I don't know why parents would hide their old record collections. My parents never hid theirs, though some of the albums i found makes me think they should have..lol

RiceMonster 05-28-2005 07:55 PM

My Dad leaves his record/cd collection open for me to steal some of his albums. He's got quite a few good ones actually. My mom's CDs are like John Denver(sp?) and Elton John, so of course I have no interest.

lunch998 05-28-2005 07:57 PM

Elton John actually has some decent stuff if you get around the crap. I also steal/borrow my dad's albums.

thickasabrick 05-28-2005 07:58 PM

I just took my dads albums he only had like fifty though

JonG 05-28-2005 07:58 PM

My dad has a roomful at his brothers. Some good Yes, Grateful Dead, Flying Burrito Bros, CSN(Y)

RiceMonster 05-28-2005 07:59 PM

I've heard most of Elton's older stuff, which my mom is into, and I didn't like it too much. My house is heaven for any Beatles fan. My parents have a biography, and I believe every album they've released as well.

lunch998 05-28-2005 08:00 PM

I think everyone's parents are Beatles fans, though mine aren't fanatics.

The Burrito's don't get enough love 'round here =p. I adore them. Country Rock is so cool...

I have this book that explains the stories behind every Beatles song. It's pretty cool, and I've picked up quite a wealth of trivial knowledge.

Mine are hige fanatics. They put on the Beatles all the time. I know most of there songs, and I've kind of grown tired of it.

Ya Country Rock rules..

where'd you get that Beatles book??

thickasabrick 05-28-2005 08:11 PM
I think everyone's parents are Beatles fans, though mine aren't fanatics.
My dads not a big Beatles fan, I'm sure he doesn't mind them though. My mom always starts singing along, so I don't listen to Beatles around her.

Woodstock 05-28-2005 08:16 PM

My whole family loves the Beatles, even my grandpa. I was raised to them.

My dad has a huge vinyl collection with hundreds of rare records in mint condition. He's leaving them for me in his will.

drugstore cowboy 05-28-2005 08:17 PM

^I'm in about the same situation (as thickasabrick) =p

As for the book, it's called "A Hard Day's Write" (pun, aahahah...) and it's written by a man by the name of Steve Turner. I got it for christmas, but it should be around, if you look for it. It's a really good read if you're a Beatles fan.

Out of curiousity, why don't we have an official Who thread?

The Mods are done with Official Threads for now. We don't get a lot of The Who threads, so we aren't in need of one either. If you want you can make a thread on them, but don't make it official.

drugstore cowboy 05-28-2005 08:29 PM

Fine by me =p Thanks.

np: In my time of dying - Led Zep

Gotta love that slide guitar

Element of LED 435 05-28-2005 08:39 PM

The Who can rock out but plz dont even start a thread about them for everyones sake
The Who can rock out but plz dont even start a thread about them for everyones sake
I wasn't planning on it, but what's wrong with the Who? Everyone's gotta love them, if only just a little. What's not to love about those four jolly English chaps?

One of my friends used to like classic rock type stuff, but she turned to Indie/Emo this past year. Now she despises the Who, and I still can't figure out why. What is happening in her head...

edit:
They aren't that good.
lol, ouch =p Short and to the point..the wrong point, but a point nonetheless... :p

JonG 05-28-2005 08:48 PM

A lot of bands can "rock out", but we don't a thread for every single one.

Now you're the official opinion judger? Everybody has a different opinion. Obviously not everybody agrees with eachother. My opinion. Your avatar makes you look like a noob, as does your post count.

drugstore cowboy 05-28-2005 08:57 PM

Edited.

...and I'm too lazy to find another avatar. :( And when it's that small, they could be mistaken for any four random long haired british rockers. =p

My post count, however, makes me look like a noob because I'm a noob with 167 posts. Simple as that...

Canadian-Guy 05-28-2005 08:58 PM

My neightbor just showed me the collection of about a bajillion vinyls in his garage. I just need a player:upset:.

ledzepdennis 05-28-2005 09:52 PM

ive replaced all my cds with vinyl and i cant live without it... go to www.forevervinyl.com and they have some **** that you cant get anywhere else, its truely awesome

lunch998 05-28-2005 10:09 PM
They aren't that good.
I'd say there's close to as many Who fans as there are Beatles fans. No, obviously we don't need an official Who thread, but any band can get their own thread. And The Who are superior to a lot of bands, obviously good enough to have their own thread.

In your opinion they aren't, and that's fine. But in a lot of people's opinion, they are great. I personally don't think The Beatles are "that great" but I don't deny their importance and don't try to deny that we should have a thread on them.

My point is somewhat useless just because I'm posting an FA on The Who on Monday (I think) so therefore I don't think we need a thread on them right now.
But I still firmly believe they deserve one.

corganfan001 05-28-2005 10:17 PM

its merely a trend just like everything else, your cool if you sport a led zeppelin shirt. but yeah its nice to see the gods of rock getting some mainstream recognition.

Can't wait to read it. :thumb:

All I've heard is Who's Next so I really shouldn't judge them yet. I think they're worthy of a thread considering thier fan-base.

Jebediah 05-28-2005 10:32 PM
I have quite a large vinyl collection. Maybe about six hundred or so, but I can never keep count. I only own like thirty CDs though, I don't really buy CDs very often.
Where do you buy all of your vinyl? The only places I have been able to find them are Flea Markets and the odd second hand store.

As I said before, I really don't care at all if you like them or not (not directed towards you specifically, you as in anyone), but they certainly have the credentials to be considered a great band.

PinkFreud 05-29-2005 09:42 AM

bump from the third page.

van morrison's version of caravan off of the last waltz is addictive

BludgeonySteve 05-29-2005 10:27 AM

The Who are some of the greatest rockers ever. I think they deserve their own thread.

PinkFreud 05-29-2005 10:36 AM
I don't really care for Van Morrison, he's okay, but not great. And The Who could have their own thread, but I think we talk about them in here enough that they don't really need one.

np- Goodbye Blue Sky
but his voice is so great!

drugstore cowboy 05-29-2005 10:37 AM

I love how Van Morrison could do just about any style and make it sound good, his vocals were just that great.
