from what she described to me and what I read online, using CDA is just looking for power structures with a master-slave relationship in everything (including fashion spreads). so rather than being critical and objective it tends to be confirmative to whatever form you're using. So if you use something feminist critique of culture you're more than likely to find that everything you're "critically analyzing" confirms your hypothesis: all the media you're analyzing has an inherent (and possibly intentional) patriarchal power structure.

also it disregards what the media is actually emphasizing, like the clothing etc etc which makes it even more questionable as to its real value
