that part waas written by Portnoy not?
it does rock, it is verry jibberish but it's so cool, it my favorite part of the song, the keyboard going on under that part rock so hard :D
Yep, written by Portnoy. I think more than DT's other huge epics (ACOS, 6DOIT), 8VM just seems to flow perfectly and seems more like a complete song, than several song ideas put into one. |
/is going to see Dream Theater on 12 oct.
when are they touring in new york or mass. i need to see them. the only bands ive ever seen in concert are metallica, tool, and apc (and some rapper guy who came to williams once, i forget his name). i really want to ****ing see dream theater
|
nowitzki, you seriously like 8vm better than six degres? the song drags on for pathcs of like 3-5 minutes where nothing happens. it's like drum beat+guitar riff............same thing but with crash cymbal..........
you gotta love the transition from goodnight kiss to solitary shell man, top notch! |

They should be touring North America with their Evening With... tour sometime around March/April '06, so you'll just have to wait a few months and then you will be able to see them. |

I'm sure that Mike mentioned something in the Gigantour chat about coming to North America for an Evening With... tour. Just dig around the Portnoy forum and you should be able to find something about it. Dream Theater would be stupid not to tour North America to promote Octavarium. |

Will the bastards ever come to Australia? lol, i know the answer to that one, but i can still hope. |
im sure they will tour...and go to australia. to be honest, if i'd to go for a DT gig. i'd only be there to see John Petrucci and Portnoy play...i dont really dig the music. i'd just love to see the members play. still a great band though. :thumb:

Oh, and its 24th & 25th of October for me, my tickets arrived yesterday :p |
Tomorrow = Gigantour. :D
Does anybody have any knowledge of what DT's setlist might be? |
Tomorrow = Gigantour. :D
Does anybody have any knowledge of what DT's setlist might be?
The Root of All Evil has been played at all but a couple shows. So you should defnitely expect to see that. They might play The Glass Prison, they've been playing that a lot at the more recent Gigantours. You'll also most likely see Panic Attack played. Other songs that could be played are Lie, As I Am, Just Let Me Breathe, A Fortune in Lies, Never Enough, Endless Sacrifice, Fatal Tragedy, and Home among a couple others. Also, chances are VERY high that you'll see the Pull Me Under/Metropolis mix as the encore. |
Awesome... :D
I hope they play The Glass Prison...one of the best DT songs ever. |
TGP was amazing live. Especially the jam at around 9 minutes.
So awesome. |
Their alright...pretty good drummer.
|
Portnoy is so overrated its not even funny.
|
Ordered my DT tickets today, gonna rock.
Portnoy's playing was best on SFAM. His fills where he trades from between his feet and hands sound great but he does use them like all the time. |
AHHHHH 2 days til GIGANTOUR!!!!! MY FAV 4 bands! DREAM THEATER MEGADETH NEVERMORE SYMPHONY X! anybody else coming to the show on wednesday in nj?
|
I am, where you sitting?
|
I hope DT comes here in the spring
|
Portnoy is so overrated its not even funny.
True that. He's decent...not the best, but decent. |

Do they ever do songs off Awake much at all live? I can't remember ever hearing a live version of any songs off that album, but I'm going to see them in October and would love them to play something off that album. I'd assume though that in recent years at least, James' voice wouldn't be able to handle a lot of the songs, considering he was so amazing on this disc. Hearing him live in the last few months though it sounds like he could reach most of those notes again now. |
