I can barely begin to describe it. It's eons ahead of its time; the first record I heard came out in 1956, and it sounds like the kind of stuff that seems out there and experimental [i]now[/i]. Think The Books, only lower tech and with more of a beatnik sensibility. Much of it can be considered jazz, too.
