I'm looking to review an album today, but I'm not sure which I should review.

I'm thinking about reviewing Willy & The Poor Boys, but I'm not sure. Got any suggestions?

Anyway, it'd be nice if you reviewed YMSB - Elevation.

robo2448 05-26-2005 04:45 PM

sorry to change the topic but I just have to say that Oh Sweet Nuthin' by VU is a real kickass song . I have it off the High Fidelity soundtrack which is pretty good. I'm going to get a VU album very soon.

ATM 05-26-2005 04:54 PM
ATM, who's that in your avatar?
go for it. vu & nico and loaded seem to be the most accessible to me. self titled is good too and white light/white heat i would recommend to someone who has already been introduced to them.

robo2448 05-26-2005 05:13 PM

I think I'll buy VU & Nico first, but I think I may eventually buy all of their albums, as everyone seems to like them.

David Bowie 05-26-2005 05:22 PM

I know what you mean...
Bowie's my favorite but I love The Beatles, Zepplen,The Who...
all of 'em!

lunch998 05-26-2005 05:24 PM

Define "all of 'em".

robo2448 05-26-2005 05:34 PM

I'm just getting into Bowie now too :thumb:

I think he means all other classic rock fans by "all of 'em."

magicbus 05-26-2005 06:11 PM

I got Ziggy Stardust for my birthday. Bowie is sweet. Hey guys.

jpj 05-26-2005 06:35 PM

I've only heard Ziggy Stardust, and I think it's absolutely amazing. I need to pick it up sometime.

"Which came first, the music, or the misery?"

I love that movie, does anyone know if is the book any good?

NP:Grateful Dead- Black Peter

robo2448 05-26-2005 07:25 PM

I've actually never seen the movie or read the book. My parents just had the soundtrack, I think they liked both.

MalcolmYoungRock 05-26-2005 07:27 PM

Bowie is totally kick-ass

I rented a library copy. I do not list the ones I burnt from the library.

And I've been meaning to review Elevation. It is a very good album.
Haha. That Johnny Cash song is good.
Yeah it is; I love the whole concept. And of course the broken down sound and his deliverance just make it even better.

JonG 05-26-2005 07:43 PM

Just ask one of us for No Doy man.

That's an amazing album.

Plane Crash, 32 Things, Nebraska, Timmy Tucker, Buster, Brent Black, Head, Meat.

Me or Livewired or Badmoon could probably send you an album.

I fell in love with the VU after I watched High Fidelity. Anyways, I'd recommend "Loaded". It's one of the last albums, and since John Cale and Nico are gone at this point, Lou Reed really comandeers the album. It doesn't have one bad song on it. It's got "Oh Sweet Nuthin" on it too. Amazing, amazing song, as it "Sweet Jane", "Rock and Roll", and "New Age".
"Which came first, the music, or the misery?"

NP:Grateful Dead- Black Peter
I'm reading the book, it's good. It takes place in England, though.

And yeah, Johnny Cash rules. I like a lot of older country, like him, Willie Nelson, etc., etc.

np: The Rolling Stones - Waiting On A Friend. I really like this song lately.

Badmoon 05-26-2005 09:29 PM

Everyone download those songs, you'll be better people because of it.

Np: Midnight Moonlight

thickasabrick 05-26-2005 10:15 PM

You're a hell of a guy Badmoon, thanks for the songs. I'm listening to Corona right now, great song.

And just to take it one step further, I'll post a couple songs I just listened to...bluegrass songs. These are mainly by my favourite bluegrass musicians.

Tony Rice and Seldom Scene - Red Haired Boy
http://s18.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=3CNXVFL9Y22RK2LN9BYM2E8ZTC

Doc Watson, Del McCoury and Mac Wiseman - Black Mountain Rag
http://s18.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=0PQNZNR7ITXE408AOE2C6XIY1X

(these are fairly well known bluegrass songs, so sorry if they've been posted before)

Badmoon 05-26-2005 10:54 PM

I've heard Doc do a couple of different versions of Black Mountain Rag, but haven't heard this one. Nicely done, and I like the appearance of Del McCoury.

I don't have time to listen to the Tony Rice one. I'll listen to it tommorow.

And remember, "Corona" is a Minutemen cover.

Minutemen eh..I remember you mentioning them before but I've never heard them. It's a good song, what kind of band were they?
