I've seen a video of Children of Bodom, the guy that plays the keyboard was drinking from a brownbag through the whole thing, I loved it.
That would be Janne...he's fucking awesome. Was it really cheaply made, and could you tell? Lots of flashing red lights?

haha, yeah.
haha, yeah.
Ok. That would've been their first video for the song Deadnight Warrior. Off their first album Something Wild. That video cracks me up. Mainly because the first time I watched it, I thought Janne was actually wearing a red hoodie. It's actually just the lights.

Yep. :) Bands along those lines are Kalmah, Imperanon and Wintersun. Great stuff from all.
When are you going to be putting the album up? I've got to go. :upset:

Sorry, YSI is taking a **** long time, as usual. I'll try Megaupload.
It looks like it's going to take half an hour with Megaupload if you can stick around that long.

Maybe I missed something, but who said something about Dream Theater?

Huber 09-06-2005 10:57 PM

I just started listening to the Rhapsody album that Neurotoxin uploaded, and the riff in Emerald Sword made me joygasm. What an amazing album.

Fullmoon and letter to Dana should also go on the list.

Also...yes, it's the BG song.

it says it on my music program rhapsody it says under related projects stratovarius

Stoic 09-07-2005 05:27 AM

Does anyone remember Requiem (Fin), the neoclassical euro power band? I've just ordered their album (The Arrival) and will be glad to upload songs as long as they rule as much as the samples!

Iron Bars 09-07-2005 07:57 AM

A couple of months ago I could have bought some Skyfire albums for 2 euro a piece. I didn't buy them because I didn't know them back then.

Now downloading Spectral (I hope it isn't too good or I'm going to have to kick myself in the head or something).

Lord Abortion 09-07-2005 09:04 AM

I never really got into stratovarius...

Kronos 09-07-2005 10:09 AM
I never really got into stratovarius...
They are quite good, not as good as SA or NW tho' - after a couple of albums you've pretty much heard what they have to say. And that new album - ugh! :upset:
Fits into the "What are they doing?" category, that one
Still they did help to forge PM as we know (and love) it

Lord Abortion 09-07-2005 10:10 AM

Yeah, the new one got 0/10 in metal hammer, crappy though MH is...

Hell, A rise to power is good...

Stoic 09-07-2005 10:36 AM

whoah? 0/10? I dont think it's just metal hammer, I've seen pretty bad reviews in other sites as well. What sucks so much anyway in that album?

Lord Abortion 09-07-2005 10:47 AM
Stratovarius- powerless metal

Why do they bother?
Stratovarius have already conquered mainland europe over the past 10 years. Now they are hoping this gormless nonsense will make them big news in Britain. Ha, sorry, no chance. Firstly they need to get a lineup that exhudes attitude, vibrancy and enthusiasm...secondly, they need to avoid embarassments like "Gotterdammerung (Zenith of power)" which deals with the always touchy subject of Nazi Germany in such an appallingly inept and juvenile, insulting manner, it defies human belief. If these Feeble Finns believe this misbegotten melle is gonna make them big over here in the U.K, they're heading for a big fall. Charmless tripe- 2/10 (sorry not 0, my fault, misread it first time I read it. :p)
that's the review there

Steerpike 09-07-2005 10:59 AM

Okay, regardless of whatever one may think of Stratovarius and the new album, am I the only one who wants to smack the reviewer the Ollie just quoted and tell them that talking like Mr Spock does not impress anyone but the most gullible twits on the planet?

Lord Abortion 09-07-2005 11:05 AM

Certainly, his name is Malcolm Dome, and although I can't find his Email address, He appears to be a twat.
He also reviews the new Hypocrisy album in a similar fashion

I'm not sure who Mr Spock is but I absolutely hate it when reviews are written in such an insubstantial and insulting way. For god's sake, he doesn't even refer to the music!

Skeksis 09-07-2005 11:23 AM

I'm a HUGE Strato fan, but when I saw (and heard) the video for Maniac Dance I was left utterly disappointed. They completely lost their sound; no speed, no awesome solos, TK doesn't even hit high notes.

:(

Steerpike 09-07-2005 11:24 AM
I'm not sure who Mr Spock is but I absolutely hate it when reviews are written in such an insubstantial and insulting way. For god's sake, he doesn't even refer to the music!
I was referring more to the fact that he uses an overabundance of big words and complex sentence structures for the sole purpose of making himself sound much more intelligent and clever than he really is.

Kronos 09-07-2005 12:15 PM

Aren't some people on MX guilty of that too?

Maniac Dance reminds me of something Billy Joel might have dreamt up :upset:

Yeah, I know I do it sometimes too....

Steerpike 09-07-2005 12:38 PM

It helps that we actually know what we're talking about.

That douchebag on the other hand... people like him drive me berserk. I just want to kick him in the throat and yell at him while he writhes on the floor, "Dumbass! Nobody's buying into your bullshit. Now write a real review for the music before I shred your genitals off with a cheese grater."

Hells Bells 09-07-2005 12:42 PM
Yeah, I know I do it sometimes too....
 Same here.

Shattered_Future 09-07-2005 12:42 PM

I dunno...as much as I don't like Stratovarius, that guy really seems out of line...at least they're TRYING.

Kronos 09-07-2005 12:43 PM

Agreed - he says nothing about the actual music at all - that wasn't a review, it was a rant of superficial spite.
And he spelt "melee" wrong
