I'm still waiting for Swallow The Sun to come to the US. Mffff. :smash:
That would be awesome if they could play somewhere in North America, but I don't think it's gonna happen soon. Doom metal bands just don't seem big enough to play here very often, which is really too bad cause there are a lot of really great bands that we probably won't get to see unless we go to Europe.

Shattered_Future 01-20-2007 10:02 PM

Yeah, doom in general isn't a very listener friendly genre. I think they might have enough fans in North America to warrant a US tour though...

actionfan32 01-20-2007 10:06 PM

That would be awesome if it actually happened. I heard that My Dying Bride are actually going to play in North America this year, if they stop anywhere close to me I'll definitely make an effort to go. It would be even more incredible if they got STS to open up for them, I'd pay a lot of money to see that.

Shattered_Future 01-20-2007 10:13 PM

That WOULD be awesome indeed. MDB's new album was quite good, I thought.

actionfan32 01-20-2007 10:26 PM

Agreed, it was my personal favorite album of 2006. I loved Aaron's new vocal style, and John Bennett's drumming really brought something great to the band, the drums stuck out more for me on this one than on any of their other albums. And I absolutely love Thy Raven Wings, it's become of one my favorite MDB songs.

Thasis 01-20-2007 10:36 PM

****... why won't MDB, or any doom band play in Canada. Down in British Columbia we get like nothing for the wise of metal. It's all rock and punk. It ****ing bones...

the2stranger 01-21-2007 05:32 AM

I think a lot of doom metal bands don't play live because it's hard to bring the atmopshere alive on stage.
Still I wouldnt mind, and I know quite a few doom/death bands that play exellent lives shows.

np: Teeth Of The Lions Rule The Divine - He Who Accepts All That Is Offered

Shattered_Future 01-21-2007 10:34 AM

Plus, I find it really, REALLY hard to play that slow live.

the2stranger 01-21-2007 11:20 AM

I never really had trouble with that.

Last doom gig I went to was Saturnus, Agalloch, November's Doom.
Last doom gig I went to was Saturnus, Agalloch, November's Doom.
Oh man, I'd love to see that! Sadly doom metal is pretty much non-existant here, I've never seen a doom band live yet. Touring bands don't stop by, and we don't have any local doom metal bands. I'd love to start one, but I'm the only person I know who listens to any doom metal, so it doesn't look like that's gonna happen soon.

the2stranger 01-21-2007 12:09 PM

That sucks.

I'm still thinking of doing a funeral doom project, but I doubt I will ever find anyone who can play guitar, so I guess it'll stay keyboard based.

o_O

There's absolutely massive amounts of people who play guitar. What you need to worry about is a drummer.

The fact that you play keys just took care of the most rare musician on the list.

the2stranger 01-21-2007 12:20 PM

You have a point there.
I can drum as well, ptroblemis, I need to buy a drumkit. :upset:

And You're right about the fact there are enough guitarists, but hardly any of them enjoy funeral doom. :

So what? If you get a few that are interested in Rock or Metal you can introduce them to the genre. If they like it, say hello to your new guitarist.

the2stranger 01-21-2007 12:32 PM

You have a point.
Still, somewhere I enjoy this being a one man project.

I'll see where it'll go.

Shattered_Future 01-21-2007 12:35 PM

Petey, if you write guitar lines and send them to me, I'll be glad to record them. :thumb:

I play guitar so if you send me your end of the track I can record my part over it and send you back the final copy. If your intrested my email is: dungeonmaster2847@hotmail.com

Edit: Oh, somebody else already offered. Well my offer still stands, but he said it first so :P

Shattered_Future 01-21-2007 12:50 PM

Funeral doom guitar duel, bitch. :smash:

the2stranger 01-21-2007 12:50 PM

Alright, thanks guys!

I must see if I can get this al worked out, because I'm rather busy with organzing all my stuff for Norway.
But we'll see. :D

Thasis 01-21-2007 12:50 PM

Haha, that'd be hawt, but you'd probally win. I havn't been playing guitar for to long.

Edit: I have my own project, so if I can get my bass amp back from my friends I'll see if I can get some stuff written and recorded for yah all.

the2stranger 01-21-2007 01:30 PM

Pate:

I listened to your album.
Great stuff.
Sounds good, The vocals are nice.
I love the dark blues guitar vibe that comes through ocassionaly.

The best thing is the band pic on last fm!
Keep up the good work man. :)

pate 01-21-2007 01:35 PM

Thanks a lot man! I'd say my vocals are the worst part haha

And that pic is classic
My Dying Bride U.S. tour
Shame is, Aaron said it'd be Anathema/MDB/Cradle of Filth

:(:(

ATM 01-21-2007 04:04 PM

Any fans of Witchcraft?

magicbus 01-21-2007 04:32 PM

I have one of their albums, but I haven't listened to it a whole bunch.

It's pretty cool, kinda like a Black Sabbath-y dark blues rock going on.

actionfan32 01-21-2007 04:36 PM
Shame is, Aaron said it'd be Anathema/MDB/Cradle of Filth
Really? If that ends up happening that would awesome. I can't stand Cradle of Filth whatsoever, but to see MDB and Anathema together would just be amazing! Did he say which band would be headlining? Unfortunately it would most likely be COF but I'm hoping it isn't.

ATM 01-21-2007 05:00 PM

I'm finally checking out Zebulon Pike.
I'm finally checking out Zebulon Pike.
Tell me how they are; I've heard good things but never gotten around to checking them out.

And your avatar is disturbing: I like it.

ATM 01-21-2007 05:02 PM

It's from Pan's Labryinth.

You want the link for Zebulon Pike?

edit: reading this post back, it sounds extremely nerdy

Yeah, man, that'd be awesome.

And I heard Pan's Labyrinth was bomb; [nerd] LIKE WHEN THE GIANT MEGAZORD TOOK OUT HIS DOOMCANNON AND BLEW OFF THE HEAD OF THE EVIL CENTAUR MAGICIAN ZERBULON PIKETHEAN!!!! [/nerd]

Kyle 01-21-2007 05:07 PM

I really want to see Pan's Labyrinth.

If there's a free link of some kind i'll take a look.
