simultaneously making me spend time with old people and play poopty old people jesus songs
But, you can re-arrange the music, couldn't you?

You could probably give it a little bit of a rock vibe, and no one would really care.

Aaron 12-10-2008 08:38 PM

Chu, that's what most of it's like.

Chu 12-10-2008 08:40 PM

I think he's just being negative, cause he's too lazy to actually do it.

If he did do it, it would be awesome experience.

LUKEIAMYOURFATHER 12-10-2008 08:42 PM
