And, to top it all off, my friend had a band a few months ago, but it fell apart when the singer moved. Now he is coming back to Maryland and they are going to reunite but with me as the second guitarist!
Sweet :)
That is pretty sweet indeed. Nice. Ever since I told that self-proclaimed "screamo/hardcore/hard rock kid" that wanted to start a band at uni here that I didn't have my bass at school and just my guitar, I haven't heard from him since. Poor kid. I hope he has fun covering Atreyu songs or something. |
Well. I failed my resits, luckily I can take most of the classes from the second year combined with the few I failed from first year. My parents aren't too happy about it though, because I was very lazy. Which is true.

How come you're aware of your laziness and not do anything to change it? |
Because he's too lazy?
 So true. I don't know Stoic, I have a SERIOUS lack of self discipline. Part of me always wants to work and go for it, but the other part is just like, fuck that. I don't even know whether I'm able to study or not, I've never ever decently studied for something, I think. Yet I passed most classes, I think that's an achievement. I wish I had some self discipline though. |

Maybe the way you study and do your coursework is what leads to you not having any self-discipline. Where do you do it at? How long do you work? How do you divide up your workload?
How people learn is entirely dependant on their preference, yes, but if one method isn't working for you, maybe trying something new would help bolster having self-discipline? For example, if you do your coursework by your computer and you don't need to use the computer to do your coursework, maybe your mind will drift from your work and to the Internet. Maybe if you started doing your work at a separate desk, or at the kitchen table, or wherever can help you? I listen to music when I do my work (I think it's safe to say all of us here do, anyway), so that shouldn't be a problem, heh. Also, how do you divide your workload? Do you do the most time-consuming stuff first, or do you do the easiest stuff first, or do you do the stuff that doesn't take a lot of time first? Maybe if you start with the hardest or more time-consuming material, yoru workload will seem less intimidating. How often do you take breaks? For example, say you work a SOLID forty-five minutes. You should give yourself fifteen minutes for break; Internet, using "the gay rolling machine" to do that stuff you love doing (MSN inside joke++), videogames, etc. As soon as your fifteen minutes are up, then get back to work. Divide up how you see fit, so long as you get your work done. This means don't give yourself five minutes of solid work and then fifty-five minutes of freetime, heh. When do you do your coursework, primarily? Morning, afternoon, or night? You should pick a time that's best for you and your mind is sharpest, and start working. Take your breaks and such, though, as well, of course. But as soon as you start working on a regimen, your self-discipline will get stronger, since you'll say, "Wpah !, it's 16:00, I should work on some studying or coursework before I loves me some waffles!" Then, it will become second nature. :) I could ramble on more, but I'm just going to get a "tl;dr" response. Perhaps people can share their advice? |

The incredibly lazy way to read passages quickly is to outline. Read the first sentence of every paragraph, the last sentence of every paragraph, and skim the rest over, looking for bolded words or stuff that's supposed to grab your attention. Just do that for every paragraph, and it will go quicker, maybe. Also, you should play your music. But it can't be obnoxiously loud :\ Play music you are familiar with, too. Like Therapy? :) |

I don't think that works, I think I'd sing the songs instead of studying. Music works when you're doing homework, but it's distracting when you study. But I'll try. |
This is kind of hard to explain, but I syncopate my reading/notetaking/readings with the music.
I'm going to try to explain. EDIT: Okay, there's no way anyone is going to understand all that. I'll try again later :( |

I can't study to music, I have to be very active and focused in my work to get a grip of it/ remember it. Sorry to hear about the fails Jelle, good luck with the repeat thing.

Superpeer: So you're still progressing to the second year? If so, then that's good :)

Sorry to be so off topic, but I just read that SYL are supporting Meshuggah on the UK tour dates. Could anyone confirm this for me?
I just got over the fact that I probably cant make it to see Meshuggah (:() but if SYL are playing too... |

It starts off with a Jabba the Hutt part part then goes onto like a kind of eastern inspired simple guitar melody. Throughout the song you have the shouts of "Chewie!!/Chewbacca!!...What a Wookie!!" and people doing dodgy Chewie impressions in between. It ends with Jabba as well and my version is around 1:24 long. |

I want to hear this Chewie song :( In other news, I finally might be getting a band, I'm so excited. The guy's coming down tomorrow to hash out details and if I'm in we have a gig in a month. Battle of the bands where we'd get studio time and a cash prize. I'm super excited. |

Is it the song from Clerks? There was a song in the movie Clerks that sounds a lot like that. |
Wait, isn't this the song that was widely circulated (mislabeled) as it being by Limp Bizkit, and it was called something like "Fuck Slipknot?"
It was really short, though, like less than two minutes. There were horrible Chewbacca impressions all throughout. |
This most certainly isn't a link to the song in question which will certainly get edited once people click it

Clicked.
Listening now, the musicianship seems pretty high for a joke song heh. The impressions are horrible though. I liek it though. |
Yeah, that's the song I'm talking about. Sweet.
|
If anyone (else) would like to hear the song hit me up on MSN since I'm currently on.
|
The file I have is from Clerks, yeah, so it starts off with Randal and Dante talking about which they liked better, Empire.. or ..Jedi, and why, and then the chants that I think you were talking about.
Anyway. Last night I saw a repeat of that McIntyre's Underworld show on the Glasgow underworld/crime scene. I always thought it was great that they felt the need to put subtitle in whenever Mark Clinton (? totally unsure of the name) was talking. |
Haha, that's the file I have, too. Something like:
"What did you like better, The Empire Strikes Back or Return of the Jedi?" "Empire." "Well, that's for me (?). Empire (I think that's what he said) had the better ending, Luke gets his hand cut off, something something something..." [Chewbacca garble]... Chewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwbaaaaaaaccccccccca! [music] |
sounds bizzarre.
