Hey seeing as i couldn't upload Cunning Stunts is anyone interested in Monsters of Rock 91? It's about an hour and ten minutes long featuring Metallica, Pantera, Black Crowes(shudder) and AC/DC.
That would be cool :thumb:

Jev 08-01-2005 01:07 PM

My upload suddenly turned into a "cannot find server" page so i'm not uploading it tonight.

Britton 08-01-2005 02:51 PM

Not suprising considering it's a 722 MB file. What's your upload speed anyways? It would take me like 8+ hours to upload 700 MB file. And I have 384 kbps. I wish my upload was 3 Mbit same as my download. That would be nice.

I'm not sure. I just downloaded it. Did they write ride the lightning when dave was still in the band?

nope

RustedPieces 08-01-2005 05:12 PM

It's not Megadeth. Metallica or Megadeth have never done a cover of eachothers songs. Ever.

It sounds like someone took the original Metallica version of Ride The Lightning and turned the pitch up a little in audacity.

Impossable: Unless it was a live version, it definatly does not follow the lyric line. Just listen to the song, James does some high stuff where in this on the voice is dropped, not with a computer, but this is NOT the origional version. It could be either a live version done that way, an old bootlegged studio cut, or it could be Dave and Megadeath doing a cover for S's and G's, not planning on releasing it into public.

RustedPieces 08-01-2005 05:37 PM

But it doesn't sound anything like Dave to me.

FlyingPaul_83 08-01-2005 05:59 PM

I think it sounds a little like dave, but I'm not sure if it is.

Huber 08-01-2005 06:02 PM

I doubt that it's Dave. It would be highly unlikely, and it doesn't sound to much like him.

Partly, on some songs he wrote, but others no.
Call of The Ktulu, Ride and Fight Fire With Fire, he was on, and he wrote much of it.

(hetfield, ulrich burton), there's no mustaine in it, but i could be wrong.

Endless Obsession 08-01-2005 07:25 PM

Are you guys joking that sounds nothing like Mustaine. Thats obviously Hetfield. Probobly played it like late 83 early 84 before Ride the Lightning came out cause it sounds like Kill Em All vocals.

hethamulburton 08-01-2005 07:39 PM

You're right I meant something else, or maybe not, I knew Ride and C of K.
Wasn't sure.

metalthrasher0978 08-01-2005 07:48 PM

its defiently not mustaine he left metallica and went to megadeth before ride the lightning

Huber 08-01-2005 07:50 PM

Welcome to the boards...

We know about Mustaine. It's possible it could be Megadeth covering a Metallica song (like 1 in a million chance) or material from before Kill Em' All.

it's possible, but megadeth would played that song faster, just check the mechanix and the four horsemen speed diferencies.

Not only that, but if you've ever hopped into the Megadeth thread you'll notice a lot of hostility against Metallica (I'm not saying all Megadeth fans hate Metallica). Megadeth could lose a ton of fans and support by doing a cover of Metallica. Some fans hate Metallica in almost a fanboyish way and wont have it any other way.

On the other hand though, there are tons of people like most people on these boards who will probably give Mr. Mustaine much respect for it.

Sad thing is, the first option is to harsh to risk.

That is very true.

metalthrasher0978 08-01-2005 08:15 PM

I never ment it as megadeth doing a metallica cover they would never do that i ment that mustaine wasent in the band when ride the lightning was made

vashts80 08-01-2005 08:37 PM

That is definitely James, most likely a bootleg from right after RTL was released.

Huber 08-01-2005 09:11 PM

You said it wasn't him because Mustaine left Metallica before RTL, and I said it didn't have to be. It could be Mustaine in Megadeth doing a Metallica song (again, 1 in a million chance)

hethamulburton 08-01-2005 10:09 PM
its defiently not mustaine he left metallica and went to megadeth before ride the lightning
Yes, but he wrote Call Of Ktulu and Ride The Lightning- music.
And I think he wrote something else on there, I don't remember.

Dr. Killgreedy 08-01-2005 10:18 PM

i think mustaine's songs were the best on RTL. i still enjoy that more than some of their most recently recordings.....anything after the black album i dont care for.

The Four Horsemen takes the cake for me.

fatbandit 08-02-2005 03:18 AM

Would it matter if it was recorded while he was still in the band? Mustaine never did lead vox in Metallica, just lead guitars.

:smash:

No it's not.
Mustaine has said numerous times he will never cover a Metallica song.

Edit: That sounds so much more like Hetfield then it does Mustaine...
