Has anyone seen that stiff upper lip tour dvd,ive been thinking about buying it,but i wanna know if its good or not.
Yeah I've got and used to watch it a fair bit, Donnington is better though I'd say. Family Jewels is awesome, the old stuff is by far the best

blue3 09-18-2005 10:58 PM

I have Live at Donnington. It's my only AC/DC DVD so I don't really know what's better.

Bon_Scottie 09-19-2005 06:02 AM

I'd go for Donnington, or even if you can... Let there be rock.

rippa32 09-19-2005 06:37 AM

Yes Let There Be Rock would be great. We need it on DVD.

Grutte Pier 09-19-2005 10:57 AM

Family Jewels could have used some more live stuff. We need Let there be Rock on DVD.

Bon_Scottie 09-19-2005 01:10 PM

Agreed... but still what live stuff was on Family Jewels, was awesome.

Especially Fling Thing/Rocker / Riff Raff / For those about to Rock.

Ulysses 09-20-2005 03:47 AM

Yeah Riff Raff is class, especially on "If You Want Blood.." and Family Jewels, such a powerful, driving song. I would've liked Live Wire to have been on the Family Jewels DVD because I downloaded a version of it live but it being on a DVD would obviously improve the quality greatly.

Mizuzack 09-20-2005 05:19 AM

I used to love AC/DC. A long time ago, actually a long long time ago, I used to like hip hop and rap. AC/DC was the band I listened to as I made the transition from rap to rock. Then from AC/DC I moved to Metallica which gave me the transition from rock to metal. Now I listen to all kinds of music.

But now, I really hate AC/DC. The solos are way to traditional. The bass is simplistic, the singer is terrible and most songs sound the same. They are a really great introduction band, but they get tiring after a while.

Ulysses 09-20-2005 06:19 AM

Thats quite a cynical way to look at a band you once admired. You listen to all kinds of music, like what?

Mizuzack 09-20-2005 06:36 AM
Thats quite a cynical way to look at a band you once admired. You listen to all kinds of music, like what?
Look in my profile under interests. I don't mean all kinds as in everything from blues to classical to jazz to metal.

Basically stuff from soft rock to progressive metal.

Ulysses 09-20-2005 06:40 AM

fair enough, Pink Floyd and the Beatles, nothing but class. Jazz is also awesome, Cool Jazz and jazz/rock/fusion would have to be my personal favourites.

.... :naughty: :naughty: :naughty:

lol jp, but really, it is just a smiley that is supposed to show your emotions in your post, who cares if it is overused. Personally i think they look rather funny but for arguments sake ill give you a example. In my school Led Zeppelin and AC/DC now-a-days is overused in the sense that people say they like them just to seem cool, yet it is something i deal with and will have to deal with for the rest of the time im in highschool.... and personally i dont really care if i get flamed, i use MX to pass the time when im bored anyway. Hope you see my point :thumb:

edit:actually my example was sorta irrelevant but w/e

rippa32 09-22-2005 05:28 AM

I dont care if it was irrelevant. Its a big problem, only a couple of people I kno actually like these bands (one has all of Zeppelin except Houses of the Holy and CODA on vinyl) but whenever I wear my AC/DC shirt I get shouts of "accadacca" in a really forced Aussie accent(I live in Australia). And all these people have only heard Back In Black 'cause it gets played at sports carnivals.

taitisgreat 09-22-2005 06:34 AM

AC/DC are a great band, simplness is a way to make it to the top if people like the music. i do dissagree on the fact that you said they arent good musicians as angus young is a superb guitarist. but overall they are a great band :)

rippa32 09-23-2005 12:06 AM

In a quote from a guy I can't remember, I think it mighta been Chris Cheney. "We can all play blues scales but we can't play them like Angus Young"

Ulysses 10-02-2005 11:11 PM

Thats true, people comment on the simplicity but whoever has attempted to emulate AC/DC's sound has failed, in their style they cannot be surpassed, well from what I have witnessed.

I couldn't pick 5 favourite AC/DC tracks but Riff Raff would certainly be up there if not occupying the first position.

rippa32 10-03-2005 03:45 AM

For me Riff Riff gets a comfortable second. Beating Around The Bush gets first.

Ulysses 10-03-2005 04:01 AM

I like the opening guitar riff in that song, nice track that.

rippa32 10-03-2005 04:28 AM

I like the vocals too.

lightningmetal666 10-03-2005 12:18 PM

I would say the best ac/dc lyrics would be for Touch Too Much. Too damn many inuendos.

googs 10-03-2005 07:31 PM

AC/DC is amazing but too many n00bs who don't know even whos in the band like them becuase they are"in" or were in a video game. i love all 80s and classic rock. Angus young is amazing on guitar and has a great knowledge of pentatonics and chords and is not that repetitive.
